Featherweights Planning & Chat for Apr 1st-8th

Good Morning Featherweights!
We're no April Fools ... we know you've got to plan to be prepared. What's up for you this week?

Doughnut 04-01-2007 09:17 AM

Well I'm planning for the entire month today because I let March slip away is a haze of off plan days and lost very little weight. My plan for this month is to seriously rein in those off plan days - only have them when I plan for them and not for them to "happen". Well, within reason. I'm in a bit of a funk today - have a terrible headache which I've no doubt is from all the food yesterday. It would be really easy to blow it today but there is no good reason to allocate today as one of my few scheduled days off so I'm not going to. :)

srmb60 04-01-2007 11:46 AM

Hi honeys, I'm home. Ya know, I think I'm gonna grab a wee snooze before DH comes home and wants to go back out again.
I don't have a plan yet. I haven't even looked at my work schedule yet. I know I don't have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow and that's what I want to know so far.

ChocoBroc 04-01-2007 02:07 PM

Plan for this week:

Walk EVERYDAY! Try to get my husband to join me on the weekends
Three times a week get my heart rate up at 80% for at least 20 minutes
stretch
pick up the dumb bells and do 20 minutes at least 4-5 times a week
Lose 2 lbs this week
Keep counting my calories and stay under 1250

sweet_talker 04-01-2007 02:10 PM

This week it's all about having a moderate amount of carbs (been too heavy on them lately) and hovering around 1200 calories a day. Plus my beloved 3L of water. I really miss it when I'm under or don't have some nice cool water kickin' around my room.

lawgirl2007 04-01-2007 02:11 PM

Tuesday I will do 30 minutes of cardio followed by 20 minutes of strength training. During cardio, I will keep my heart rate up. Wednesday I'll do 45 minutes of cardio, keeping the HR up. Friday I'll repeat Tuesday's routine.

I'll also be keeping my calories between 1200 and 1400, every day. I'd like to take a couple walks also.

I hope not! Only time will tell with me. ;)

alinnell 04-01-2007 02:19 PM

Although I didn't get as much planning in as I had hoped yesterday, I am set for the week! Groceries are bought, menu is planned. I had a great food day yesterday and woke up to see 141.5 (down from 143 on Friday). DH and I took the dogs for our Sunday 5 mile walk this morning, too. It will be a good week!

jinanne 04-01-2007 02:44 PM

I have to excercise more often, I've gotten lazy! I also have to get more protein and fiber in my meals. My prom is in early June, so I'd really like to lose a couple pounds for my dress!

canadian mom 04-01-2007 04:09 PM

I never really plan my weeks but I will get at minimum 60-90 mins of exercise a day and hope for another pound down at the end of the week

KylieH 04-01-2007 04:55 PM

I'm looking forward to a better week ahead. While I made all my workouts and keeping my eating in line last week, it was full of work/life stresses, so I didn't feel like I made any real gains.

This week, I want to focus more during my workouts. In terms of diet, I will plan on increasing vegetables and fruit, as well as getting in more water.

Wish me luck!

abbyin 04-01-2007 05:15 PM

This week I will try to get a little exercise in everyday and take my lunch to work more often. I am starting to notice my clothes being a little loser and my son and his girlfriend stopped over today and she asked me if I was losing weight. She's the first one to ask me that and it felt pretty good :D . It felt so good that after they left I got on my treadmill and walked for 30 minutes :woops: . She sure was a motivator.

Hope everyone has a great week!

srmb60 04-01-2007 06:02 PM

OK ... I've got it. I want to get to 36 kms on my tracker and average under 1550 cals and get in two lifting days.

canadian mom 04-01-2007 06:11 PM

My son and I were at walmart yesterday and I got a huge compliment. This lady stopped me and asked me what size I was cause she was looking at clothes for her grandaughter but didn't know her size and I was about the same size. After I told her medium she said that her grandaughter was tall and slender like me. Granted I am only 5 foot 2.5 but I had 3.5 inche heals on (I have to amke for being short somehow) But I was called slender :)

poppins3 04-01-2007 06:58 PM

Ugh, my plan for this week is to forget this weekend ever happened. I've been so off plan and feeling gross! I will be so lucky if I haven't gained weight tomorrow morning!

Hoping I can lose 2 lbs. this week and still meet my Easter goal of 135!! :)

I'm going to go run now, and I'll come up with a plan later tonight or tomorrow.

suerose 04-01-2007 08:02 PM

Hi everyone,
I am going to do every other day of lifting and cycling plus I am going to really try every minute to 'feel' what my body is telling me about whether or not I need to eat. This is what 'normal' is...I know I watch others do it....and I want to do it too!
suerose

suerose 04-01-2007 08:03 PM

.......also, I will come to this site every day for moral support!

bailunrui 04-01-2007 08:20 PM

*waves* Hi! I'm new to the forum.

The number one priority for me, this week, is to go back to the gym. My practice of going twice a week was derailed late last year with a nasty illness and followed by a boatload of excuses. So, this week I intend to go back.

meowies 04-01-2007 09:51 PM

Hey everyone!

For the past two weeks, I've had vacation and went on two short trips- one to visit a friend for a week and then a 3 day trip with my boyfriend for our one year anniversary. I didn't eat well all the time on the trips a few times, but luckily I wanted around a lot and did so many things it all even out and I didn't gain anything! yay!

My plan for today:
-Don't eat too much at lunch (I'm going to my boyfriend's mom's house for lunch and she always makes soo much!! It's pretty healthy though.. but too much of anything is never a good thing!)
-Go to the gym and have a good workout!
-Make a healthy and delicious dinner

Hope everyone has a good day!

BlueToBlue 04-01-2007 10:36 PM

Well, I'm back from vacation. I did great with exercise while I was gone, even did weights with some high intensity cardio four times (normally I just do an abbreviated cardio workout when traveling) and went running twice (once in Sedona--it was beautiful--cold, but beautiful). :carrot: But not so much on the eating. Some days were better than others, but lots of bad food and four--count 'em, that's four--prickley pear margaritas (not all on the same night--that wouldn't have been a pretty sight, my tolerance is pretty low these days :faint: ), way more than four glasses of wine, and at least one beer. :dizzy:

So the plan is to get back on track eating-wise the week and also to figure out how much damage I really did last week.

It's also avocado week at our house. We have four giant avocados that a friend gave us from a tree in her backyard and they are all ripe and ready to eat, so we'll be having lots of dishes with avocado in them. Tonight it will be Avocada-Banana Soup.

Hey, there's a new emoticon--a dancing broccoli :broc: Way Cool!

Cats tongue 04-02-2007 01:20 AM

The dancing broccolli is awesome!

Anyway, Featherweights I cannot believe it is April already! I have one week of classes left. It's crazy, I can't believe how fast this year has flown by.

I have some new April Goals:
- lose 4 inches
My other goals are stepping stones to achieving this one:
- Intuitive Eating. Eating for my hunger not "just because" or the time of day or whatever other excuses I use...
- Eating low calorie/healthy goods when I'm hungry. That means fruits and veggies. fruits and veggies. :)
- exercising everyday. I want to get in an hour or more of exercise a day. I would like to go to the gym two to three times a week. That is the ultimate goal.

Anyway very simple, achievable goals... but I don't expect to be perfect.

And as of Friday morning my measurements are all back to my pre-week-of-horrible-eating, so it's only down from here!

'Night everyone.

Clytemnestra 04-02-2007 02:38 AM

Hi All,

It's nearly the the end of Lent - I have stuck to my plan to give up wine and it has helped me avoid snacking in the evenings. I have "cheated" and weighed myself even thought I said I wouldn't - and I have lost 6 lbs (down to 140) which I am really pleased with. I'm going to carry on as I am this week, then decide if I need to make any more changes after Easter.

I took the dog for a walk after dinner last night - first time this year. It's so much easier to fit the walking in now that the days are longer!

Have a great week all.

2frustrated 04-02-2007 06:11 AM

Wow you're a gossipy lot! :blah:

I had a fabby weekend. I bought a new intuitive eating book - beyond chocolate. It's FANTASTIC! I want to read it all every day over and over and over again, because it made me feel so fab :D

I have no plans for this week except to "Tune In" oh and to buy 30 packets of my "forbidden food" and eat it! :D :T

srmb60 04-02-2007 08:20 AM

Isn't it lovely how quickly this thread gets to be loooong! I love it!

michelinwoman 04-02-2007 09:01 AM

Going to try for Yoga or stretch/strength 3-4x this wk and at least 3 days of cardio (either walking or stationary biking). My acid reflux kicked in Saturday and Sunday...maybe because I overate! My in-laws are coming tomorrow so I have 2 heavy meals planned. Will try to eat very light breakfast and lunch to compensate for the extra evening calories.

I'm hoping losing a few lbs will alleviate my acid reflux. It is a fairly new (and really annoying) development!:carrot: :broccoli:

michelinwoman 04-02-2007 09:01 AM

how do you guys get the dancing broccoli? All I can get is carrot!:carrot:

srmb60 04-02-2007 09:25 AM

Cross posted (how fat-headed of me) but I can't be the only one who wanders off into wishing sometimes .....

I'm having some meandering thoughts about planning today. I think it's a combination of something I posted and something Rockinrobin said ...

I did a little research to see how I'd done last month. From there I picked a calorie number (lower of course) and posted it as my plan for April ... or this week or whatever thread I was in ... like a wish.
"Make it so numba one!"
Now when I go back and check for April it'll be 1501, right?
Uh ... no ... numba one will have to plan the coordinates, methinks. And I'm numba one.

Do you have any idea how many times I've told someone that their plan can't be "I wanna be XYZ by suchandsuchadate"?

I did do a daily planning thread a couple of times last week. It must have been in the back of my mind to be more specific, to actually have a plan. But more often, I kinda let the day be a crapshoot and assessed the damage in the evening.

Today I have to do a kitchen assessment, make a weekly real-life to-do assessment, reread the Body for Life food lists, make a list and get a few groceries. Then I have to query about 5 meals a day of about 250 or 300 cals and actually aim for under 1500 cals per day (insteaded of hoping that my week will divide by seven to make something like 1500 cals).

Now that's a proper plan.

alinnell 04-02-2007 11:39 AM

Barbara~I just love avocados! Saturday I had the leftover half of one filled with tuna. It was so wonderful! Tomorrow, DH and I will be having a chicken avocado salad for lunch.

Happily I woke up to 140.5 this morning!!! Doubt I'll make my Easter goal of 136 at this point, but if I can see 138 I'll be very happy! I know I ate way too little yesterday but I seem to have made up for it already with breakfast!! It was healthy, but way more calories than I usually have. I'll have to watch it the rest of the day if I'm going to keep the scale down.

Everyone have a wonderful day!

I never use the quick post box, I always click the "Post Reply" button at the bottom of the thread. That takes you to a window with more editing options, including several of the popular smilies and a "more" link that pops up a window with all of the smilies that are available. Then I scroll through the list until I find the dancing broccoli (or whatever smilie I'm looking for), click on it, and it is automatically added to my post.

But you can also get it by typing "colon broc colon" (excepting using the ":" symbol instead of typing out the word "colon" and with no spaces).

canadian mom 04-02-2007 01:04 PM

I am gonna try to keep my cals a little under this week cause we will be celebrating my girls bday this weekend (9on the 9th and 10 on the 10th) so there will be cake and ice cream to go along with dinner. I also made cupcakes this weekend for their class and there were some left so i had 2. 2 in 2 days is not that bad but since I am having cake agin next weekend I think I should plan for it this week. My meals will be the same but my snacks during the day will be source yogurt(the 50 cal packs, i just discovered these and I loooooove them) and popcorn at night.

AquaWarlock 04-02-2007 02:05 PM

I've slipped a bit over the latter half of last week (more on the exercise part, I was just very sore all over and generally fatigued, so wasn't up to my usual vigorous aerobics & weight lifts). I hope to get back in the groove this week, starting with eating right today & exercising tomorrow (still feeling sore & lethargic today.)

Food planning:

Breakfast:
1 low fat muffin
cereal + soy milk
half a wafer cookie
TOTAL: 450

Lunch:
Italian Wedding Soup + Extra Greens
TOTAL: 300

Snack:
Bartlett Pear
70

Dinner:
Chicken + Pasta + Veggies
TOTAL: 550

Day's Total: 1370

ennay 04-02-2007 02:10 PM

Hi....<tiptoeing meekly in the room, feeling somewhat like a fraud because...no...that couldn't be ME in a featherweights room>

Well somewhere around 10-15 to go (havent set a final goal) so I guess I can stay!

Last week was vacation, so back on plan this week! Fortunately it was a skiing vacation so my food porn diet still led to ~ a 1 lb loss.

srmb60 04-02-2007 02:26 PM

And stay you should! Look what you've accomplished!

alinnell 04-02-2007 02:27 PM

ennay~you're too funny! Of course you fit in here with us featherweights!!!

Warlock~I love Italian Wedding soup. Do you make your own? Care to share the recipe if you do?

Doughnut 04-02-2007 03:00 PM

hello ennay - see you broke the 140 barrier that you were struggling with :carrot:

AquaWarlock 04-02-2007 03:03 PM

Alinnel, I'm cheating with the Campbell's select version in a can (and not even the "Low Sodium" variety either, I tried that once and that was super bland!) ~ I'm adding extra mixed greens to make it a bit healthier, however.

ennay 04-02-2007 03:25 PM

Thanks!!!!

I still feel like a fraud though. I went to a gathering about a week ago and walked in the room and realized that not only was I not "one of the chubby girls" in the room, that probably there were a few people looking at ME as a "thin girl"

It is going to take quite some time before my brain can associate myself as anything but "a little overweight" which is where I was most of my life . (On the flip side when I was 184 and obese I still thought I was just "a little overweight")

That's okay! I cheat too!. I just checked my "stash" here at work and mine is the Campbells Select! I buy the microwaveable ones that are supposed to be about 2 servings, but I usually eat the whole thing! They may be high in sodium but at least they aren't terrible in the calorie department!

YuppieGirlie 04-02-2007 04:06 PM

So, yesterday was a good day and a bad day. A close family friend passed away in the morning, and I was a weeping mess for most of the day. I ate a veggie burrito and chips, and queso @ Moe's, and unlike my usual self I ate the ENTIRE thing and was then kind of surprised - as was my bf who never sees me eat "close to half" of anything. It was like I had a hole inside and I tried to toss food in there to fill it up - but food doesn't really help guilt.

I haven't done the best job today either, in fact , but have made much better choices since yesterday. I'm still sort of in shock to be honest. I also got back a lot of blood work testing from m y doctor and the bad news weight loss wise is that I can't be eating fewer than 1400 calories pretty much no matter what - otherwise I start losing my hair :( which really stinks. Obviously of healthy foods. I can lose the rest of those calories through daily exercise if I choose, according t o her. When I told her I had been eating 1200 calories or so she was kinda upset and said that was way too restrictive nutrient wise and after hair analysis and trying to determine why I keep getting sick that seems to be the consensus among the three doctors.

So; my new goal is to actually do some exercise each day, (yesterday I did awesome at swing dance - really danced my butt off!), and to cut the amount of sugar and desserts from my daily calories (yes, even with 1200 calories, I managed to eat dessert and just much less actual food ). My boyfriend goes to the Y, and I now have a friend who is starting up water aerobics there... so I may become a member, join her and do water aerobics a few times per week.

I am also setting a weight loss goal of five pounds for this month! I can do it!!!

*less sugar (dessert once/week - planning!!)
*keep counting calories, try not to be too restrictive and make sure I'm getting varieties of foods and not just the ones I know the calories of - use other ways of measuring "the rule of 10" for small things , "the rule of five" for bigger things, and the "fits in your hand" rule.
*daily weighing
* exercise each day for twenty minutes - even if it's sit ups and yoga in my own living room.

I get to weigh on the scale that had me at 143 (not my home scale) in two weeks. My goal is to be in the 130's on that scale by then - even with a vacation weekend and easter in between.

It feels good to write it all out!
:carrot:

Maybe the weirdest thing is all the compliments I'm getting when I feel like I'm really stuck hovering around the weight I'm at and wanting to lose another 15 pounds.

Going to need to eat more of these guys :broc:

sweet_talker 04-02-2007 08:13 PM

Just one busy couple of days and I miss so much!! There are a lotta Featherweights compared to 6 months ago :D

Hahaha: I love this :broc: and how it's completely infiltrated this thread. :p

I am happy that you're here, Ennay, I like your posts! I always recognize them. Welcome.

Yuppiegirlie -- I'm sorry that your having such a hard time  it must feel wretched. Going up to 1400 calories isn't that bad, it's not as though you're going to completely stall or something like that -- 1400 is still not many at all!! Don't get too caught up on it, you need to keep your hair :p

Also, what makes something a wedding soup? I mean, I assume it was originally served at weddings, but what's in it that makes it special? I stay away from soups usually because of the sodium, sometimes I get 'em, though.

Last night my friend and I made dinner at her house, we had wraps with tons of veggies and chicken breast, homemade sweet potato fries, and this chocolate cake that was so ridiculously gooey it made me feel guilty. MMMMMMMM....I will remember it fondly. I can't wait till I am living at home again and can cook. My dad is picking me up a week Wednesday!!! AHHHHH!!

Hope you're all having a great Monday.
