Default What do you do when you're too lazy?

I work from 9am to 5.30 pm and have two kids. Honestly, when I get home from work i just want to be with my 15 month-old baby girl. I really need to exercise because I sit behind a desk all day! I really can't afford going to a gym (don't have time nor money). Any suggestions? Anyone else like me, and also too lazy to work out at home?

Go out at lunch time.

Even a 30 minute walk round the black is better than nothing

First of all ... you are NOT lazy. You have a full and happening life already and want to stick something else in there.

I agree with frus about walking at lunch. Find little things you can do for ten or fifteen minutes. Your kids would love to do squats with you while supper cooks, lunge walk around the house, play soccer in the back yard ...

How early do you get up? When do your kids get up? I get up at 6am and walk. Even if you did a 30 min walk or did a 30 min DVD you would be done and in the shower by 6:45. Would that work at all? When I started getting up at 6am I hated it! Now, it is a great way to start my day. I still hate the walk but I love the energy I have through the day. If I don't get up first thing in the AM I wont do it.

I hope that helps.

I do the 6 am thing too - it's not so bad after the first few weeks. But I don't know if I would have done it when my kids were still that young - I'm sleeping much more regularly now than I was in those days! The lunchtime suggestion is a good one.

I don't consider myself lazy, but I don't get my exercise in, either. Being a full time Mom and having a full time job is just so difficult. Here is what my schedule looks like most week days:

Up at 5 AM, wake up DD, shower, read paper, make breakfasts and lunches
Wake up DS at 6:30, deal with email (I am president of a local charity and I do get a lot of emails that I have to deal with)
Leave for school/work at 7:30
Work from 8-4 (usually I take 15 minutes to eat lunch with DH--we own our own company) ((I'd walk at lunch, but when the temps are over 100 degrees--106 today--I just don't like to go out at that time of day))
Pick up DS at 4 take him to karate
Home by about 6--bring in mail, empty dishwasher, get working on dinner, work on any laundry that needs attending, clean house as I go along (we have two dogs that shed like crazy!)
Eat at 7, then dishes
Crash at 8--usually in front of TV with a book/magazine
In bed by 9

For a while, I was getting up at 4:30 to do some exercise, but after a month of that and not seeing any results (weight wise) I gave up. I am considering a gym membership as the gym is 2 doors down from work--I could go for half an hour or so while DS is in karate. I'm just having a hard time deciding.

I guess Iam one of the crazies!!!! LOL
I get up around 4:00am then proceed to
drive to the gym which is 18 miles from my
house (closest one) and do weights for 30
min. then a 60 min spinning class. I get
home around 7:00 just enough time to get
the kids up 10 & 13 make lunches and
shower and get to work by 9:00.
I do this most days of the week
spin M,W,F and run T,THR. I can't start
my day without it. Like everyone else
it took a while to get used to but once
I did I can't do without it.

I know exactly what you mean! My kids are 5 years and 11 months old. The baby is not sleeping through the night yet. He usually wakes up 5:30, drinks milk and then sleeps till 6:45 or so. I get up when he wakes up, then either work out in the basement for an hour (lift weights/walk on the treadmill) or go for a long walk outside now that the weather is nice. I get back around 7. The kids and my husband wake up around that time. I am usually in bed by 10 - 10:30. i can barely keep my eyes open at that point of time! It was hard initially but now I just love it.

Even though I only lost around 12lbs or so, my clothes are fitting much better and I think that is coz of the exercise. I am able to fit into all my pre-pregnancy clothes. Now just have to lose weight from the first pregnancy.

I wake up at 5:15, wake up ds and nurse him (unless he woke up on his own before that in which case I get to sleep in until a whopping 5:40) run from 6-7:00 then start my day. Except thursday when I do everything about 30 minutes earlier so I can get in 6-7 miles before 7:00.

about 4 days a week I hit the sack the minute the kids are in bed.

When I had little kids I'd get up at 4:45 to be at the gym at 5:15 and then back home for 7:30 when DH to go to work, then wake the kids and vrrroom the day would start...

It CAN be done, but it's not easy...You need to plan, plan, plan, then when you're finished planning you plan some more... A walk at lunch would be a great ideay

Well, I guess I really should start getting up and running in the morning. I keep telling myself that I'll run in the evenings, but usually it gets too hectic. I'm NOT losing weight. I'm back at 149 for the last few days and I HATE it. Swimsuit season is practically here and I'm not ready!!!
