Default Started today

Hi everyone,

I just bought the book last night and started the diet this morning. So far, so good. All I've eaten so far is fruit, but I've been reading the recipes and I'm planning on having the Fiesta salad tonight. It looks really good!!

Last year around this time, I went on Sonoma. I dropped 30 pounds by June. I plateaued, stopped visiting this site, and now I've gained 26 pounds back

I can't seem to stay on any diet so I thought maybe I needed something new. Thanks for all of the AWESOME recipes. I thought it was going to be a hard nine days, but I'm very encouraged now

Sheila

Hey Sheila - Welcome! For me the first 3 days were hardest, I had very low energy, headaches from the caffeine withdrawal and I didn't plan my meals well. I think once you get into and see the scale moving, you will stay motivated. I now find detoxing to be easy, as long as I plan everything out for the week. Good luck. Lem

First day down I don't think I planned real well yesterday because I ate mostly fruits and veggies during the day. Last night I was on my own for dinner and had the Fiesta salad that I found in the recipes. It was AWESOME!!!

I know the book says that you shouldn't weigh for ten days, but I get motivated by getting on the scale. I dropped four pounds! I know it was mostly water, but still to see a drop like that is pretty exciting

good luck Sheila. As long as you plan you can't go wrong. I am starting p3 today, and it seems to be going well thus far...as long as I plan ahead.

Good for you. I have 2 more days of phase 3 left. I really love this diet.

Default re: caffeine withdrawal

I decided to keep one 12oz. can of diet Coke in my diet, to avoid extreme caffeine withdrawal. I'll probably taper over the next few days until I'm off the caffeine. I do this a few times a year (weaning myself off of caffeine), so I know how it can be done effectively and with limited pain/irritation.

I know most detox plans call for no sugar (soda) and no artificial sweeteners. But, I think that part of the science behind the recommendation is that the "sweetness" of even diet soda causes some people to crave more sweets. I just don't allow myself to cave into that. Sure, artificial sweeteners aren't great for us -- and a detox is designed to get all of the bad stuff out of our systems -- but you need to do what works in order to stay on the plan. Caffeine withdrawal does not work for me.
