Default The good news and the bad news

The good news: Nicole and I weighed in on Monday (would have been Day 9 of detox). She lost 5 pounds of the 10 she wants to lose. I lost 7 of the 35 I want to lose. We planned to eat Phase 1 save a few fat free hot dogs and some vegetarian baked beans while we were camping Monday and Tuesday. Not so...

The bad news: The dogs slid into the fire. Then, the fire went out. The 3 remaining dogs we had were smoked and not cooked because we couldn't get the coals and fire hot enough. We wound up eating CRAP Monday and Tuesday.

The good news: We actually felt like crap last night. I mean, we had a 3.3 mile hike to a waterfall (downhill to the falls, uphill back). I thought I'd have a heart attack. But we made it. And while I am a bit sore, it's my stomach that hurts. We ate crapily (Blackberry Ice Cream Pie anyone?) and it shows. So, we're back on Phase 1 for Wed-Monday. We'll weigh in on Monday again and hopefully show at least another 2 pound loss (from the original loss that is).

Tuesday is my birthday and we will go off diet. Not crazy mind you: either Thai or Italian. And by Italian I mean mussels marinara, a salad and cheese maybe dessert. Oh and a glass of chianti.

That's the plan anyway. Let's see how it goes. I am surprised by the way I've adapted to eating smaller portions and eating vegetarian! It hasn't been THAT hard at all! We'll see if I still feel that way after ANOTHER week on Phase 1!

Hey Jenn - I still think you're doing great. Any number of people would look at the two days off and figure, "Aw, heck, I messed this up, might as well quit." And who could eat smoked, undercooked, fat-free hot dogs anyhow?

I started phase one on Sunday - I'm looking at an extended visit myself since I have a conference this weekend and, while I'll do the best I can, I'm not going to have any control over the food they put in front of me. So I figure after this Sunday I'll have another phase 1 stint (another 9 days? 7? I'm not sure if I need to redo the whole deal or not).

And enjoy your birthday on Tuesday! I'm allergic to mussels and all other shellfish myself, but if it was my birthday I'd be all about the cheese! That's probably the only thing I really miss - I don't mind going vegetarian or cutting out the sugar but take away my cheese...!

Good luck!

Yeah -- we miss the cheese too. So, we'd sometimes sub 1 oz of FF cheese for yogurt. I know it's not approved but we lost all that weight and were HAPPY!
