  • Some have requested a Workout/Weigh-in thread... So starting Monday we can weigh-in here if we want to share our weights, we can weigh in once/week or more often if we wish ... This will also be our Exercise Accountability thread...

I'm not sure if we should have 2 threads, one for weight one for exercise... We'll see how it goes the first week...

    See you Monday morning...
  • I weigh 133.4 lbs. this morning.

I work out every day (my job is a workout) but I also do 20 mins. yoga every a.m. so I'm doing that this week.

    Dagmar
  • I am WAY up today. 127.8, so 3 pounds up. However, I ate a ton of sodium on Saturday, so I'm thinking it's a 1 pound true gain and 2 pounds water retention. Still makes me feel yucky

This morning I overslept a bit, but I did 5 minutes on the rowing machine and then 30 mins of weight lifting. I plan to do another 15 on the rowing machine tonight, some more weights, and perhaps some elliptical? My left upper thigh is a bit sore, though I'm not sure what that's from, so I'm hoping some easy elliptical will help to relax it. I had an intense leg workout yesterday so I don't want to do much, but I think a little bit won't hurt and will probably help the healing process. The good news is, all the soreness from my run on Saturday is gone. Yay!
  • OK, I worked out last night (elliptical + light weights), and was 140 this am., which is basically what I went in to Christmas weighing, so I'm pleased with that. I got off easy, because I ate a LOT of sweets over the holidays.

I'm going easy on the workout today, and will just do some walking, then maybe some light weights tonight, because my bum knee is bothering me (from dancing in high heels on the weekend!).
  • The scale gods were NOT good this morning... I am up from Saturday's weigh-in by 3 lbs... So this morning I was 157 ...

I haven't exercised yet ... I definitely will later today when I get home from work...
  • I ran 8 miles yesterday and snowshoed for 45 minutes, but this morning the scale was still at 132. Hmph. I guess I expect instant gratification or something.
  • How long does it take for a workout to show up in the scale? Anyone know? I ran a long distance on Saturday and I want that half-pound off!
  • This is just my understanding, but I don't think a workout will "show up" on the scale. It's just a matter of burning off the calories, 1 at a time. You still need, through diet and exercise, to create a 3500 calorie deficit to lose body mass - no one workout is going to burn 3500 at a pop. Of course, water weight fluctuations also cause the needle to move, which makes things fuzzy. Working out can actually cause an immediate increase in weight, as weary muscles (so I understand) need extra fluids - your body actually hangs on to some extra fluid in the form of muscle inflammation. But keep with it, every calorie burned contributes to that deficit that we need to create.
  • I weighed in last Friday at 143. That's below my pre-Christmas weight of 145. Yay! My next weigh-in is this Friday.

I work out M-F directly after work for at least a 1/2 hour. Tonight I have to pick up a guitar after work and drop off some movies, but I see no reason as to why we won't make the gym unless the parking is all taken by the New Year Resolutioners at the gym. Last Wednesday was PACKED and when I walked by the gym over the weekend it looked REALLY full comparatively.
  • I'm going back to Friday weigh ins, so I'll let you know Friday.

I am not going to work out for a few more days because of my little surgery.

I am ready to start feeling better, and I know losing a few lbs and working out will help!

Ilene - sounds like you might be retaining some water... have you been eating much sodium? I doubt you gained 3 real lbs in 2 days!
  • AWESOME!! I love you guys!
I weighed in at 144 lbs today!
Also started the Slim in 6 program and my legs feel like jello!!
  • Went to the gym last night and worked back, biceps and abs... 20 mins on the treadmill of interval running and walking...
  • I did 8 Min Abs this morning. Will do another (slightly longer) ab workout later tonight. Also, I usually do the elliptical while I watch Biggest Loser, and I was really looking forward to it, but my left upper thigh is still really sore, so I'm not sure it's good to do anything with it. We'll see how I feel later tonight...
  • Yesterday I worked out with my trainer and today I am doing a spinning class for an hour.

My weight was 119 on Sunday. Today it is up to 120, but that is just water. My eating has been POP, so I know I haven't gained. I'm hoping to start seeing a downward trend in the next week or so or I'm going to have to cut a few more calories from my plan.
  • This morning 154 down the 3 I had gained I yo-yo like crazy but when I weigh daily I just take it with a grain of salt, so to speak...

Ran for 40 mins, went to the gym and worked legs for 35 mins this morning too ... It's all good...

Food so far is spot on
