Default Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

Hi all -

Been lurking around for a couple of days...have a question.... the oatmeal cookie recipe looks great, but thought we were supposed to stay away from artificial sweeteners (splenda) during phase one.

Am I wrong?

Thanks

We are, as part of the detox. However, the author has said that if we are not interested in the detox, we can include up to 2 Tbsp artificial sweetener per day. I'm gathering that from posts in the yahoo groups that supposedly quote him, it's not something in the book. I personally am still using Splenda, but I've reduced the amounts I use.

Hope that helps!

Gottcha - I suppose you could still make them w/o the splenda anyways. Sometimes this diet seems so confusing!

Default Oatmeal Cookies w/o Splenda

Well, purely by accident I made these without the Splenda...just forgot. THey were ok, but I did notice. I think if the banana is really ripe it will be sweeter so that may hide the missing SPlenda...my banana was just ripe. I also up the vanilla and almond extracts and the flavor is even better. I know these are not chocolate chip, but some mornings I make them fresh...I use a small cookie scoop so they are all the same size and then I eat them warm with a big cold glass of milk....yum! I think I will go make some now

Both of my girls (2 and 5) LOVE these. I made them with raisins and they ate them up! Will be making them again!!!

Did anyone else try them w/o the splenda?

Yes, I did make these without Splenda. I noticed the difference, but I think if the banana is REALLY ripe...it will be sweeter naturally.

Sorry Kitty I made these and ate three and could eat no more. I didn't have the almond extract and my bananas weren't that ripe, and I used like 10 packs of splenda. Guess I was just thinking oatmeal cookie and it didn't taste like one. I will probably try them again though....does it matter if you use old fash oatmean or the 1 minute...All the big containers looked the same.
