Hi all! I have not been around the boards for a few days and had a lot of catching up to do! I've been trying to stay on track, and have been for the most part. Yesterday I had 2 margaritas, but it was a special occasion as I was with a friend I have not seen in AGES! Oh well.

I was craving mashed potatoes yesterday, so I took some frozen turnips and mashed those and made a pan gravy with some shallot, mushrooms, veggie stock, and the tiniest bit of cornstarch to thicken. Seasoned the gravy w/ pepper and thyme and it was sooo good! Def curbed the potato craving.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Yikes -- no garden salad at McDonalds!!!

So I told my kids I would take them to McDonald’s :mcd:today. No big deal, I’ll have a garden salad:carrot:. McDonald’s doesn’t have a garden salad anymore! So I opted for the Asian Chicken Salad with low-fat dressing. What I didn’t know is that they put dressing on it:mad:!!!! So, I didn’t add any extra dressing and I wiped off what I could from the grilled chicken breast, which I only ate about half of. I’m on phase two and I hope I didn’t totally mess it up for me today!

So a warning :coach:– if you order an Asian Salad from McDonald’s, request that they do not put the dressing on it!

Take care,
Bonnie Jean

Day four of official phase one for me - it's really not so bad! :) I made lentil soup in the crockpot yesterday (a different recipe from the one in the recipe thread - I'll post this one there, too) and it was delicious - I even put a dollop of lowfat yogurt on top - definitely good eats. I also made the roasted garbanzo beans (great for snacking) and with a refrigerator full of fruits and veggies, I feel quite well-prepared.

My only problem is this - my husband, who has been doing the Fat Smash plan with me, has been seriously crabby all week! I don't know if it's the carb withdrawal or the caffeine withdrawal, but I'm at the point where I'm hiding behind my desk (we work together, too) tossing grapes at him in an attempt to get his blood sugar up! Is anyone else experiencing this? He's normally an easy-going fellow. He's also been exhausted all the time, even though we've been getting more sleep than we've had in months.

Both his parents are diabetic and I know he's borderline type 2 - I don't know much about diabetes but might that have something to do with it? Please advise! I don't know if I've escaped these side effects because I did a preliminary Fat Smash eating plan last week, or what, but this part isn't much fun for either of us!

Thanks for listening.

brandilynn24- That is awesome ideal!

Bonnie Jean-Ughhh that stinks about the salad! I am sure you will be just fine, especially since you only went with half! Did the kids have a good time?

I had an awesome day, I had no problem staying within the plan. I walk a mile this morning, another this evening and did 30 stomache crunches. I learned that stomache crunches suck! My husband said, oh you can do 50, ummm NO! 30 was pushing it..lol. It is somewhere to start!!

I made a yummy dinner of brown rice with grilled zuchinni, tomatoes and onions. I used a little of virgin olive oil in the skillet for flavor and no sticking, it was soooooo good! I actullay made the 2 whole cups of rice, I only ate 1/2 I was full. I drank a ton of water so that was good too.

I do miss coffee though!

Hey all,

I ended up making vegetarian chili for dinner. It was really good.

I am going to go back to phase 1 for 9 more days starting tomorrow. I caught myself nibbling on graham crackers (my toddler's snack) today. I also ate too much chili. I skipped both of my snacks!!! I need to go back and get control again before I lose it all together. I need to watch my portions. That has always been a problem for me.

Have a great night!

Sherry

Selkie- I am type 2 diabetic and I have been ok throughout. Everyone is different though. Has his numbers been ok, since being on this plan? I know the caffeine withdrawl would be enough to make anyone crabby and more tired, even though he's getting more rest. If this is day 4 for hubby too, and his sugar is ok give it a couple more days and if not better maybe check with his doctor just to be safe.

Sherry- This being my second time on PH1, I feel much better. I think changing up the menu a little has helped kickstart the weight loss the way I lost when I first began. The first thing that came natural to me was my portions on PH 1 and now I notice I am on a better schedule and portions are in check..so good luck too ya

Mellybelly-MMmm Margarita's that would have been hard for me to pass up especially with an old friend to catch up with. Those Turnip taters are good, I ate those when I was on Atkins.

Bonnie- Thanks for the salad tip. When Im in a bind I always wonder what fast food place will have something acceptable besides Subway salad. I know I got a salad from burger king before and it was ok I just had to pick off all the cheese. They had it all clumped in one spot so it was easy.

Well ladies keep on Smashing it and Smile..tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!! :hyper: :woohoo:

Morning.

I fell off the horse last night. My wife and I both did and binged.

I feel ashamed.

Don't be ashamed

It happens to everyone once in a while! And sometimes after I've dieted for a while, a binge (which makes me feel ill) sets me straight and I get back on track.

Good luck! :goodluck:

As for me, I am so hungry this afternoon! So I think I am going to go make some hummus :stir: and have it with raw vegetables. I'll have something to snack on to make it until dinner!

Hope everyone is well!

Take care,
Bonnie Jean

 Jenn! Don't be ashamed. It happens to all of us. If this "dieting" thing was easy... everyone would be skinny. ;) Hang in there. The beauty of Fat Smash is that it is forgiving. Just stay on detox a bit longer. I actually started it again today.

You can do this!!!

Sherry:D

brandilynn24 10-20-2006 11:54 PM

Jen, don't be upset about it. I did it a week ago, but for 2 days and the best part about it all... We admitted we strayed and were back on plan!!! It won't be the last time we ate something we shouldn't have, and felt guilty about it. So HURRAY for you to jumping back on that wagon!! :dust:

Wide in Winnipeg 10-21-2006 12:22 AM

Jenne, we all fall of the wagon, just dust the cookie crumbs off and hop back on! Come on, let me help....LOL! I'm getting silly in my old age! But I'm here to chat with if you need me, and I'm sure everyone else here on FSD is too!

Jenn, just looking at your numbers I can see what a fantastic job you've already done - everybody goes off plan every once in a while. I think it's also a good thing that your wife went OP with you - now y'all can jump back on the wagon together! :goodluck:

Brandilynn - thanks for the advice. Not knowing much about diabetes makes it pretty scary for me - I see what poor shape his parents are in and I just panic (this is not to say my family doesn't have its own problems; it's just in other areas...) Yesterday he was back to his normal mellow self - he even admitted that he'd been a real grouch. Then he snuck on the scale and found he's lost 15 pounds! There's motivation for you, not to mention a mood booster!

Y'all wish me luck today - there's a Community Festival here and I committed months ago to being one of the tasting judges for the pumpkin recipe contest. I wonder if, as in wine tasting, it's ok to taste and spit? Or would that be too offensive? ;) Not to mention that my sister and her two girls are coming over for the festivities, along with a friend and her two kids, added to the two we have here already - that's a lot of caramel apples and kettle corn! I will be strong, but if you could send a few good thoughts my way...? I'm on day 6 and I'm definitely not going to throw in the towel now!

Happy smashing, everyone! :cb:

Onederland!

Hi,
I am barely in one-derland... by the skin of my teeth... 199.8. But I checked 3 times and that's what it said all 3 times so I'll take it!! That's 25.2 pounds lost.

Jenne, definitely do NOT feel ashamed. If you are too hard on yourself that will be what keeps you from getting back on and trying again. Stay strong! We all have experienced that and it is normal. It's a journey... just keep taking one little step at a time. If you fall down... it's ok. You came to the right place! This is where you find out that you don't have to be perfect to be successful.

I am really only able to get on here on the weekends, so I have to do some reading and catching up. Have a happy Saturday everyone!

:)

tinamarie 10-21-2006 11:29 AM

Morning all! I am on day 4 and have been doing well. I have even managed to stay off the scale!!

I made yogurt with banannas and berries last night then popped it in the freezer and OMG it was sooooo good!

Hope you are all doing well! Have a great weekend!
