We are fun as all get out! We don't care what denomination you are...we are all God's kids and He's our Daddy! Amen!

EZ...You had a very good point saying the part about people KNOWING you are pleasing and they withhold appreciation. THAT'S IT!!!! It's now going to be my agenda for a bit. Less is more...not at my expense tho. ;) I can certainly relate to your friend. I've been telling Michele that I MUST look to God to fill those voids...please relay that to your friend. God fills mine with things as simple as a gentle breeze, a great song on the radio, my warm blankey is warmer and softer than usual, etc. Thanks for your words.

Sunny...Wow you are doing great walking. I'm surprised you didn't freeze in one spot this morning. It was cooooooold outside. Yipee for Joe's job! Mine's still in FY06...Amen! Actually my position (doesn't mean me per say) made it through 75% dept cuts if necessary. We didn't have to cut that deep this time so I am thankful. Now if I could only be that happy in the a.m. when I struggle to get here.

Jackay...Ouch on losing Mom. We've not had a loss in my immediate fam yet. Praise God!

Michele...Hang in there my sweet...start taking care of Michele (Yarn Cafe is a wonderful start).

Lateralus98...those meds sound awful. Get some rest!

Smiley...thanks for devotion! Yes, I am feeling better...no more cold and not even a sinus infection.

Mitchypoo - Thanks for making me laugh, - I don't stay upset very long, hardly ever get mad and usually have a lot of patience (which sometimes gets me walked all over!) :s: But things are good and I'm going out for my lunch walk now, so I can at least try to keep up with SunnyD! :D

Lateralus~Sitting goals in 10 lb increments is definitely the best way to lose it. If I looked at the whole 150 lbs I need to lose I would definitely get overwhelmed. So, I celebrate every 10 lbs gone forever. ;) Sounds like you have some GREAT GOALS for yourself, working with the children. Girl, you better get you some food! You can't lose weight if you don't eat. :no:

Jackay~Congratulations on the SIXTEEN lbs DOWN!!! Sorry to hear about losing your mom and your dad's failing health. Yes, it can definitely be a wake up call. I too have lost both my parents one to heart attack and the other one to stroke and heart attack. I've been overweight ever since I can remember and been on I think every diet know to man and even some that I made up. I have a lot of health problems that would be improved or gone when I lose the weight. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. If you know what I mean. The first of March I started watching what I ate and lost FIVE lbs, then joined LA weight loss center and as of last week have lost 7.4lbs more. I am late for my WI this week but know I have lost a little more. We both have a LOT to lose but WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!!! The boys are precious!!! I bet they are cutters together. :D

I KNOW that I could never keep up with you :faint: God does bless you with the energy you need to keep on going. I bet you have no problems what-so-ever sleeping at night! Hello again Sherry, I love the colors you have been posting... you had me on a *Google* search this morning --- as you can see, I found the font color chart... very clever of you :smug: ;) I was running out of colors for this group - being it's gotten so large - now I have plenty to choose from :D

I am glad to see that you are able to post the Daily Devotionals... it is a huge benefit to this thread. They DO fit!

So are you enjoying your time off today? I have the bed stripped and blankets in the washer and have been doing a bit of Spring cleaning everyday. Did blinds today and furniture, washed floors and have to get the bathrooms scrubbed yet.

What a mess! I was washing strawberries when I thought... I will let them soak a bit in the cold water and write a post... well, I heard an odd noise and went to investigate --- Zeppe was in the sink fishing for strawberries!!! :nono: Everytime his paw got wet he would shake it and then he had strawberries all over my clean floor!! I swear they get into more then kids!!! And they never grow up!! To boot --- now there is water all over the counters, the floor, wall & window ~~~> NEVERMIND the TRAIL he left behind!! :tired: Not to mention he was sitting on my *just put on* clean sheets!!! :dz: gotta love 'em :dizzy: :lol: I wish I thought to get a picture before I began to clean it all up... :rofl:


Awe Margie B, I too know that feeling of frustration with losing my post!! It happened to me one too many times!! That's when I began opening up my E-Mail (I have IncrediMail) and writing in there. Now what I do is bring up the threads, I then go off-line and write in my e-mail as if I were going to send it off. Then after I do a spell check, I Rt-Click on the post, click Select All (highlighting the whole page); then Rt-click again on the highlighted post and click Copy. I then go on-line; bring up 3fc's again... click on Post Reply, and paste my post in... viola. It seems like allot when you read this, but it's all very simple. Then if I lose the post to 3fc's I still have it all in my e-mail to copy and paste again :D Hope you followed me okay. I suppose you can do it from your notebook too... doesn't matter really - just as long as you have a copy.

Hello MKay, I felt like I could have frozen into one spot!! It was COLD! I thought it was 33*, but I just heard on the noon news that it was 30* this morning... chilllllly. But is has warmed up beautifully --- sunny and around 55*

Thanks about Joe... I am so glad to hear that you are okay with your job too --- scary, you know. I hope you are having a great day at work today, well, if that's possible :rolleyes: I know my hubby loves his job... and that makes a big difference.

Good Afternoon CEers!!:wave:

I'm taking a short break ::comp: before I have to go pickup Kaci from school and run a few errands. Well, I got part of what I needed to do done. The poor washing machine has it's tongue hanging out from running so much today. Yeah, Sunny got to get those bed clothes washed too. ;) I went ahead and changed my weight tracker today since I have lost more but haven't got to go weigh in yet. Will probably go tomorrow and get a few things while I'm there.


Sunny~:sunny: I love the colors too. I'm just not one for being plain. Even as big as I am, I love to wear those BRIGHT COLORS!!! It seems to brighten my mood. :?: Your story about the cats is funny!! :lol: Sounds like half of what goes on around here. We just have a cat, a dog and a cockatiel in the house now. We used to have two cats but one got booted outside when she was screaming one night. :yikes: Now she really has a reason to scream with all those tomcats chasing her. :lol: We live out in the country so I don't worry about her getting pregnant. We could use a few more mousers and rattlesnakers. :yikes: ;) We've already killed a 3 ft rattlesnake last week.

MNewton~ Have a great time on your long weekend. Hope you get a lot of R&R while you're there.

Michele~ I used to have an aunt that liked to pitch cheeks. Ouch!! She was vivious!! :rofl: Or at least I thought so. All of us kids would always hide behind something to keep away from her. I got in more trouble hiding from her. :dz: But I didn't like her until I grew up and she stopped that pitching!!! :D

Weird things happening!!
 
I just had the weirdiest thing happen. I was posting and previewed the post and my post itself was ok but the box where I type had extra lines that I didn't type in it. I deleted those lines and previewed it and it wasn't in the post and low and behold it was back in the posting box again. So, I deleted it again and submitted.

Does anyone know what in the world happened??? Is it a virus?

Getting off to a rough start
 
Thanks for all of the warm welcomes.
I haven't been able to get back to the forum since Sunday but finally was able to read the rest of Sunday's thread.
I am really having a tough time getting on the right track with my eating.
Those devotions really encouraged me, thanks.
I start the day determined to do well and then I get under some stress
or something just simply looks really good and I go for it then it's a total dissaster
for the rest of the day.
If you folks don't mind I think it would help if I could post each day how I am doing. I do much better with accountability.
I would really appreciate some prayer for some resolve and dedication.
I guess I could really use some direction as well. I'm floundering a bit on what "program" to go on.
I would really love to hear what is working for you.
I have to cook for my family so I need to deal with "real" food as apposed to premade foods (boy, it seems that would be so much easier sometimes???)
I have a home daycare along with my own kids and It seems I am constantly feeding the kids, between snacks and lunch and then afternoon snacks again.
UGH!!! It is really difficult to stay away from food.
The doctor also says I have high cholesterol and he's giving me 2 months to bring it under control on my own "or else" :devil:
Thanks everyone. It has helped already just writing it down.

You have my *Prayers!* Loosing weight is quite a struggle, especially with all your children and then to run a daycare to boot... whew :stress: My sister runs a daycare and has the same problem you do. She said it helps her to have her exercise bike in the livingroom and everytime she wants to munch with the kids she just gets on her bike & peddles her bike for 10 - 15 min and the urge goes away. The bike being in the livingroom she can still see the kids. Just an idea. As for the type of food she just watches her carbs (diabetic), fat and calories. She's lost about 13 lbs in a month this way. I hope I have helped some. Maybe getting ideas from everyone will help you come up with something that fits you and your lifestyle :goodvibes

Hi! I just wanted to share with all of you what happened at my doctor's appointment. She told me that she'd have me get an EKG if my BP hadn't gone down. Then, she checked my BP and asked "What have you been doing?" I asked why she asked and she told me my BP was in the normal range. I told her I had been following the DASH eating plan and she had heard about it and wants more info on it. She couldn't believe that my BP had dropped that much in one month and if it worked for me she should be telling other patients about it. I'm so excited that I don't have to go on medication and no EKG either!!!! She told me to keep doing what I'm doing and to walk more than I am and that she'd check it again in 3 months.

result of sin. Gluttony, sloth, laziness; these things can lead to

Wow - so much to catch up !
 
Everyone's been posting so much and I LOVE IT! :D It's just hard for me to catch up with it all so I start here and post a little at a time. Besides my computer is wanting to give me fits this am so I'll try to get on later and post a little more. . .

Our bell choir at church, we've been doing this about a year, I have been in it since the start and really enjoy it. I have played piano since I was 6 so it's not really a challenge but the people, the music selections, and just music in general, I really love it. (If music is involved, count me in! :smug: ) I tried to start a bell choir for the younger children (colored bells too) a couple years back but lack of participation, not many children in the target age range and it just didn't work. :(

EZ - good for you, keep that nephew busy and out of trouble! Sounds like the type of discipline we had growing up, if you were in trouble at school - you were in twice as much trouble at home. Wish more families would adhere to at least 'some' discipline!!! :^:

lateralus98 - girl you got a lot on your plate! Just do what YOU need to do and trust in the Lord for direction. Sounds like you have a good plan in place of being healthier and stronger inside and out! ;) Would love to see pics of your poms if you have any? PS Eat something!

SunnyD - Oh Miss Donna, you were my inspiration walking the park again last night, especially on that second lap! :dizzy: Actually I couldn't wait to get on here and post that 'I made it 2 laps again!' 2 laps equal 2.5 miles and I can do it in 42 minutes, (used to take me 45 but I have been moving!) So that puts me up to 20.7 mile as of last night.

Today is suppose to be absolutely beautiful :cool: so I plan on walking at lunch and hopefully add another block or so to my steps, I have the time so I figure 'why not?" Anyway, you keep up the good work too and I'll be trying to follow. . .

Hello to all new and older CER's !
Sorry I have not been in for a while. I went away last week to stay with a family I have know for about 11 years who used to live all of 5 miles away and now who live a couple of hundred! It was a good week and lovely to see them again. Unfortunately I ended the week with a stomach bug and had d & v on my last day so I was very pleased to get safely on the train and get home. Although the homecoming was full of suprises as my neighbour had resigned from her job that she has had about 8 months. I am pleased she is out of that hospital as she has hated it from day one and I suspect there has been a fair amount of corporate bulying going on.Unfortunately she would have been sacked as she did a minor drug maladministration but she decided to jump first before they pushed. Anyway she still might have to go through a disciplinary.
Also I came home to a big row from a friend from church. It was thoughtless and stupid of me not to let her know I was away and I thought of sending her a text a few times and never got round to it.Apparently she rung the house twice and got no reply and was worried about me as I have been very low and depressed lately. So I decided to write a card and took it round with a bunch of flowers but even that was wrong as she said I should have rung first in case she had someone there and a bunch of flowers could not undo the wrong and make it all right again. I was very very upset to say the least. Quite why she didn't send me a text if she was that worried I do not know. I finally got round to sending her a text about two days before I came home. She said some very hurtful things and its going to be very hard to put it all behind me.Ho hum.
I have my scooter back and all mended and in one piece!! I am still undecided what to do about church...perhaps this episode will help me!!

A h well I must go and tackle the ironing pile..take care all and God Bless.

I'm so tired :tired:this morning and things seem to be crazy! :crazy: I had decided to wait and go to Abilene for WI:goodscale and my Walmart trip until tomorrow so my oldest DD could go and we could pick out material for her prom dress and then my little DD is sick:stars: this morning and looks like I may have to go to Abilene today and take her to the doctor. :dz: Kaci's isn't sick enough to miss school but she told me that she is coughing all through class even with the prescription cough med and that the nurse took her temp yesterday and she had 99.9. And the nurse NEVER called me! Well, she's not got what I would consider a fever this morning but who knows what will happen. I've got to go to LA today or tomorrow for sure. And we really need to get Kelli's material and she can't go today (school and work) nor in the AM tomorrow (work). I know it seems like not much to ya'll, but its another stress :stress: in my life. And I don't want to have to go twice with gas prices like they are. :faint:

you always seem to beat me to the post. ;) Even with getting all that walking in! :D I'm trying very hard to get more walking in everyday. I normally get 1 1/2 miles up to 3 1/2 miles a day but just haven't been posting it. I would like to increase enough to be getting 2-4 miles a day by the end of the month. I walk on the treadmill every morning and sometimes other times through the day. And I love to walk outside this time of the year but haven't been having enough time with softball, etc...

That is SOOOOOOOO awesome!!! You Go girl!!! You must tell us more about DASH. Sounds like we all need to be on it. I know you are very happy and excited that you yourself have done something to reverse the direction of something going wrong with your body. Wow, that's a wonderful feeling!!!

I hope you will come here every day and post. We all need to do that to make ourselves accountable. As far as your foods, I would just keep your cooking to very simple meals. No processed foods at all! Just basic type foods: meat, veggies, a starch, a dairy, a fat and maybe a fruit. What works for us is I grill or bake a meat (chicken, fish, pork chops, steak, etc...), I steam some veggies (Like broccoli, okra, brussel sprouts, squash, green beans, etc..) or a salad, a small baked potato or 1/2 cup long cooked rice or small cob of corn. Remember - none of the "real" veggies are going to hurt you. It takes more energy to digest salad than the calories it has in it. But remember that the starches veggies will hurt you if you eat too many of them, these include corn, potatoes, lima beans, blackeyed and green peas, etc.. I do marinade my meats in different ways - lemon juice, white cooking wine, spices, 1 TB extra virgin olive oil, teriyaki sauce, lt sodium soy sauce, etc...

I'm sure you are fixing healthy foods for your kiddos, so when you get hungry or the munches grab some baby carrots or celery or a piece of fruit. Something that helps me personally, if I want something sweet I cut up different fruits, add vanilla yogurt and a few chopped pecans and it is yummy and it makes me feel like I'm cheating and it's all healthy.

Hey there Sherry girl... no competition here :shrug: are we competing? I didn't know that :lol: I just come in my office soon after my walk because it is WARM ;) I don't like to compete in that way... only when it comes to challenging myself am I a big competitor :bubbles: Or maybe with getting in some walking miles :D Now there... my competitive personality may come out some :lol:

By the way... I totally agree with you about NO PROCESSED FOODS!! Joe and I had cut them out about 6 years ago when I saw a program on Discovery Health about Hydrogenated & Partially Hydrogenated Oils and it's link to hardening of the arteries, strokes and heart attacks. So many of the food prepackaged today have it in them for a creamy texture in the product!! So if you want a treat ~ you are best off to make it yourself and with fruit is better. This morning for breakfast I had Free-Range Omega 3 egg-whites, scrambled (sometimes with 1 yoke), 1/2 cup of Organic old fashion oatmeal cooked w/ cinn. and molasses and 3/4 C of fresh strawberries :T (yes...the ones that my Zeppe got into yesterday :lol: ). So going Natural is Ohhhh sooooo goood for you :smug:

I have always wanted a *walking buddy* and now I do :flow1: I so know what you mean about the laps!! I walk 4 times around the park where I live to get in 3 miles and sometimes that last lap seems to stretch toward the end :lol: You are doing a marvelous job!!!

Wow! 4 pages in 1 day you guys are good, I'll have a stack to read when I get back.
Margie- Mitchy is right- all of us have been there and it is so fustrating to have a post and then loose it.
Mitchy- prayers it works out, so true have to look after you, the rest will take care of itself.
Mrs. Smiley- Fruit and yogurt, nuts wow your making me hungry that sounds good, thanks for compliment. I am a single, childless women so my family, and youth group take up alot of my free time. My staff are also very good so most of the time things go smooth, the moms with work, kids, hubby ect ect. are the ones that have it rough.
Jackay- They do have pinchy cheeks they are adorable kids.
Sunny- Hey there! Thanks ! Of course I have pics, my kids, you guys will be plagued with them. The cat/berries what a cute story
M-newton- Have fun on vacation
Mom of 10- prayers for resolve and dedication, can't even imagine what your day is like. I have to do dinner for 4 clients at work, and that usually gets me hungry so I end up picking instead of eating, then eat later so get behind I think posting everyday is a great idea, keep us informed how your doing,
Wilma- congrats that is way no no meds!
Teel- sorry to hear of the falling out with your friend that is too bad, prayer all things work out. pray you find an appropriate church as that is so important.

I am down 5 lbs at weigh in yesterday- must of been the stress, as I ate poorly. This week will be a challenge as well.

Eric left me a message on answering machine yesterday....and he WAS in the hospital for 3 days, not sure why yet, because i haven't talked to him on the phone. So not sure if i'm upset at him or not. I'll listen to what he has to say.

The DASH diet...

Found it on page 145 of my First Place/Living the Legacy weight loss book.

The latest news on controlling blood pressure, however, comes from a study called DASH- Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, this study found that eating the right foods can lower blood pressure as effectively as taking medication...
High in fruity/veggies (7-10 servings a day)
" " low-fat dairy foods (2 - 3 servings a day)
" " grains (breads, cereal, rice/pasta (6 or more servings a day)
Remember...the white grains are worthless
Moderate amounts of lean meat, chicken or fish daily (no more than 2 servings daily)
Legumes, nuts and seeds (4-5 servings weekly) (more beans and nuts or seeds)
Low in fat and saturated fat- no more than 2 to 3 daily servings of fats, such as oils, marg, mayo or s. dressing.
Low in sweets- no more than 5 low-fat sweets each week. Fruit is the preferred dessert.
The DASH study did not involve efforts to lose weight or restrict sodium.

The DASH researchers don't understand all the reasons that this eating plan is so beneficial. One reason may be its hight potassium, magnesium and calcium content.

There is good evidence that salt restriction can lower blood pressure. Higher salt intake is related to higher blood pressure in some people. Cutting back on salt and sodium may help keep blood pressure low. Use less salt in cooking and at the table. Most salt and sodium come from processed and fast foods. On and on...

The First Place/Living the Legacy is the program I started last night. Basically, it's following the pyrimid and the exchanges per day with TONS and TONS of bible reading, scripture and prayer.

Today has not been so good, gals. I got into a big fight with my friend Chris last night, I dropped out of college today, and I feel more depressed than ever. But hey, on the up side I dropped four pounds. Whoop dee frickin doo. I'm so confused right now, I just feel hurt and useless. What's the point in trying when it ultimately gets you NOWHERE!

Lateralus98~i'm sorry you had that big fight with Chris but try to give it some time. Hopefully you'll make up soon, or feel better about it. It's ok to feel hurt. You need to keep in mind that you've been successful, you are already down 5 lbs. WOOHOO We all have struggles in life, this is yours for today, but it doesn't mean that you can't be good to yourself. Hang in there sweets! :grouphug:

lateralus98...Don't be so hard on yourself. NOTHING is hopeless and I know you know that. Through Christ all things are possible. These are just setbacks and what satan means for evil, God turns into good. DO NOT FORGET THIS. Find scripture that pretains to your situation or how you feel and read it, write it, memorize it, sing it, and keep repeating it and satan will be defeated. The Word is our strength and shield. I will keep your frustrations in my prayers today.

lateralus98...Think about it...you had this icky night and a frustrating day...BUT...do you REALLY want to ruin your entire weekend you waited to have all week. No...you don't want that. There is NOTHING you can do to change all the yuk, accept the attitude and response and reaction to the Yuk. Awwww...c'mon, give yourself that huge bear hug, I'm giving you one too and smile, and HEY...IT'S THE WEEKEND! Do something for YOU this weekend but not get reckless with the food. God Bless!

Thanks. I'm trying to fix this train wreck by going to the college and talking to an academic advisor. Thank you for the advice...definitely will take it! :tread:
I have to have to HAVE TO work in at least 15 mins on that exercise bike. Hey, we all gotta start somewhere, right? :lol:

My advise to you is to put your hope in God! You need to refuse to be overwhelmed by your
circumstances. You need to put your confidence in God. He will lift you up, and He will take
care of you and protect you.
Another thing that helps me is to read Psalms.


Prayer for you: Lord, depsite what has happened to me, I will put my hope in you. I believe that you
will work out all things for good. In Jesus' name. Amen.

My prayer: Dear Lord,
I ask you to lift up this child of yours and restore her hope and energy in
You. I pray Lord that what ever has happened in her life that you will calm the storms and smooth
any uneasiness away. I ask you Father to put your loving arms around her at this time and comfort
her. Lord, only you know what she is going through and her feelings. Lord, I just ask that you will
help her know that no matter what happened or happens that you love her just the way she is. And
Lord, please help her to always remember to not rely on herself but to rely on You. Help her to
turn her anxiety and stress over to you. Lord, I ask that you flood her mind with peace right now
and take away all the anxiety, stress, fear, and all negative thoughts. I ask that you help her to have
more faith and know that you are always on her side and there for her and will rescue her anytime
she needs you. Please, Lord, help her to put her confidence only in you and not her circumstances.
Please help us Lord to be there for her and help her in anyway she needs us. In Jesus' name I pray.

I found it an easy plan to follow and found it very informative as to how to read labels and know what the salt content of some foods are. I was amazed to see how much there is in processed foods. I haven't eaten anything processed for a month and I think that made the difference for me. I thank God that it did!

Sherry: Thanks for the prayers. I think we all need them for the struggles we have in our lives.

Lateralus: Welcome to you! I want you to know that you are in my prayers. It's tough to go through a struggle but one thing we have is HOPE. It's a wonderful thing to know that when we get through this struggle that there's better things waiting. God loves you and wants HIS very best for you.

Hey I'm on-line at home
 
After a couple hours of frustration with technology and still a couple of 'bugs' in it but I'm on-line for now. . .

Sunny D- Did my walk at lunch, encircled an extra block and then made it to the park tonite while my DD is at the movies with friends. I actually made "3" laps, - I've never done 3 laps before but it felt really good. So my total for April tonight is 26.15 miles!!! I doubt that I'll get any in tomorrow as I have to work dispatch and not even a break for my lunch walk. . .

Wilma - Congrats on your well-being and NO MEDS! That's great news PTL! It does pay to 'keep looking up'.

Teel - Continued prayers dear, things will get better just trust in the Lord. Keep us posted please.

Mitchypoo - What about Eric? I hope you give him a chance, after all he was in the hopital for a few days. Maybe his health will be on the mends and soon thereafter so will the relationship. You also keep us posted, our prayers are with you for a clear mind and our support.
