OK now that is off my chest. I will go back and read the rest of the post
  • sorry everyone i just can;t concentrate to read maybe I will get to it later
  • Allison -- Stay away from the cookies

Jen -- Hang in there, it WILL get better

Dagmar -- I drink pure concentrated cranberry water... Knudsen makes one and I mix 1/4c in 4 cups of water in my bottle. When I drink this mixture I feel totally flushed! I prefer it to plain water now it's very refreshing although the tartness takes some getting used to...

Kaw -- Nice stats, keep it up

I'm at work and sneaking in some time on the computer because my partner is gone to lunch ... I'm caught up in my work though so it's a good thing... I finish at 1PM and I will go to the gym afterwards ...

    Later all
  • Just want to say Hi to everyone...
I just found this site yesterday and am very happy! I'm on day 2 of my new approach to food and health! So far, so good! Best part is, I am prepared to continue and move forward, even if I do have slip-ups!
  • Hey JenniJo
  • ALC due to DH
    JennieJo. We're a fun bunch

I think I can single-handedly keep the Men ARRRGGHHH! thread going. I just ALC because I'm waiting for my DH (dense husband) to come home and resume the screaming hissy fit he had going when I slammed the door in his face this morning. He's all upset because I use "his" room for 10 minutes every morning for part of my exercise routine and I don't want him to be sitting there with all the lights on while I do this.

This formerly rational 45 year old man has turned into a sulking, whining big fat baby over the last year. I've been giving him the last 3 years to get on with and over his mid-life crisis (he gave me 1 year) but I'm getting pretty fed up ( and I'm over-feeding myself to cope with his crankiness).

Thanks! I feel much better now and will not head to the store and further damage my diet.

    Dagmar
  • Thanks for the welcome! I'm pretty good w/ acronyms, but... ALC...? Ate Lottsa Carbs? Angered Linda Carter?
  • heehee...Ate Like Crap Its something we conjured up to mean we were off plan.

Dagmar - I'm doing terribly in the food department today as well. I thought I had my binging under control, but man. I guess I have been worse in the past, but I just ate so much crap. Ugh. I'm stressed out about my report, and bored, and all of that contribute to my eating. Good luck with DH...men can be such dumb***es sometimes.
  • Yesterday I had a good day. I was OP with my calories, I went grocery shopping and bought lots of fresh fruit, and I used the elliptical at the gym.

Today, however.........we had a picnic at work. I knew about this picnic for weeks, and I had been mentally preparing for it....or so I thought. I ate a barbecued chicken sandwich, a barbecued pulled pork sandwich, one corn on the cob and one scoop of pasta. Then after everyone finished eating I kept thinking about the extra rolls that were just sitting there. They were my favorite rolls from my favorite bakery. I had 2 more - not sandwiches this time, just the rolls. So that was 4 rolls total, and this was white bread.

A local ice cream company was catering the picnic. I had 2 bowls of ice cream. And I did not resist the toppings. Then as soon as I got home I ate more food, read an informative article about appetite control, and then ate even more. Today was definitely a day where I ate due to my appetite, not due to being hungry.

At least I didn't drink any of the pop at the picnic.

Time to get back OP! Especially after all the restaurant food and wine I had over the weekend.

Tomorrow I'll be eating more food served at work - lunch at a Nutrition and Weight Management seminar. I'm sure that will be a lot different than today's lunch choices! The company I work for is offering free nutrition seminars to employees. I'm looking forward to this one.

Barbara - Congratulations on being so close to your goal!

ashleybeth01 - It sounds like you're doing great with WW! And you passed on cake and ice cream not once, but twice! Great job!

Jane - I'm sorry about your dog. I was wrestling with the decision to put my dog to sleep a few years ago, but he passed away at home.

Kim - I was taking EFA supplements for a while, in capsule form. I didn't ake them long enough to see or feel a difference, though.

    Hi Jenni4jo!
  • GreenT - Have fun at the Health seminar...

I was also wondering about ALC

Foodwise it's been a good day, I worked out too but it wasn't the greatest workout... I'll do better tomorrow...
  • Today was a maintenance day. I had breakfast and lunch at a business conference. The meals weren't horrible but I'm sure the calories were more than I usually eat. But the good news is that with those extra calories, I really had a lot of energy for my cardio workout. I even upped the level a bit on the stair machine and managed the last 1 min sprint on the treadmill at 9 mph. And also good news is that I got back on plan for dinner instead of coming home and mindlessly eating more (which is what I would have done a month ago).

Dagmar--I am going through a similar thing with my SO. He's been out of work for three years now and doesn't seem interested in finding a job. He's not grumpy but has turned into a huge procastinator and it's driving me . I really feel like he should be working and he apparently feels like I should support him until the perfect job just falls in his lap. Plus he spends an enormous amount of time playing an online game (and emailing the other game players).

kaw--I also have trouble getting enough good fats. Calories from fat are usually only 10-15% of my total calories for the day; fat is so high in calories that I am loath to add any to my diet. But I'm really more worried about adding protein and reducing my carbs right now. I definitely do not have room in my calories for supplements. One thing at a time...

    canadian mom--
  • Good morning!
Quite by accident I had a pretty good day yesterday. Even tho' I scarfed dry cereal in bed watching TV
I've got a shopping tip for ya ... first stop WalMart. I bought a Pria bar. Between stores I had a bite. Kept up my shopping stamina It was warm in the car so some of the coating melted onto the wrapper. Probably saved me some calories.
  • No ALC for me!!! I still have not had any of those cookies I bought. And mysteriously the other package that I bought for DS is shrinking. Methinks it is DD.

Remember how my pants felt tight yesterday despite losing a pound? Well, another pound joined it and my pants feel more normal today. Now the work is to keep those pounds from returning.
  • (((Jen))) God bless.

Barbara you are always using fresh veggies in such delish recipes. Tell us about your garden - do you do most of the work or along with dh? Is anything new about to be harvested? Here we have had such a drought it is sad.

Yesterday was my first good day in a week. I need this train track of doctor's appts and prescription runs to be over.
  • Good afternoon ladies (and what ever happened to aqua warlock?).

I got off work at 10 am today then went to have a bagel with my best friend. She is living in Conn. for 3 years so it was great to see her.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on our dog. I still have a problem speaking of him in the past tense even though I know he's better off. I can still remember going to pick him up when he was ready to come home as a puppy and he was crated but he was making such a racket I took him out and let him sit on my lap with his paws on the steering wheel (I know, I know, I'm the Brittney Spears of the doggie set!!) but he loved it & was very content.

    JenniJo

Hope things go better for you in your stressful time.

Way to go Allison. Glad to hear you are seeing some results from all your hard work.

Ok, I'm going to run and get some sleep. I just started going back to my health club. I had just been doing Curves and walking on my treadmill at home but there is so much more there to do (including water aerobics which I've really been wanting to try). I've been a member there for years and my dues are $5/month so I'll never get rid of it but I'm really going to start going there more and mixing things up.

    Everyone have a great day.
