Did my walking for today
Thought I should let you all know that I have completed my walk for today.
Got up early this morning and went to the Rec Plex with hubby - was only able to do 1/2 mile but that was better than nothing. Then had breakfast - usual dry toast with peanut butter and a bottle of water. Then worked around house getting some school work ready for daughter. Lunch was chicken noodle soup, 1/2 cup applesauce and 1 cup lemonade (oops to much sugar in this making for the 110 calories :o ) Then at 2 pm took a 'break' and did my 1 mile walk away the pounds tape. Getting a bit easier - this is the 3rd day - but boy I still can feel the 'burn'. Walking goal for January: 31 miles As of January 3 miles walked: 3 1/2 27 1/2 more miles to go for this month :dizzy: Margie: we must have posted at the same time - I like your resolutions - they are doable right! And yes we do miss SunnyD momof5 - you made me chuckle with your post - just thinking of having 5 children - can't imagine how busy you must be. Gary - you asked about Koko - he hasn't gotten out on us since Christmas day - that was enough - but boy he is definetly hubby's dog. Was given to me for a birthday present but the dog has taken a 'love' to Norm. Norm can't leave the house at all without this wee little pup making the worst noise - talking to the moon - sounds like he wants to be a hound dog - and then makes all these funny noises - and usually won't quite until Norm comes back. When Norm goes to work Koko seems to understand he will be gone long so the noise only lasts for about 10 minutes but should Norm be just going downtown for something - well Norm has now been asked to please take the dog with him because the rest of the family are going crazy with the noise. And you can't say the word 'walk' as he seems to understand - loves to go and lay down in front of the living room door so he won't miss going out. He really is a funny little guy. Right now he is downstairs with Norm playing 'catch the hamburger' (his favorite toy) and boy do they make a noise. Well, have to get back and do a little bit more school with daughter. |

Good morning all!!
I am a page behind and short on time so will catch up this evening. I have to work today as it's sale day at the office and Mr. Bossman wants me there. I whined for about 45 minutes and am done now. I'll get tomorrow off and will get as much done THEN as I would TODAY...... WOW! Down 30 pounds Hilary! That calls for a dance! LOL! Doesn't it feel GOOD and doesn't it make the dicipline and hard work worth it?? Sure it does!! One day soon when I have time to play, I'll get me a tracker up and runnin'! I did one but couldn't get it posted so will go back and look at directions. Good jobs on GREAT starts for this year and having a clean slate to work with! I am doing well with the EATing routine. Three days down...woohoo. Yesterday was better portion-wise and that too will become a habit I'm sure. I'm thinking if I set out my little plates and bowls each night for the next days's meals, it may "trigger" my subconcious........when it comes time to eat. Work days are fairly easy as I take a one cup container of soup, a fruit etc. and I keep some canned goods at the office..applesauce, tuna and the like. Hey....i have a chart done up for an office work-out too! LOL! I'll use it today since I am "on duty"! Our two sale folks both promised to pay so hopefully they will dart in early and we won't have a sale after all. THAT would be good! DING* timer went off..must stop playing right now! Have a wonderful day everyone! I look forward to catching up with all of you tonight! Bren |
Wow!
This place is really hopping. I love it! Welcome to all the newcomers. This place has been a part of my life for so long now that I don't know how I would get along without it.
I don't usually make new year's resolutions but I have decided to exercise regularly and read my Bible daily. I've been back on track eating wise so hopefully I'll lose the rest of this weight. I have a doctor's appt. next week so we'll see what she thinks of my progress. We don't have nearly as much snow as we usually do SPROUT. In fact, we've been having above normal temperatures. It's never around 0C around here in January but it is now. We'll enjoy it as long as it lasts. I think Gary has outdone himself with the warmth he's been sending us. THANKS GARY! It's time to head for work now. Have a great day! |
Back at work
Got back to work and just as I suspected.........it was very busy yesterday. It is quiet, so far, this morning. We had to have my husband's truck towed to the shop from our house Monday night (AAA is worth having). Several hundred dollars in repair and maintenance. Whew. At least we had it. That is a rarity. Mike, a guy I work with, had to take his wife in for chest pains. They ran some tests. I haven't heard anything yet this morning. Hopefully it isn't heart related. Prayers.
To all the new folks (Keeping the Faith, Maria, Rollingstonez, Diane .....hope I didn't miss anyone) :welcome3: Wilma - Good idea with the Bible reading. I used to be in a Bible Study. I need to get back on track with my Bible reading. I notice that when I stop reading my Bible, things get a little off track and they're just different.:dizzy: Bren - I have a small stash at work too. I even brought 3 lb hand weights so I can work a few arm muscles (other than typing):D Hilary - Awesome job. Keep up the good work. 30 lbs. Wow girl. :woo: Marilyn - Keep up the good work with the walking. Koko sounds like he would be a great walking buddy too. Or maybe moreso in the spring. Lori - AMEN to that. But my kids went back one day early. They were suppose to go back today, but they had one more day to make up from the 3 days they lost (hurricane Rita). The house seems to be neater. I do however, have one home sick today. My "Mini Me" has been achy and has a low fever of 100.0. I am going home during lunch to check on her. She is almost 16 and very self sufficient, but she is still my baby. OK - I have something to say/ask. I was kinda embarrassed to do so, but...........the last 3 or so weeks my weight has bounced back and forth from 212 - 219. I don't know if it is what I am eating or the fact that I got off my BC pills. My doctor took me off my BC pills to see if it would help my blood pressure. (At the same time my GP doctor upped my blood pressure medicine) I have been on BC for about 8 years. But it seems that something is slightly out of whack. The nurse thinks that it will taper off once my body adjust. Any suggestions or comments. As everyone out there knows weight fluctuation like this can be a bit frustrating. Must go for now. |
Hi everyone! Just stopping by during my lunch break. It's been another busy morning at school but I like it that way. It makes the time go by faster. I can't believe I have only six more months working in this lab before I graduate! :carrot:
Looking forward to this evening because my husband and I are going to have some (rare) quiet time together. I'm going to look up a new recipe to try for dinner and hopefully make it special for us. Also, asking for prayers for my friend Michelle. She's having her second child probably TODAY! She went to the hospital this morning so they could induce labor. Keepingthefaith ~ :welcome2: This is a wonderful place to come for support. Pixiefalls ~ Congrats on the 30 pound loss! That's wonderful! :cp: Bren ~ Enjoy your day off tomorrow! And that summer-like weather! Wilma ~ I hope everything is going well with your New Year's goals! Reading the Bible daily is something I'm trying to get back into doing. Beth ~ I will definitely keep Mike's wife in my prayers. I hope everything turns out all right with her tests. Have a great day everyone! |
Marilyn! And everyone else!! Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. I don't know how often I can get here and post. I am part of another group and have been with them for around 4 years now and they get most of my attention!!! Although this place will be good for me as well.
I did have a good Bible study yesterday except for the fact that I found out there (a better place to find out I can't think of) that another member of my family has died. Marilyn, the name of the program that I use on my computer is called Diet Power. I purchesed it a few years ago. I find when I use it "faithfully" that it really helps me. Once again. Thanks for the warm welcome!! Diane |
Took my youngest son to see Narnia last night!!
What a wonderful movie!! God gave us a gift when he gave us C.S. Lewis!! And. I did really good on the food. Had a medium diet coke and a small popcorn with no butter!!!:carrot: If you have not seen this movie yet.. I think it is a must see!!!!!!!!

Busy here today ! !
:workout: So nice to see so many posts.
Is a beautiful day here today - sun is shinnng- and it is even rather mild. But I still prefer to be inside where it is warm and cosy. Got up this morning and went for my walk with hubby - did another 1/2 mile with him. So this makes it now 4 miles completed - and when I am finished posting here I will be doing my walk away the pounds tape so I will be up to 5 miles - getting ahead of the game here which is good. Because I use weight commander I weigh in daily - and it was so nice to see today it reading a lower number than it was on January 1. But not recording it officially as my official weigh in is on Monday - so hopefully it will be even more down. Have done some school work with daughter, she is having a break now, then we will both do the walking tape, then I will have my bowl of soup for lunch. Not sure about supper yet but think it will have something to do with chicken. Anyway after the walking tape, need to clean up the floors, do some computer work on getting more school papers ready for daughter, then supper, and between all of that I will be putting on my Scripture walking CD's from the First Place Bible studies and walk to a couple of the Scriptures - even if just for 10 - 15 minutes is helpful. Diane: I agree that was a good movie - mind you I wonder if someone was not a believer if they would 'get it' - but we sure enjoyed it. Post when and as often as you can crk - having an evening home with hubby - how nice. Priscilla - our youngest daughter will be 17 on Saturday - we adopted her when she was 2. She has Down Syndrome - so you can imagine how long it has been since we have just been 'the two of us' - actually I can't remember. If son was staying over night with friends we had Priscilla home. The 4 times she has spent at friends homes, Dom has been home - but seriously I don't mind as Priscilla is a joy to be with - a joy to parent and be around. If would find it really strange not to have someone here in the house with us. As Norm says, if I went to take a 'nap' and he came looking for me it wouldn't be long before Priscilla or Koko (the pup) would come looking for us - don't know how many times there have been all of us in our bedroom on the bed - gets quite funny actually with everyone wanting all the attention. Let us know what you cook for that nice dinner Beth - vehicle problems are a pain - been there done that. As for the chest pains, will pray. Been there done that also - Norm has taken me numerous times to the emergency because of chest pains - only to be told all is ok, must just be gas - now when the pains come don't know if it is gas or worse - but they have told me that it is better to come and have it checked out rather then waiting to see if it passes. Wilma - isn't it nice to have a mild winter - but then we could be suffering for it in the summer right? And where you are at we in Canada need you to have the proper amount of moisture because of all those wonderful crops that are grown there. Have a good day at work Blondee - it is amazing how many people find that on work days they can handle the food pretty well but it is on those days when we are not commited to working - hmm seems like a lot of us need to find a cure for that. Hilary - did I miss a post somewhere - 30 pounds? Good job girl :cheer: pixiefalls - boy you really had some time at that gym - feeling sore yet - are you now a member of this gym - sounds like it might be a good place to go. keepingthefaith - welcome - am sure you will find the group here very encouraging - post as often as you can - Looking forward to Monday when I can update my ticker as I am looking forward to having a weight loss. Updating my walk for today
Have just completed another 1 mile with the Walk Away the Pounds. So total now comes to 5 miles walked for January with 26 more miles to meet the goal for January.
Gary: Yes I sure do remember those days not to long ago when I could not walk 500 feet without having to sit down. Noticed today that it was much easier and am thinking that the 1/2 mile at the rec plex will soon be up to 3/4 or 1 mile well before the end of January. Lori - hope you enjoyed those candies even though they might not be the best choice for losing weight. If you are like me and have a 'sweet' tooth it is a hard thing to turn away from. I am fortunate that I have now gone 4 days without a 'sweet' - no chocolate at all - and am feeling good about it - thought I would have the headaches but haven't as I am still getting a bit of sugar in the lemonade drink I have but I am reducing that also. Pounds to lose by April 30: 30 Miles walked as of January 4: 5 :carrot: |
Update on my walk for today
Have just completed the Walk Away the Pounds tape for today so my total miles walked for January now reads 5 miles with 26 more miles to go to hit my goal for the month :carrot:
Gary - I sure do remember when I first started walking - when I couldn't get 500 feet without having to sit down because of pain and labored breathing. Just frustrating that I had gotten up to 3 miles in 45 minutes and now I am back to just 1 mile in 15 minutes. But the Lord is good and He is helping me recover from the lack of walking and I am hopeful that by the end of January that I will be doing much better. I go for my annual cancer checkup in April - will be 3 years then that I have been clear - so it would be nice to have a substantial amount of weight off - looking at 30 pounds by then. Being sick like that sure takes the toll on a person. Well, daughter is about to go out with her friend (support worker) so should run and make sure she is ready. Then tonight we are going to go to a movie 'Rumors have it' I believe it is called. Miles walked by January 4: 5 :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: |
