Default Hey all, new featherweight (college student)

Heyyy all. My name is Sarah Jane, and I'm a victim of... yes... the freshman 15. Well no, not really... I'm actually a sophomore, and my freshman year of college I managed to LOSE 10 pounds... yet I've put that back on, and then some. The fact is, I have been a yo-yo dieter since the age of 12, just like my mom... and I'm trying, as always, to take the weight off for good.

I am not new to 3FC, but I never really stuck with the forums because I often felt out of place... I'd meet people who I loved talking to, but many had 100+ pounds to lose, and preferred (understandably) to seek support from people with similar goals. I lost a total of 60 pounds from my top weight (4 years ago) to my skinniest (last winter), so I know what it feels like to have a lot to lose, but I now understand that one of the greatest challenges of all is when you feel okay about your body, but not really happy with it yet. It's exhausting to feel this sort of inadequacy for years, and years, and years.... I guess I'm just feeling bummed constantly about my weight.

Anyway, I'm glad to be joining featherweights and I look forward to talking to all of you! Thanks for reading this... and any other college students or 20-somethings, hit me up! I'd love to chat, with anyone and everyone...

Welcome to the Featherweights!! Jump in and join us in our weekly challenge chats and in our "tearoom."

So what did you do to lose the 60 pounds? Obviously you did something right!!! Have you discovered that it isn't necessarily a diet but a lifestyle change? I think more and more people here are realizing just that.

My DD will be off to college in 2008 and I hope she doesn't fall victim to the freshman 15. I did, but not until my sophomore year. I had such a rotten time getting that weight off. I don't even like to look back at photos from that time. Ick!

By the way, I'm not sure whether this will work, but I want to post some before and after photos of my dieting success... if the direct links to the pictures don't work, I'll just edit this post and put up a link to the snapfish photo gallery.

Okay here we go:

My before pictures (approx. 180 pounds... winter of 2000 to 2001):

Soooo, yeah, those are my weight loss pics! I also have an inspirational pic (I change mine every few months or so to keep the motivation fresh), but right now it is this:

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this! I love to look at other peoples' pictures, its really inspiring for me, so I encourage you to post your own here too!

EDIT:

Okay so clearly that didn't work. I will try posting a link to the snapfish photo album where they reside... hope it works!

Wow!!!

So, is that at 139 - it doesn't look as if you have anything to lose there.

I'm a 20 year old college junior. :-D At either weight you are really pretty! We look to be in about the same weight range if that helps. (I haven't weighed in months because I get obsessed though I have lost a few inches here and there). I'm a whole foodie who counts calories. Are you on or off campus?
