Default I'm stuck I think

I have been doing FS for a month or so now. The first I did the Ph1 i lost good weight. But was exercising alot more then the calories I was taking in and thought it was my diet so I stopped and ended up binging and gaining all the weight back then I found this site and found great recipes and read some replies to the problems of being dizzy and weak and found that I wasnt eating enough. I found great recipes and ideas on here and was able to go the full 9 days on the detox.

I'm having a problem on PH2.. my problem is that the first day or two I do ok but then its like I have no direction to follow like in the detox its very outlined so I end up relaxing and cheating here and there and then the holidays came thru so I ended up gaining all my weight that I lost. So just a few days after getting off the detox phase I have to go back on it. I do great on the detox cuz its very outlined of what to eat and when to eat it but Ph2 seems very loose and I have no ideas for things to eat. I keep teter toting back and forth on my weight and cant get past 147 for almost a month now.

Anyone out there with some good ideas for me or even if ya have a food journal to post a few days worth so I can use as a guideline for me to use. Oh I dont eat any kind of seafood.

One other question on my detox'n I loved the Sweet Potatoe fries Recipe posted here at 3FC so I ate them everyday for my lunch. And now that I think about it all thru my detox phase I never changed my daily eating so could that be why I havent lost any weight.

Here's what I ate everyday of my detox:
Breakfast:
Oatmeal Cookie (recipe located in the recipe section here made with ripe bananas and I did not use splenda)
Lg Glass of Milk

Snack:
Herbal Tea & Very Cherry Yogpliat Fat Free Light Yogurt

Lunch:
Sweet Potatoe Fries (located in recipe sec here)
Herbal Tea

Snack:
Cantelope or My Very Berry Smoothie (i posted recipe)

Dinner:
Bowl of Homemade Pinto Beans (cooked with onions and a strip of bacon but didnt eat the bacon...figured this was ok since we r allowed 1 tsp of olive oil)
Sliced Cucumbers and Tomatoes with less then a tbs of Lite Done Right Italian dressing.

Thats it thats all I would eat everyday for 9 days. Only weight I would lose is the weight I gained when I would be in my second day of PH2 and then binge for like a day or two.

I seem to do really good with Structure if I have an outline diet to follow I can stick to it but the moment I get any kind of freedom bang! I binge.

Any help or suggestion is needed!!!!

Thanks ya'll

Let me add that I do eat egg whites every other day

Hi lgordy~

I had some of the same problems. I did great on detox the first time. I lost 6 lbs. I ended up staying on detox for a few more weeks and lost 9 more lbs. I then progressed to phase 2 and proceeded to BLOW IT! I just couldn't keep myself from cheating here and there. Then, Thanksgiving came and I ended up with a 4 lb gain. UGH! I had no control anymore. My dh started FS with me in Sept. He has lost 47 lbs to date. He has had no problem at all. I have always had problems with portion size. I have a very healthy appetite. I just don't know when to quit. So... to tell me that I can have as much as I want of veggies, fruit and beans is not a good thing. I went overboard. So.... I started counting my calories also. It has really helped me to see how many calories I am eating. I didn't just eat until I was satisfied. I ate until everything was gone. LOL! Leftovers just don't happen in my house.
Now I make sure that I am within my calorie range. I have lost 3.6 lbs this week. I plan out my meals a day ahead of time and print the menu out. Then, I just follow it the next day. When I get to the end of it... I am done for the day. I have done really good with it this week.

From looking at your detox menu... looks like you are getting all of your nutrients in. Are you getting enough calories?? I don't know the quantities of the foods you have listed. Maybe you could try to add another snack in after dinner.

What is your menu like for phase 2?

Are you still exercising? That is crucial. What about eating every 3 hours to keep your metabolism up? This keeps your body in fat burning mode.

Detox may not give you the results you want every time. Especially since you only have 26 more lbs to go until you reach your goal.

I think you should move on to phase 2 and count your calories every day. You may be binging because you are not eating enough. Also... I know that if I have "forbidden" foods in my house... I will more than likely eat them! So.. I don't buy things that I can't have. Simple as that.

You said that you do good if you have an outlined diet to follow... so do what I do. Make up your menus and follow them. I have to see exactly what I am supposed to eat for each meal. It takes some time to sit down and figure up what the calories are for everything, but it is so worth it. Then, I print it out and keep the menus for future meals. I have about 8 or so that I use over and over again.

Hope something I said helped.

I know I rambled on and on. SORRY!

Sherry

oh and drink plenty of water. Sometimes we mistake thirst for hunger.

Good luck!

Why not try to just add a couple of foods at a time when you go to phase 2? So, treat it like phase one but add a couple of foods a week. That way you will still have the same structure and not too many choices to throw you off.

Also, I don't think you are eating enough variety of veggies. I know you can have sweet potatoes on Fat Smash, but I am not surprised that you are having problems if you are eating the same stuff every day. If you ARE going to eat the same stuff every day, you are better off eating salad and steamed broccoli. These foods aren't necessarily more nutritious than sweet potatoes, but they are less starchy and more cleansing foods. They may help to curb your cravings once you transition to phase 2.

Have you tried tofu? Eating more protein could help. If you don't care for it there are so many ways you can add it to other recipes with herbs and spices. It will absorb the other flavors and blend in.

I do think you need to eat more in general. Maybe you are starving yourself to the point of lowering your metabolism. This will really mess you up when you go to phase 2. This could be why you are gaining it back so quickly.

Good luck!

I agree that you aren't eating enough variety or calories from what I can tell. You need more different kinds of fruits & veggies. I count my calories every single day and know for me at 5'7", 148 need about 1200-1300 per day average. Sometimes I have less but never many less than that. Try slicing an apple and boiling it while you cook some oatmeal and then stir it all in together w/ some cinnamon. YUMMY. I also add frozen or fresh berries to my plain or vanilla nonfat yogurt along w/ some frozen or canned peach slices. I snack on seedless grapes as well. I also steam broccoli and eat w/ my rice or if youa ren't a big veggie fan, try chopping zucchini or squash very small or shredding it along w/ some onion and cooking it with your rice. Add some soy sauce and it is really tasty without tasting too much like vegetables. My sample menu from this week:

Today
Breakfast smoothie
3/4 c frozen peach slices
4 fresh strawberries
1/2 c vanilla nonfat yogurt
juice from one freshly squeezed orange

snack
apple

lunch
miso soup
vegetarian california rolls (made w/ brown rice, carrots & cucumber)

dinner
I plan to have steamed broccoli and a little corn

snack
seedless grapes and maybe another smoothie (can you tell they are my favorites?)

yesterday
breakfast
1/4 c (dry) steel cut oats
1 boiled apple
added 1 pkg splenda and cinnamon to taste

snack
grapes

lunch
1 c brown rice w/ steamed broccoli and a few squirts of I can't believe its Not Butter spray, few dashes of seasoned salt

snack
1/3 c soy nuts

dinner
1 c brown rice
1 c steamed squash
1 t soy sauce

snack
smoothie listed above

I have a feeling if you keep FS boring and eating the same things, your body isn't going to let go of weight and you are going to give up. Its all about variety. Try some of recipes on the recipes thread. I modified the pizza a little and now it is one of my favorite things. Try some veggie soup, it lasts a few days and is great to take to work.

When I started P2, I didn't jump in full steam ahead. I added in my meat (grilled chicken, turkey or fish for me as I am not a beef eater) once per day and stuck to the P1 the rest of the time except my 1 egg that I had at breakfast. This was good for me because I never ate meat twice per day before I started FS so it wasn't a big deal.

Good luck to you! Lem
