I find eating healthy opens me up to be more spiritual. I'm a huge Jesus fan and working on becoming a better follower.
I wish you every success in your goals. Staying OP is definitely where it's at. I quit smoking, started eating low-carb, and came back to church after being gone for a year. I also want to start exercise in a more structured way and start praying daily. So it feels like I'm putting my house in order.
It's a journey. Thanks for starting the thread to help others share their journey. And may God bless you and yours.

Hello!
Welcome Follena! I hope by making better choices I find more strength and energy. God is good to me! No complaints... I usually follow low calorie around 1400/day. I read a free book I downloaded from amazon called. Sick to fit... The author weighed 420lbs and through some life changes has lost weight and now is on a running magazine. He was very interesting with discussing how we loose motivation and give up sometimes so easily, basically sabataging ourselves. He gave some strategies for staying the course and getting back on board when we slip up. He was very motivating. I spent the weekend at my sisters and am going home tom. So plan to start tom. Using treadmill and making better choices. Will let you know how it goes. Please Let me know how your doing as well. God bless!

I'll join you, Sue!
I have recently started visiting this forum again after many years of not making it a priority. I am a busy mom of three, teacher, and wife. I am also a student as I am getting my Master's degree in education. So, weight loss has been put on the back burner. It is time for me to get back to the grind and make healthier choices.
Follena, I am also going to work on being more low-carb. I went grocery shopping today, as a matter of fact.
Happy 2019!

Greetings!
Hello all,
My name is Donna. I have "begun again" today.
The past few years have been filled with difficult things that have taken all my energy to live through. God has begun a restoration and rescue process, and the weight on my shoulders has been miraculously lifted! Now I'm ready to get the weight off the rest of me too! Maybe I'll share the details at some point. I am so grateful to the Lord for the strength and courage he gave me during the rocky days. Now I will use that strength and courage to begin to lose this weight as well.
With His help and His grace we can do this!!
Donna

Welcome!
Donna! Glad you joined us... I think the video is advertisements that are randomly added to pay for the web site. I do not think there is anyway to remove it. Sorry to hear you have had so many challenges to face. Life can be hard. I know 2017 and 2018 were my hardest. The loss of my mom and husband within a month and half took it toll. But knowing the Lord and His grace is what brought me through. I ate for comfort and put on more weight. I live alone which makes it easier to sit. Trying to make better choices everyday is my goal now. So i have a task i try to accomplish. Today I put Christmas sweaters and the clothes from my stay at ny nieces away and cleaned most of my bedroom. Now checking email and then getting my walking in. Mini goal is walk for at least a half hour every day. Heres to getting started. Today is 1st day of rest of life... hugs Have an awsome day ladies.

I am so happy to have found this thread. I am back after a long break. 7 years ago I lost 60lbs with the help of this support and have gained half back. It is a constant struggle of starting on Monday and failing by Friday. The past year has been very hard. Divorcing after 23 years of marriage after my husband cheated on me has been the hardest thing to get through but with the help of God and Jesus I am in a better place. I try to work on my relationship with God daily and I am happy to be able to connect with other people of faith.
My daughter is getting married this summer and I am really motivated to lose this weight so I am not the whale in pictures.

Thank you Sue. It has been a year of personal pain and growth but I am in such a better place,
I ate more at dinner than I should have but overall had a decent food day yesterday. I got up and worked out this morning and will have a better food day today.
Have a good one.
Be blessed,
Kassi

Hey!
Awesome job kassi! I am walking 30 mins every morning, not great eating yet as using up food I already have at home, not currently working i am in process of getting new job. Lots of job applications in and interview scheduled. I resigned from last position to assist niece with 3 young kids while her husband is deployed. I have a retirement income but can't justify throwing food away. So...My plan is too purchase mostly good food from now on concentrating on fresh veggies. So far so good. My weigh in this morning was 297.6 so down a few. Overall think walking every morning helps. I plan to increase speed as gets easier. Long ways to go. But its new lifestyle i am trying to adopt so will get there. Dont beat yourself up over eating a little more at one meal. Just over all stay on plan and you will succeed. Thats what i am striving for anyway. Have an awesome blessed day!

Encouragement to all!
Hello -- I too am currently making an effort to lose weight, and sadly have lots to lose. The batteries in my scale have died and somehow I feel like I am not going to replace them. Instead each week I take a photo of myself in the same shorts and look for changes -- after just over a month I can see changes and this has encouraged me! So I am not sure where I am starting and how much I hope to lose, but I'm sure 60 pounds is about right. Sigh.
I too turn to God and the bible for strength. I wish I understand why I can lean on God quite well in times of difficulty, why I can find unbridled joy and release of stress through him, but yet I just can't stop turning to food for comfort too. I eat when I'm hungry and when I'm not hungry. It's like I'm just trying to stuff enough in me to quiet the anxiety that lives in me. I'm hoping through prayer that it will just be God I turn to.
Question....do you know of any conferences or retreats in this area? I really think I would love to spend a week away at a retreat that immerses me in faith and dives into these food issues.
Thanks, Mary

Hi I seem to have the knack of joining dead threads. I hope this one is alive in well.
I love the Lord and hoping to find others who share in my faith as well as in uplifting up one another.
I have about 100 plus lbs to lose down 12.
