Did 30 minutes on the recumbent last night.
I'm going to try out my elliptical tonight while the Biggest Loser is on. |
Tam, I always elliptical for an hour or so of TBL... it's definitely inspirational and makes me less likely to give up when I see how hard the contestants are working!

Just my 2 cents about the "starvation theory", I don't think anyone or any of us has gotten fat because we were starving ourselves, quite the opposite actually... IMHO don't believe that theory... :soap:
I shoveled another half hour today and food has been spot on :D:D:D |
45 minutes at gym, walking on treadmill. It's going to take a while to get back in shape!
Susan - I gained back everything I lost in last year in the last 3 or 4 months (various reasons). I was quite discouraged and even disgusted with myself, but now that I'm focused on getting back on track, I feel relieved. I, too, had to fess up and change my ticker. I don't want to gain and lose the same 10 lbs every year for the rest of my life, but maybe I am destined to do so. Anyway, here's to getting back on track... we can do it!!! Barb - hang in there. It's gotta be discouraging when you are doing everything right and not having results... I agree with Tams... the scales gotta budge soon. To Illene and Susan - you Canadians really make me feel wimpy -- 1 hour runs, snow shoveling, swimming! Wow. I just want to curl up inside when it hits about 40 degrees! What a wimp I am. :-) |
Canadians are a tough lot - OT a bit
I should know - I'm one of 'em. I spend 7-8 hours a day outside in all sorts of weather. We just get used to it. But so do many Americans in the northern states as well as northern Europeans etc.
I think I would have problems in a place like Arizona where it hits over 100 degrees F regularly or with the humidity in Texas or Florida. You have to wear a minimum of clothes, no matter how hot it is. ;) Dagmar |
LOL! Me too! I'd rather deal with the -45ish C weather than have to be hot and sweaty all the time! LOL!
Shoveling snow is a good workout, I don't like to do it though! LOL! |
I much prefer cold weather to hot humid... I rarely run in the summer because of the heat, you can't strip off layers in the winter you can...
|
Not me! Bring on the heat! :hot: :sunny: I'm always cold, so even hot temperatures don't feel that warm to me. Mid-80's feels pleasantly warm. Anything below that feels a little chilly. It's got to get well into the 90's before I start fo feel hot.
It's true, I can't run outdoors once temperatures get above 70, but it's small price to pay for finally being warm. |
I'm a Virginia girl, so hot and humid is what I'm used to. I've never thought a thing about going for a long bike ride or walk or run, even during the heat of the day in the hottest months. There are only a few extreme days each summer when I just can't take the heat. Being outside for 7 hours a day in a Canadian winter seems like the tougher draw to me, so I guess it really is what our bodies acclimate to.
Went to gym today but only for about 40 minutes. |

Last night, the only exercise I got was 40 minutes walking my dogs.
I'm a born and raised southwest Florida girl. I prefer 75 - 85 degrees. I don't spend much time outside in the summers here... but our "winter" season is gorgeous! I love having the air off and the house open for 4-5 months. I did spend about 12 years living 'up north'.. including a winter on cape cod and a year in Anchorage. I'll take 10 degrees in Anchorage over 40 in Boston any. day. I hate the eastern seaboard cold... even NC, the last place I lived before I moved back to FL, winters were just too dreary, wet, nasty for me. |
Tam-I love that KISS. My husband syas I am OCD about it. 5 days a week I am at the gym twice a day. I work with a trainer 3 days a week and do cardio every day. I even voluntarily so the stairmaster!! Maybe equal to shoveling snow? Oh my I would never make it!! LOL I am a wimp in cold weather.
Barbara-I know the body going into starvation does sound crazy but a person burns approximately 1200-1400 calories a day doing nothing. It's your resting metabolic rate. So when we work out we burn more than we take it which is how we loose. My trainer said I should be eating about 1800 calories a day and I was trying to loose a lot more weight then than I am now. I'm definitely not an expert but 1200 does seem really low. That's what they put the morbidly obese on. Just keep pluging and trying. Everyone thanks for posting. I love reading about everyone else's stories. It's always encouraging!! |
This morning I ran in -18c/-0.4F ... It was actually cold because there was no sun and it was very damp... I only ran for 35 minutes...
|
all I can say is, WOW!!!
