If you want to do it quickly and you only have 10-25 pounds to lose, the Extreme Smash is a good way to go. The style works for me, anyway.
EFS is easy to follow since the meals and portions and amounts of exercise are all listed out. I'm just finishing phase 3 and will probably repeat for one more set of cycles to try to get to my goal. My 2nd week was mostly maintaining, probably due to a sprained ankle and therefore less activity for most of the cycle.
I'm a little worried about regaining it, but I plain on following the maintenance guidelines and therefore not really stopping my new habits. If I gain any, I'll do a cycle to get it off again and continue to learn how to do it on my own. I think that the three weeks of dieting have been really good for identifying portion sizes and also eating more frequently in smaller amounts and more fruits/veggies. The regular exercise and meals should keep the metabolism from sinking during the weight-loss phases. I think I can keep up with my new habits because I feel much better than when I ate three meals a day and no snacks on weight watchers (I maintained on WW for 4 yrs, then gained 1/2 of the weight back when I got married and my lifestyle changed). There have been days during each cycle where I was at someone's house and couldn't fully control my meals, but eating what I thought was the smartest option in a small portion was still satisfying and I still lost weight.
My only complaint when doing the EFS cycles was that I felt a little weak initially when I was doing my normal weight lifting and aerobic activities, but I found that drinking lots of water and having one of my snacks about an hour before my workout really helped with that. In the third cycle I have felt much better, now that I know what snacks work for me and when.
That's my opinion for what it's worth!
