Hi!

I thought I would post the site that give all the info on the DASH eating plan.

http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/hbp/dash/

I found it an easy plan to follow and found it very informative as to how to read labels and know what the salt content of some foods are. I was amazed to see how much there is in processed foods. I haven't eaten anything processed for a month and I think that made the difference for me. I thank God that it did!

Sherry: Thanks for the prayers. I think we all need them for the struggles we have in our lives.

Lateralus: Welcome to you! I want you to know that you are in my prayers. It's tough to go through a struggle but one thing we have is HOPE. It's a wonderful thing to know that when we get through this struggle that there's better things waiting. God loves you and wants HIS very best for you.

Have a good night!

Hey I'm on-line at home

After a couple hours of frustration with technology and still a couple of 'bugs' in it but I'm on-line for now. . .

Sunny D- Did my walk at lunch, encircled an extra block and then made it to the park tonite while my DD is at the movies with friends. I actually made "3" laps, - I've never done 3 laps before but it felt really good. So my total for April tonight is 26.15 miles!!! I doubt that I'll get any in tomorrow as I have to work dispatch and not even a break for my lunch walk. . .

Wilma - Congrats on your well-being and NO MEDS! That's great news PTL! It does pay to 'keep looking up'.

Teel - Continued prayers dear, things will get better just trust in the Lord. Keep us posted please.

Mitchypoo - What about Eric? I hope you give him a chance, after all he was in the hopital for a few days. Maybe his health will be on the mends and soon thereafter so will the relationship. You also keep us posted, our prayers are with you for a clear mind and our support.

Better sign off while I still have my mind. . . I'm not used to typing on a laptop, the keyboard feels so different and there are still these bugs I have to work out. . . blessed evening to all - Margie

Smiley....you really said what I needed to hear too.

I took a walk tonight and listened to the motivational CD that came with the First Place diet stuff and it said that happiness is the thermometer and joy is the actual temperature. Happiness is the feeling but joy is spiritual. I will have to listen to it again to get actual wording.

The DASH diet I really don't know anything about, I just typed what I found. It's more for hight blood pressure than weight loss I suspect.

Just inventoried jewelry bead stock so I'm ready to create my brains out. That's tomorrow! Too late tonight.

I'm enjoying my Mary Time aka mary maintenance.

I will be up early tomorrow so I don't waste a minute of my precious weekend. I love my time away from work and at home.

Jenny's (DD) wedding date is June 2, 2006. She may move back here in October. Hmmmmm...I really like my empty nest!

I would be thrilled to have her too. Rachel came back home 6 months before her wedding and I know God had plans for those 6 months and I believe I, her and SIL got close and shared God more than ever.

Next...

Later All!

Saturday's Dieter's Devotional

Dieter's Devotional is found at www.crosswalk.com

April 16

James 1:3
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

When you get really serious about losing weight, you have no
alternative but to develop patience. There are no safe, quick ways to lose a lot
of weight. It takes time. The body takes a long time to build up, and
it takes a long time to wear down. However, the person who sticks with
her diet will be amazed to find that the longer it's adhered to, the
easier it gets. A time comes when the diet is no big deal. In many cases,
people find they prefer their diet to their former way of eating.
Patience is an elusive trait, but once it is attained, it is its own reward.

Today's thought: Patience would be a lot easier if it didn't take so
long to get.

Saturday morning

Good Morning CEers!!!

How is everyone this morning? I'm up and at em early cause I have to see patients plus our town is having city wide (actually county wide) garage sales in this small little county. People will be coming out of the woodwork.

Anyway, I have a very busy day. Have to see patients, garage sales, and then the girls and I have to go to Abilene so that I can weigh in, get groceries and we have to look at material for Kelli's dress. Hobby Lobby has a great sale on fabric, so wish us luck. It will be a really long day! According to my scales I have lost and that is what I'm going by on my tracker only because I started on my scales and there's weighs lighter. :dz:

MKay
You sound like quite the jewelry creator. What all types do you make? I used to do crafts all the time and absolutely love it, but now I don't seem to have much time anymore. What is Mary maintenance? Yeah, let me know more about the motivational CD.

Margie
Sounds like you are doing a fabulous job on your walking!!! I walked only 3/4 mile yesterday on the treadmill :tread: but altogether got 2.54 miles in myself. Since I have such bad knees and ankles, I try to get a good start in the AM with the treadmill and then walk as much as I can as the day progresses. Some days I have more time than others.

Wilma
Thanks for the info on the DASH diet. I will suggest it with some of our docs and maybe use it on some of our patients to help them out. ;) Yes, we all need those prayers, so please keep them coming. Yesterday, I guess the Lord inspired me to write that post. I just couldn't stop typing.

Gary
Hope this finds you doing well and the wedding going off without a hitch. I have never understood what that phrase actually meant. Does it mean "without a hitch" that you don't get married? or does it mean without anything bad happening?? Well, at any rate hope it's a GREAT day and that the wedding goes well. Look forward to hearing from you again soon.

:sunny:Sunny:sunny:
Good Morning! Hope your walk goes well. No competing here about time, color, etc... I was just kidding about you "beating" me posting. :D I guess I should have said you were up early and at em. Have a great day with Joe.;)

lateralus
Hope this finds you feeling much better today. This is a fresh new day and the slate is clean. You have the option to do with this day anything you want. Start fresh and clean, following your on plan eating and walk hand in hand with God. The rest is up to you.;) Have a good one!!!

Michele
Hope you have a fantastic day!!! I'm sure you will be working, but please check in when you can. We love to hear from you.;) Hope Eric is feeling better and ya'll are able to talk and work on things.

Hope EVERYONE has a GREAT WEEKEND!!!!

Today God is First

Here is a another devotional from www.crosswalk.com

The Graduate - Level Test - Self-defense
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Psalm 37:6

As a believer grows in trusting obedience and love, God often brings a test that seems uncharacteristically cruel. The test: being wrongfully judged by those close to you. It is not for the reactionary. It cannot be passed over by simply gutting it out. Supernatural grace is the only means of passing this one. It is one of those tests the Savior had to experience Himself when being tried by the court of public opinion, the religious community, and the government of His day. His response to the government was silence. His response to the religious establishment was silence at the final judgment. To the rest of His accusers He remained quiet and left vindication to the Father. He lived the commandment He gave to the disciples:

"But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked" (Luke 6:35).

How do you react when you are accused or mistreated for no reason? Do you listen quietly, or do you justify each and every action? Most of us take pride in doing what is right and expect the same from others, especially our brothers and sisters in the faith. Jesus knew that if you were to be a true follower of His, you would enter this test eventually. It is part of the program. The workplace gives ample opportunity to be wronged, misunderstood, and maligned. When God brings a measured assault against one of His children, it is to find out if he truly believes in the cross. The cross is where each of us is given the opportunity to die to our pride, our reputations, and our ego. When He allows a measured assault upon us, it is to find out if the cross is sufficient. He wants to see if we will seek to rescue ourselves. Jesus said if we die with Him, we will be raised with Him. When God allows satan to bring the measured assault, ask God for the grace to cling to the cross. Let the pride and arrogance that Jesus wants to remove from our lives be crucified. Thank God for the opportunity to be crucified with Christ. Then your righteousness will shine like the noonday sun and the justice of your cause will be in His hands.

Just gotta keep going

So, how's your patience levels???:(
Yesterday was heavy on the stress and, sorry to say, heavy on the eating.
I sure wish the two didn't so often go hand in hand for me.
The day started off just fine. I had a yummy advocare protein shake and
was ready to take some great advice and stick with the whole foods as well as keeping it simple and then I got a call from the realtor (we are trying to sell our home) they wanted to show our house at noon. I put the kids onto their usual chores to get things picked up but my 15 year old son just didn't want to cooperate. He's not a terrible kid or anything just typically lazy.
So, I began to stress cause things weren't getting done, I had to fuss with my teen and I still had a few day care kids to watch over. I did fine with the eating until everything calmed down and the realtor had left. Then I ate:?: (and ate....)
Go figure????
I did finally calm down and my son apologized to me but the eating didn't stop.
On a positive note, my DD And I went to the Taste of Home Cooking school and enjoyed a nice time. Afterward we were starved and stopped into Mickey D's for a meal.
If that wasn't bad enough, after I got home and got ready for bed my 4 year old woke up with an awful earache and I was up with him until 3 AM.
My DH Woke up at 3:00 for the next shift and, of course, we had to have a bowl of cereal together. UGH!
I'm bushed. Sorry to say today isn't going much better.
I have to admit I am wondering why I am even posting here cause I'm obviously not on the right track. Yet, your success and encouragement of one another is giving me hope.
Thanks for letting me vent folks. I really do want to get victory over this out of control drive. Hope you'll stay patient with me.:o

Sunday's Dieter's Devotional

This is the Dieter's Devotional from
www.crosswalk.com

April 17

Philippians 3:20
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the
Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.

After Michelle promised Susan she would diet with her, she im-mediately
began to regret it. All Susan did was talk about food. Susan had a
one-track mind, and she made dieting so much harder for Michelle. Michelle
constantly tried to change the direction of their conversations, but
Susan always managed to bring the topic back to food. Finally, Michelle
told Susan that if she didn't stop, she would no longer be able to be a
diet partner with her. The two worked together and found that with some
effort, they could steer clear of caloric conversation.

Today's thought: Lord, turn my mind away from the pleasures of my
tummy!
