Default Hello., I'm new. Lost 70 now I have to diet for the last 10

Hello Everyone,

I'm new and this forum is great.............

I'm 45 and never dieted before. I love food and made a decision that I would choose food as my hobby and if the trade off was being overweight, then that was fine with me. Even at 210lbs, my weight never bothered me. Unfortunately, it bothered my Doctor and my back and one day my world came crashing in on me and I realized that I had to choose between food and a wheelchair if I didn't do something about my weight so I learned portion control and started walking to work. I was never an emotional or stress eater, nor a binge eater. It is now 2 years later and I weigh 140 lbs and need to lose 8 more. My body just stopped losing weight about 6 months ago so it looks like I will have to start a real diet program but I'm at a loss. I've never done a formal diet before and there are SOOOOOOOOOO MANY out there.

If someone can please post what seems to be working for them I would be very grateful. I want to lose those last 10 lbs.

Thank you all and I look forward to our journey together.

Blimey - what an achievement so far! Welcome then to 3fc. Only joined myself this month but so far I've been saved from giving up completely and thereafter from snack attacks I didn't need. I wish I was only 10lbs away from target but by the time I get there you'll probably be finished!

Welcome, Aniles!

Congrats on your accomplishment so far!

Everyone here seems to be on some different kind of plan, and none of them are better than another (IMO), but some work better for some people. Personally, I count my calories and my fat intake (1200 calories and less than 30% from fat). I also stay away from processed foods (no partially hydrogenated vegetable oil for me!) and try to eat whole foods.

Hi Aniles and ...

I've discovered that losing weight is not rocket science... Eat less + move more = loss of weight ... Go figure... I count calories also I go to fitday.com (it's free), I try to eat as clean as possible, meaning that I don't eat process and eat whole foods ... I eat lots of fish and veggies, cottage cheese and fruit... Except to day I had about 10 fries ...

I exercise regularly, my exercise of choice is biking and swimming in the summer time, running and weight training year round...

Good luck and please join us on our weekly thread, which will start over on Monday morning, because we've been a bunch of slackers over the last month or so, so we need to get motivated and going again...
