Default Featherweights Reevaluate Jan 14-21

It is Sunday, the day of rest. And a good day to think and reevaluate.
How'd last week go? Is there something on which you can improve?
Well? What'll it be this week? A little more intense cardio? a little more protein? an extra day of weigh lifting? What small change can you make this week to keep you on a straighter path to slim fitness?

So glad you're back Susan! You keep us on track.

What small change can I make to keep me on a straighter path to slim fitness? Well, I suppose it would be to rethink my addiction to comfort food, or at least reevaluate my need for those creamy, cheesy dishes that I crave in the cold weather. If only I could satisfy my food needs with a nice salad in winter! Sure my daily salad for lunch is fine, but my dinner ritual seems to require a cooked item. I'll have to at least peruse my Cooking Light cookbook for lighter cooked fare.

I bought some tofu for the first time on Friday, along with a number of other healthy foods. So this week is going to be full of trying new recipes, since I tend to be a bit nervous about ruining food when I cook.

Also going to work on running longer. I'm somewhere around 4 minutes (I run for the length of a song, instead of looking at the clock), so I'm going to try for 5-6 minutes by Saturday.

I bought the "You on a Diet" book and am halfway through reading it. Also, signed up on MyDailyPlate.com to track my food/fitness calories. Went to Niketown and bought some snazzy workout clothes for the gym then ran across the street to the Apple store for that Nike running module and an ipod Nano. Last week I hired a personal trainer and we worked out today. I can barely move but I know that this is what I need to do to accomplish my goals. I figure, if I throw everything at this, I can lose those last 10 lbs.

I stumbled upon a very strange strategy for weight loss in the last week. Since the new semester started I've been hanging around with girls lately, instead of my usual group of guys and now...I've started eating less like my guy friends (whatever, in huge quantities) and more like my girl friends (more fruit, veggies, water...in smaller quantities).

And the girls took me dancing on Saturday and today, for 2 hours a piece! I know am a beginner at west-coast swing, tango, salsa, merengue and bachata. I would highly recommend any of them! Sooo fun. I have something new to add to my exercise regime

I think I could do with getting more veggies in this week - although saying that it's just the weekends that tend to dip in the veggie section. Yesterday I had an apple! Last week I was getting 5-7 portions a day in.

I think I just need to tighten up and focus to stop myself carrying on in the relaxed way that I did at the weekend. I wasn't bad per se, but just a little bit more relaxed, which is what I needed since I was burning out a bit. I didn't go bonkers though, so maybe I found some balance. I'd like to scales to drop a pound or so this week, that would be nice

During the week I'm 99% focussed, it's the weekend that the food is off, not a lot but just more relaxed and I gain the 2# I lost during the week... Next weekend I will definitely focus on eating clean, there is NOTHING going on that I know of .... Today so far egggwhites and oatmeal/psyllium, chest and tricep in a few minutes when I get off the computer... TTFN have a great day girls...

Nothing new for me, just buckling down. I should read my own signature while I'm on vacation!
Since I've been using the scales at work, I have until Thursday afternoon (when I work again) to dump off some of this toxic flab I've accumulated. I already feel a lot better. So clean food until then is my aim.
I'm home alone today and tomorrow so I can exercise and do whatever I want, whenever I want, dressed as poorly as I'd like
Because it's fat that's the problem, I should do cardio everyday and I'd like to fit in 2 LBWO's and one UBWO.
I should almost make a cardio minutes ticker ... hmm ..

Sue, also glad you're back! Hope you had a nice holiday.

Carey, I also love to salsa..it is a great dance and the music is beautiful (my favorite genre actually).

I have the same problem as Ilene. I lose during the week and gain it back on the weekend. This has been a life long pattern (at least since I began working in offices many many years ago).

I've only been to the gym 2 times per week the last few weeks. Its just so hard to get there sometimes and that takes time away from my little baby. So I've decided to get an elliptical for home so I can work out in the comfort of my living room while my little DD plays in her playpen. NO EXCUSES! DH keeps joking about why I'm going to get a machine I'll only use twice. He obviously doesn't know me very well! I will be on that thing lots trying to get my calorie deficit up. Any brand recommendations would be appreciated.

Happy Martin Luther King day gurlz

*Claudia*

I just spent 25 minutes looking everywhere ... logical, convenient and ridiculous ... for my heart rate monitor. I gave up, seriously. The only place I didn't look was in the kitchen. Who on God's green earth has a hrm in the kitchen?
Um ... me apparently. On an open shelf ... there was the mini tote with my hrm, mp3 accessories, discman, headphones etc.

Yes, I never looked again after I found it I even have it on and it's never been over 91.
However ... I'm feeling very accomplished and domestic today. I've got steelcut oats in the crock. Soup on the stove. Laundry on the go. About six pounds of dust in the vaccuum instead of on the floor ... Haaaa ...

I'm cold! BRRRRR! I suppose it's good for calorie burning! We've got monsoon season over here. Yuk!

Last night I got my little kickboxers all motivated for their belt tests! Oh there's one girl who "wants to get a lot of belts done this year..." Well if she actually put any EFFORT in she might be doing ok, but she just stands around and flicks her hair! There's more to being a black belt than going through the belt tests! You actually have to be motivated to train...

In weight-related news, the scales are interestingly up a pound since yesterday (I'm weighing daily as an experiment) which I think is because I didn't drink that much yesterday. I'm also feeling like I've got a bit of a cold coming on today, so it might be that I also know that I didn't do enough cardio yesterday. In fact I think I might not tick off cardio yesterday I did so little. I did 5 mins stroll on the treadmill at an incline, then 5 mins stroll on the recumbent bike. Then I didn't really get hot and sweaty while I was teaching yesterday, although I did do what I usually do maybe it was cold in the hall...

It's leg day today I'm ahead of my squat goal at the moment, but I will aim high since I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make gains like this in another couple of months.

Good morning gals! I'm doing the desk clerk today. Drives me nuts sitting at a computer rather than walking the halls and pt rooms ... however ... they pay me

Exercise is much improved but I'm having a nibbly problem that is messing with my percentages.
