I do not own the book (I'm a grad student and I have to save money) but I understand that Phase 1 is primariy fruits and veggies. In 2001 I did a six week fruit fast (I was diagnosed with GERD and wanted to give my digestive system a rest). I liked the results and the way I felt so I'm going to do another fruit fast. I think I will do 6-8 weeks.

Phase 1 includes more than fruits and veggies, we are also to include dairy and lots of whole grains It's really a very filling and nutritious plan, and easy to stick to since there's so much variety.
