i agree, i have found that when i have had a stressful week and my willpower is down anyway because i am just tired, having a few drinks easily pushes me over the edge and i lose my weak willpower. but if i am not too tired or stressed out, i actually manage pretty well. i usually try to prepare myself for possible temptations and keep telling myself "no" over and over. usually once i start eating tho, i cant stop so maybe also try not to start eating anything at all and just remember to say "no".

I have found one pattern that works for me with drinking. I actually just realized this recently so I have only tested it a couple times. There are times I drink and times I don't. I don't drink on sit down dinners and events that involve lots of available food and sitting around. I do drink when I am going out dancing with girlfriends or otherwise am going to be kept busy. If I am going out dancing and I have a few drinks I will dance the night away and food won't even cross my mind. I always just remember to cab home straight after as usually my friends will suggest a post-bar food stop. Also good occasions are concerts, live music, or anything thats going to keep you busy.

Lack of Activity + Alcohol + Lot of Available Food = Imminent Disaster
