Default anybody reading scale down

This book had a tremendous effect on me the first time i read it and I lost about 30pounds with a peace and happiness i had never had before. unfortunately i let life take over and have managed to gain that and several more pounds back. I am a christian who is growing and searching in my faith all the time. I would love to hear how this book may have affected others!

let me know if you get it and what you think. a lot of same concepts as weigh down but put in wording and "frame of mind" that really connected with me. Hope you enjoy it

ELEM-PGF, I placed the order the same day of my original post. I ordered used from Amazon so I haven't gotten the book yet but I look forward to reading it. I enjoy the mind, body and spirit connection. I'll let you know once I have read it. Thanks for mentioning it in the first place.

ELEM-PGF, I got the book this weekend and began reading it. I am several chapters in and enjoying it very much. Are you re-reading it as well?

kind of embarrassing to say but i keep it in my bathroom and read it frequently, but only get a few pages at a time that way. i have got two different highlights going through it now. lets just say, thank god for gel pens!!! Can i ask what has struck you the most so far?

I have just made it up to the "air diet" which I found to have the light bulb effect for me. I take it to mean that total abstinence from anything would be very difficult if not impossible. Also that everything does not need to have immediate visable results. Her explanation of the long term effect of small changes was a point I needed. Also that God might feel about those of us who don't take care of our physical body to the best of our abilities as the parent feels about the child who doesn't take car of the things that the parent provides to the child. The example of the child who trashed the car that her parents had provided really struck home with me.

What points have given you insight?

for one thing i really like how she often emphasizes that this is a daily process of surrender, not a once and done event. i am horrible about the all or none thing, if i do one thing wrong it is over and there is no going back. there is also a quote she has from Oswald Chambers "we are in danger of forgetting that we can not do what God does and he will not do what we can!" She also focuses a lot on the idea of changing your mind. Something i really struggle with. i have such negative ideas planted very deep in my soul and that is something i am really trying to change!! I could go on for hours, there is so much i have highlighted and made note of in one place or another i couldnt list them all. i even took several and typed on strips of paper. i keep them in a box and pull out one and put in my car in a very visible place so that i can remind myself of it all throughout the day. this proves to be very effective for me since i am in the car a large part of my day. well gotta run, paperwork to do but i hope you continue to find inspiration and blessing as you read. i would love to discuss specifics as you go along. Have a good evening! Erin
