Hello Everyone!

Just doing a quick post. I am going home, not feeling well at all today. :(

Azulfire - I am starting off with the Flex plan. I was going to start with the Core plan but didnt think I was ready to limit certain foods. I am doing well on the Flex plan though and I am thinking about trying the Core plan in a few weeks. How is it working for you?

SunnyD - Sorry to hear your DH is sick. I am praying that he feels better. Snow? O my goodness!! I couldnt even imagine having snow this time of year. It was actually 81 degrees here on Friday. So nice. Now it is back down to the 60's and 70's. We did get some rain on Sat. But we are supposed to have really nice weather this weekend. The sun is out now, but all I want to do is go home and get into my bed.

Sami - What beautiful grandson. Chayse, what a great name and I love the spelling. I love when names are spelled differently than expected. I named my daughter Xea (pronounced Zaya with the long A sound in the middle). Prayers for your daughter. I had an emergency C-Section with my first one and it was quite tramatic as well. Not to mention the "baby blues" I had afterwards with having to take care of a newborn and try to deal with the pain from healing. My mom did the same thing that you are doing for your daughter. She actually took a month off from work and came and took care of me and my son while my husband was at work. She worked miracles! What a blessing you are to your daughter and grandson. Just looking at his sweet face makes me want another one...... okay that moment has passed!

Sprout - Cancer Free!!!!! Praise HIM!! While I was reading your story my eyes started swelling up with tears as I was afraid that it was not so good news at the end of your post, but then you said CANCER FREE!!! AMEN!! God is good and I will pray that you will continue to be cancer free for the rest of your life!!

MrsSmiley - I am sorry to hear about your uncle. My prayers for you and your family.

Well, gotta go, off to the house. I will check in soon. Myisha

cbaumgardner 04-25-2005 03:31 PM

Good Afternoon my prayers go out for everyone and there special needs.
A toddler I take care of at church is having testing done for MD however they have ruled out Dushanes (which is what they had thought it was) please pray for his healing.
I am still on a stall but know I will break it soon. I have faith.
I have 3 more weeks to try to lose 25 lbs. Yikes!
Does any one have tips for water retetion?

SunnyD57 04-25-2005 03:45 PM

I will be back tomorrow and then I will post to each of you then :crossed: Joe & I are trying to clean up the yard from all the damage today. We are both well, just busy with clean up ;)

mkay 04-25-2005 04:41 PM

Sami: CONGRATULATIONS! Beautiful looking baby!

Sherry: Sorry about your uncle. I will keep him in my prayers.

lateralus: What a weekend...and your sister who's screaming. It sounds quite hectic there.

Sprout: Awesome that you are cancer free and Amen and Amen...all the glory goes to our Father.

Sunny: You sure did get some snow by the looks of those pics. Yikes.

Azulfire: Yea! Another pound...good for you. Keep up the excellent hard work!

EZ: A group from the Sacramento area came to our church. They are a prophetic/healing school. Very cool.

momof10: Way cool to lose! I WI on Thursday p.m.

APhatGorditaInWPB: What a beautiful prayer you wrote for MrsSmiley.

mnewton: Hope you're feeling better soon. Cold?

Michele: Wilma is right, there IS someone out there for you who will and He does know who's the best for you sweets.

Wilma: Sorry about your son's break up. Prayers for his comfort. Sounds like a wonderfully peaceful weekend with hubby. Great!

I went to our women's retreat from our church on Friday night and Saturday until mid afternoon. Then the 5 of us in the van went shopping. We were in Ludington, MI up north from where I live. I love it up there.

Got prayed for from a group that came to our church this weekend and will be in GR for the week. They are from CA. My body feels better today! Yeah!

Not a real busy weekend. DH and I just vegged after service yesterday. Played a little dominoes, watched some TV and I did my First Place bible study...I had some catching up to do.

DH goes to the Dr. tomorrow a.m. to get foot looked at and to find out his next stage of its recovery. I'm hoping he will be able to put a bit of weight on it. The crutches are starting to look like a part of his body especially when I say him turn out the kitchen light with one of them yesterday.

I have to adjust my tracker to my -2 lbs this past WI. Yeah to me!

Well, gotta go so I can take the time to do that tracker thing.

Hugs,

lateralus98 04-25-2005 05:30 PM

Hey everyone! It's so hard to keep up with all the names/posts :dizzy:

I have good news! I did a WI today, and I lost 2 pounds! I now officially weigh 173! Woo hoo! My mini-goal is to weigh 165 by May 25th. (That's when I go on my vacation to Hong Kong and Beijing!!!) Wish me luck!

Sorry this is so haphazard, just wanted to check in! You all are in my prayers!

Mitchypoo 04-25-2005 06:25 PM

Woo hoo  to all you losers!!! Keep up the good work.

Wow, what a vacation, lateralus98! I've always wanted to go to Hong Kong. Have you been before?

lateralus98 04-25-2005 06:34 PM

Nope, never been to Hong Kong. This will be my first vacation outside of the US!

lateralus98 04-26-2005 04:07 AM

Wow HUGE case of insomnia over here! Can't sleep a wink! I wish I could, my eyes hurt. I'm going to go try AGAIN to catch some MUCH NEEDED Zzzzz's

wilma12 04-26-2005 09:09 AM

Good Morning!

It's still gloomy here and really windy. At least we don't have what Sunny got! We got that last year on May 13th. Hopefully that doesn't happen this year.

Sunny: We have a cedar that looked just like yours does now and it came back and is standing straight and tall. As long as nothing has snapped on it it should come back. At least this snow won't last long.

Gary: I didn't make him shop for very long. I spent only $28.00. Pretty good, eh? I was looking for a dress to wear to the wedding but didn't find anything I liked. We did go see a chick flick and were a bit disappointed with it. "A LOT LIKE LOVE" We thought it was going to be us and a bunch of teenage girls but then a few other couples came in too. We thought with Ashton Kutcher in the movie it would be funnier than it was.

Lateralus: WTG on the 2 lbs. gone. I think they came here after my weekend away!!

Azulfire: Another lb. gone forever. Keep up the great work. I know what you mean about the weight coming off slowly. At least it'll stay off this way.

Time to leave for work again. Have a great day!

cbaumgardner 04-26-2005 09:42 AM

YIPPEEEE I lost 1 LB

 Well I think the stall is broken........... LOL :cb:
:bravo: Azulfire and lateralus congrats on the loss. Sunny the snow is so pretty but such a pain.... hope you are back up and going soon ;)

Hope everyone has a great day

water.............water.................water

My goal is to lose down to 170 by May 17th.

Margie B. 04-26-2005 11:42 AM

Terrific Tuesday to all, - still trying to catch up, - so many posts & lovin' it. Not much for me to report, did take my DD & friend to Hibachi steakhouse last night, it was VERY good as always, one of our favorite places.

Azulfire - Welcome, don't remember if I had welcomed you before, but hope you do feel welcome here. As you can tell this is a very busy thread. :D Keep up your walking, 10,000 steps is my goal whenever I can remember to put on the pedometer (or get batteries for it!). :o Congrats on the 10# weight loss since the end of January too, that's great. That's 10# you aren't carrying around anymore, - keep it up!

Mitchypoo - sorry to hear about Eric, - I guess we all kiss a lot of frogs before we find a prince. :barf: (FYI, I do tend to 'collect' frogs also, teasing that one of them may actually be 'my prince charming') Best to find out now though before more heartstrings are attached! Glad to hear you're pumping the water and back on track with eating right!

SAMI - Congrats on the beautiful grandson, love baby pics when their eyes are open, seems rare when they're that little. He's adorable. :smug: Looking forward to getting to know you as you are able to get back and post more with us.

EZ - Way to go Amanda with those good tennis matches! :) I'm sure you're sorry to hear that tennis is just about over for the season. When is her last game? I know ours is already over until the fall league starts back up. I am going to try to set a few practices before school is out for the 'new' team at the high school. I had 5 sign up, - yippee! Hopefully they'll all stick with it!

SunnyD - WOW you guys had a LOT of snow. :^: Hope it's all gone by now. We were about 70 yesterday and very sunny. Today it's 60 and VERY windy, going to try to walk at lunch today but I may end up getting blown down the street! Post whenever you get caught up and get a chance to get back on-line.

All for now gang, will try to get caught up later today, time for my walk. . . - Margie

mkay 04-26-2005 12:02 PM

Almost Noon

Hi Everyone!

Congrats to all those losers out there. I'm hoping to be down at least 1 pound this week, but who knows.

laterus...WOW what a trip to take. Lots of air time. Now...go get some sleep.

Wilma...how's it goin with the gal at work?

It's only supposed to be in the 50s today (I think) :?: and it's cloudy. That's ok, I'm still wearing sweaters inside at work. I probably won't thaw until July then I freeze up again in September.

Well, I actually went through a tad of stress without stress eating today. I would still like to but I'm not...so far. Amen!

Well, I'm going to go eat my little sandwich for lunch and my SF/FF jello.

Bye All!

Mitchypoo 04-26-2005 12:46 PM

Well, the toad called. :) He left me a message yesterday and again he was in the hospital and not able to call. He just got out and apologized and wanted to explain what happened. I called him back and he actually answered but we didn't go into the whole thing b/c of time, and he wanted to explain it to me. So i think he's sincere and i'm hoping we can get back on track. Today is his birthday. I'm hoping to talk to him soon and get this figured out.

teel 04-26-2005 12:54 PM

Wow Sunny! Thats some snow fall you had!!! Take it easy as you travel around in it and on it!!
Mitchypoo you snuck in a post whilst I blinked! Glad "ye olde toad" called offering some sort of a conversation. Hope whatever is meant to happen, does, with the will of The Lord.

Hellos to everyone else...be careful out there!!

cbaumgardner 04-26-2005 12:57 PM

Is any one up for giving me some advice ?

EZMONEY 04-26-2005 02:03 PM

SURE CHRISTY!.....always take a sweater, just in case.

Margie B. 04-26-2005 02:03 PM

Christy . . .

What's up CHRISTY? Is it about the water retention or something else? -Margie

mkay 04-26-2005 02:08 PM

Let it out Christy...

cbaumgardner 04-26-2005 02:22 PM

Ok here it goes... I go to my mothers at lunch (she lays guilt trip on me if I don't) I have told her I am trying to lose weight (which she has been on my back about) and have explained what I am doing and that I can NOT have flour, sugar or starches and I have even given her a list of what I can eat. She continues to sabbatoge me. Today I went and thought hum this is ok Brocolli and Cheese and a pork chop ......... after I had eaten she asked how did you like the cheese sauce. I made it like gravy with flour and then added cheese. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I did not say anything because she would have gotten her feelings hurt. I was ready to cry after finally getting 1 lb off. I have been so careful ...... I know she rolls all meat in flour etc, The old home cooking southern way. any way how can I tell her that she is doing this to me?

EZMONEY 04-26-2005 02:27 PM

Tuesday

HI LADIES

A few minutes here before I head to my daughter's tennis match.

Things going well here...starting a job in HollyWEIRED in the morning...we need to leave around 4:30 am and HOPE   there won't be a lot of traffic! Either way, it will be late when I get back home for a week or so.

Not sure if I mentioned it last week, but my son called me when I was in Ojai watching his sister and said that he received a "personal" call to interview before a panel for history teachers. He was observed the week before and the lady told him to get his resume finished...she was going to call a few people and recommend him for possible positions, she said she usually doesn't do that. He may have a tough time getting a teaching job in our area...First, there are not a lot of social science classes at the high school to begin with, second, we live in a "desireable" area so competition is high for each position...the asst. principal at the school he is student teaching now, told him last week that he interviewed 12 people for one position that day and that 6 of them flew in from other states. Of course he knows he picked the toughest entry position...he has been told many times to teach math..he just doesn't want to...unless he has to. Don't blame him either. Prayers for his interview on friday please.

MARGIEB Amanda has a match today against Air Force, then next week she has her regionals, then next month the nationals in Alabamba...then she will be finished for her career! Our high school girls play in the fall, the boys are playing now with a couple more weeks left....college runs pretty much year round with practice and tournaments...at least here anyway...Amanda has always been at nationals when the year is over...always has to test out early. As long as you keep it fun...kids will come...good luck with the new team. My daughter's high school coach e-mailed her last week and asked her to coach his boys and girls JV teams next year if she can...we'll see, she would like to but it doesn't pay too much...I'm thinkin' that after 4 years of college she needs to go to WORK  ;)

MICHELE Good news (?) with Eric, I hope....be careful.

MKAY Stop stressing!! Glad your week-end went well!

SUNNY WOW!!! Living here in southern California I have never seen any thing like that...WHEW!! Have fun digging out!...if it takes too long you will miss the entire spring!!

WILMA Sorry the movie wasn't good...I am a chick flick guy! I think Ashton is very talented...but in the right setting. Good job on the $$$ for shopping!

Well off to tennis

HI to ALL OF YOU!!!

EZMONEY 04-26-2005 02:30 PM

CHRISTY...As they say...IF IT'S NOT ONE THING, IT'S YOUR MOTHER!

TELL HER POINT BLANK..POLITELY...TO HER FACE WHAT YOU WILL AND WILL NOT TOLERATE...IF SHE DOESN'T LIKE IT...TOO BAD... YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF YOU...SO THAT YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY...IF SHE DOESN'T WANT TO UPLIFT YOU...WELL, SHE HAS TO GO...SORRY...BUT YOU JUST CAN'T SUGAR COAT IT.

PRAYERS, GARY

cbaumgardner 04-26-2005 02:44 PM

Thanks Gary! I know that she watches the news or parts of it and believes everything she hears. I have been told by Drs. to watch what I eat Diebetes runs in my family and I have been told I am hypoglosimic (SP?). I really want to take care of myself for a change.

Margie B. 04-26-2005 02:50 PM

Advice

Hey Christy, first of all, remember 'she's your mother'. Whatever you say to her, say gently and with love. :D I do think you could maybe 'remind' her but don't keep at it as it will probably make her resentful that somehow her cooking isn't 'good enough'.

You might want to offer to fix lunch, or help prepare it so you know what's in it. Going out might be another suggestion as you can order off the menu what's right for you. Hope you can keep a clear head and get this figured out. It's way-y-y-y too hard to lose to have someone, even unintentionally, :o sabotage your efforts. Good Luck :smug: -Margie

cbaumgardner 04-26-2005 02:58 PM

Thanks Margie I appreciate your help.

EZMONEY 04-26-2005 03:00 PM

aawww--Margie, you are a lot nicer than me!!

Good points Christy...maybe you can tell her the drs. have you on a special diet for the potential diabetes, you'd love to have lunch with her...but you will bring your own.

Margie is right, you don't want to lose someone...however, as much as my ex and I are buddies...she goes out of her way to "guilt trip" my daughter...my son just ignores her...my daughter can't...have held her through many a tear!

Now I really have to go...........

mnewton 04-26-2005 05:23 PM

Christy - Margie is right. You dont want to hurt your mothers feelings. You know it is a mother's heart to nurture her children and alot of times that comes through food. She loves you and I am sure is not intentionally trying to sabatoge your healthy eating efforts. So the suggestions that Margie has given you are really good. And you can also just let her know that you know her heart is not to keep you from losing weight and you love the special lunches with her, but that you cannot eat those kinds of things. So would she mind preparing some things differently and if she does then you would be happy to bring your own lunch because the food is not important, it is spending that quality time with her.

~Myisha

mnewton 04-26-2005 07:13 PM

Hello!!

Feeling much better today. I went home fed the kids and then got into the bed around 7:30pm. It was wonderful!! I must have really needed the sleep because I woke up feeling 100% better.

Donna - I cant believe all of the snow you got over there!! Oh my goodness, I have never seen so much snow!! Your poor trees!! Well I guess that just gives you and hubby a little more snuggle time!

Azulfire - yes, I am from Washington State. I live in Kent, WA and work in Seattle, WA. Kent is just between Renton and Federal Way. I also did the Prism diet about a year ago with a group in my church and I just wasnt able to give up all that stuff! So this way works better for me because I can still have what I want I just have to keep track and not go over my daily allowance of points. It has been going good so far, the real test will be when I weigh in on Sat.

mkay - I am feeling so much better. Yes, I had a cold and it was horrible. But I feel great now!

Well, I am getting off work so I gotta go!!

Myisha

davoswoman 04-26-2005 08:25 PM

Hi,
I'm Candy. I am doing WW at home and thinking about joining TOPS for meetings and weigh ins.
I am searching for a group to join on here and saw you all.

I had a gastric bypass in January 2001 and lost down to around 210 from 499. I am not struggling to stay under 230!! I really want to get down under 200. I have to watch what I eat and not snack all the time!!

Myisha, you and I are almost exactly the same on the ticker!!!

lateralus98 04-26-2005 08:49 PM

Welcome to the group, davoswoman! You'll find a great group of very supportive women here, from a variety of ages. Good luck with your weight loss journey, and we hope to see you around here often!! :D

Jackay 04-27-2005 06:09 AM

I'm so sorry I have not been around much. My job has been horrid (working thru lunches too). Will make this all up to you all in May. It's gonna be busy here probably until I go to Florida the 2nd week of May for a week of much needed vacation. But I do want to thank each of you for your inspiration. This is the first time in my life that I have not "ate my way thru" a busy crunch period at work. Normally I would grab anything and everything and eat it, thinking it would provide me with some sort of fake energy. Well that is all it was apparently. I am sticking with my new way of eating, and even with minor cheating, have managed to reach one mini goal already (20 lbs). So thank you all for believing in me and for just being here and posting your stories.

mrsSmiley 04-27-2005 06:24 AM

Wednesday morning

Good Morning CEers!!!!

Just have a minute to check in. Buster (uncle) is still with us. He has been comatose since Sunday and his respirations are very shallow and few between. His daughter made it in from Wyoming and by this time his granddaughter from Denver should be here. She and her husband were on there way last night.
I have so very worn out. I have been working 12 hour days, running up there every free moment and had softball practice Monday night and then an out of town softball game last night.

:cheer: :cb: WE WON 9-4!!!!! :cheer: :flow1: :cp:

I have lots of edema (swelling) on my body and haven't been where I could take lasix to get it off. I'm up 4 lbs on the scale and I know it's all fluid. I have been eating on plan and drinking my water but putting in too much time on my feet. Yesterday, I got 6.97 miles in altogether. And I know my pedometer is accurate because I check it with the treadmill every so often. Anyway, got another long day today working but then I'm off tomorrow. I have to take my Lasix and rest some but also I'm sure if nothing happens I will be with the family and Buster.

WELCOME CANDY!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to all the LOSERS!!!

:yikes: Sunny, what's that white stuff???
We are having 80 degree days, I'll send you some of those temps!

Hope everyone has a GREAT day! Sorry, gotta go, get ready for work.

cbaumgardner 04-27-2005 08:24 AM

I LOST 2 lbs.

:dizzy: Well, I thank all of you for your support and advice yesterday. I was very careful with what I ate the rest of the day yesterday. I have not discused my WOE with my mother, I will pick the right time. However I am so excited I lost 2lbs despite all my complaining. :cb:

Welcome Candy this is a wonderful group.

wilma12 04-27-2005 08:56 AM

Good Morning!

I woke up this morning to a dusting of snow on the ground. (Not at all what Sunny got) After a couple of weeks of incredible weather it's a little hard to take these cold temps. We're hardy folk though and we can take it. At least this time of year it doesn't stay around long.

I've been doing really well with my WOE but not so good with the exercise. I know I need to do something different because I'm kind of bored with my tapes.

My kitchen is finally finished. All that's left is for DH to replace the handles. I love the result and will show you pics as soon as I have them.

I wish I had time to address everyone today but I have to get going. You are all in my prayers.

Have a great day!

mkay 04-27-2005 10:24 AM

Advice

Margie is right. You dont want to hurt your mothers feelings BUT...people, even mothers will use guilt to get what they want (they usually don't know they are doing it) BUT...we/you/I make the "choice" as to how we are going to respond/react. "IF" you see that what she is cooking is unhealthy, only eat small portions and thank her for the delicious meal OR remind her about healthy cooking and how your lifestyle has changed. She probably won't change her ways...but YOU have boundaries and have the final say as to what goes in the body. If she tries the guilt trip again..."choose" to ignore it, smile and go about YOUR way of living, because if you say anything, it allows the other person to respond/react as well, and that may not be as good.

cbaumgardner 04-27-2005 11:12 AM

Thanks Mkay for now I am just going keep quite. I wanted someone to say what I was thinking. More times than not I open my mouth before I think. I am getting better.
