 Welcome Friends

You've found a great place to come and vent, share or ask for prayer support.
This is a great group who will be very encouraging, caring and loving....
....anyone is welcome to join!

A Servant's Prayer --

Jesus, My Jesus....How marvelous are your ways....
Far more splendid than my mind can envision.
What an honor to be chosen by you.
A lowly child I am, but empowered by the Holy Spirit
to fulfill the great hope to which you have called me.
I give myself totally to you, Lord.
Take my imperfect heart and make it perfect.
Peel away the hardness.
Close the doors I have opened to the temptations of this world.
Gently remove the roots of painful memories, sins, doubts and fears.
Discard anything that separates me from you.
Lord, fill the emptiness with the light of your love that I might be a beacon calling the lost back to you.

To love as you love.....
To serve as you serve.....
To forgive as you forgive.....
Always mindful of my nothingness while doing great
and marvelous things in your name and for your glory.
This I pray, Jesus, in YOUR name ...
Amen.

Hi Gals ~

A new month already, fall is upon us.

Had a nice week-end. We went to Guhann Grill Friday night and I had a shrimp stir fry. We didn't have my Granddaughter as my kids were too tired to go out, son had to work the cross-country race after school. We did go by and see her yesterday :)

Yesterday Angie my step-d and I went to an Oktoberfest, a lot of good food and beer ;)

After church this morning we did some produce shopping at the produce market...boy did I stock up on pears for the week :T I got Asian, Bosc, Red Anjou and Bartlett...2 each for my lunches. Cheap this time of year :)

Spent the rest of the day paying bills, watching football and emptying out my truck of tools I don't need to start the week.

Our church posted up Angie and some of her fellow bell choir ringers today. So I will link it at the end of this post. It wasn't their full group, usually twice as many but they didn't need everyone for the song today. The lead in shows the outside of our church...the gym, conference rooms, some classrooms, kitchen and Angie's yoga room are in the building on the far right of the lead in picture....the sanctuary is to the left.

Well, I will check back later ~ Have a great week...and OH! ANGIE is the on the right in the bell choir...next to a young man and our Vicar's wife...she has her hair back and is in a light brown sweater, wearing her glasses....for those that have not seen her here in my pictures.

THANKS FOR SHARING THAT WITH US GARY ~ WOW ... that was really great to listen to. It's so pretty and calming; I love it!. I finally have PC's that I can watch and listen to videos on; and I'm so glad I finally got to hear Angie and her fellow bell choir. Do they have a CD out yet? That would be so fab!

Gee, it slipped my mind that it is October now; we had lovely :sunny: weather the last two days (the predictions were way off; yeah). I made a nice stew out of some of the leftover turkey I had in the freezer. I put in leftover turkey, broth, onions, a yam, one new potato, kniblet corn, baby carrots, and spinach; plus herbs & spices too. It was totally yummy!

Hope you all have a great week coming up ... Rosebud :flow2:

EZMONEY 10-03-2011 07:53 AM

Hi Gals ~

Ha! No ROSEBUD no cd yet. Just a little church group here. They usually have anywhere from 7 to 15 people...being volunteer they come and go. They practice almost every Saturday during the school year. Angie loves to do it, they play at church 2-3 times a month and they rotate the music so that all 3 of our services get a chance to hear them. It is really cool at Christmas when all the "ringers" play and the choir is full. Thank you for the kudos!

LisaLou 10-03-2011 01:23 PM

We saw Courageous this weekend. WOW What a movie! I highly encourage you to see it, especially if you're a daddy or there's a man in your life that's a daddy. What a movie to inspire the men in our churches to step up and lead their families. Truly amazing.

Don't forget the tissues....

Justwant2Bhealthy 10-05-2011 07:05 PM

 HELLO FRIENDS ~ WE had two more :sunny: days in a row, but we did get a tiny, light sprinkle for few minutes yesterday. Our SIL took us up town for an appt and shopping; so got a lot of walking in yesterday. Yes, my legs and feet needed lots of rest last night to recupe, so I did some reading.

WELCOME AGAIN, DONNA ~ The only nickname that family and friends called me was "DEE or DEE-DEE", but I use ROSEBUD here and on the net at large. I live in Northern Ontario, Canada up in the James Bay Frontier just below Hudson Bay. The nearest city to our town is Timmins, Ontario.

One of my most favorite scriptures is in my signature, but I have too many to mention really. I would want my Bible with me no matter where I am. I plan to stay here where I am; I prefer small towns to the city (I have lived in both). I have learned that GOD/Jesus LOVE me the way I am; and I have to learn to do the same (I just wish others would too). 2 Samuel 16:7 (another favorite of mine).

I am just trying to eat and live as healthy as I can -- we can only do our best and let GOD take care of the rest. I believe that GOD wants us all to be healthy, but I don't think HE wants us obsessing about our weight or appearance. WE must keep our focus on GOD first and foremost -- sharing our hope and GOD's Love with others.

My Mission/Ministry -- is as stated above; plus being a PRAYER WARRIOR, and a sunbeam ... shining GOD's Love around to all I meet. Matthew 5:16 ~ "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven."

I am trying to live my life to the fullest now; I don't want to wait for that. I recall GARY reminding us all to LIVE BETWEEN THE STEPS ... right on! And I am ... our new home is one good example; living for our dreams now. PRAIZE GOD!

Justwant2Bhealthy 10-06-2011 01:55 PM

I had a good chuckle when I saw that my morning devotional scripture was about shining our light today in Matthew 5:16. I added it to the previous post too. No coincidence, I'm sure. It also has this verse by SPER ...

Lord, help us always to put YOU first
In everthing we say and do ...
So that Your Light will shine through us
And show the world their need of YOU!

The LORD works in mysterious, yet mighty ways. ;) Jesus said not to hide our light in the candle story in Ephesians 5:8, making the same point. That is why I also enjoy being a CHRISTIAN ENCOURAGER so much; I could add that to my mission or ministry list as well.

We have another beautiful :sunny: fall day here; we are thrilled about that as we approach our Thanksgiving weekend coming up. Just doing stuff around the house today. Take good care ... Rosebud :flow2:

bargoo 10-06-2011 07:47 PM

Rosebud , I read in your post that you want to be a Sunbeam. Reminds me of when I was a little girl going to Sunday School and we sang.....
"Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam
To Live for Him each day
Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam
At home, at school at play".
and many more verses.
Another favorite from Sunday School...
"This little light of mine
Im'gonna let it shine
Let it shine
Let it shine , let it shine". etc.
Several years ago Donna Fargo ( I think it was Donna Fargo ) had a Country Western Hit "You can't be a beacon if your light don't shine'.

Justwant2Bhealthy 10-07-2011 01:24 PM

GARY ~ thanks for that; I hope to be -- that is my ministry for GOD. As I shared with you all when I first came here ... the name CHRISTIAN ENCOURAGERS jumped out at me becuz just before that I had asked GOD what I could do for Him. I felt bad that I had so many physical limitations, but He showed me that He had important jobs for people like me --

1) He needs more PRAYER WARRIORS: people who have the time & compassion to prayer for others and the world. See James 5:16; 2 Chronicles 7:14; 1 Thess 5:16-18.

2) He wants Christians to ENCOURAGE each other more (lift each other up & edify each other in positive ways, with LOVE & not judgement). See Isaiah 41:6 & 1 Thess 5:11.

3) To tell people that HE LOVES THEM -- to be a sunbeam or light to others & the world so that they would know this. GOD IS LOVE -- so it only makes sense that the whole gospel is summed up in His Love. See Jeremiah 31:3; 1 John 3:11 & 4:7/10.

"LOVE the LORD, YOUR GOD with all your heart & soul & mind; and LOVE thy neighbour as yourself" -- Matthew 22: 37-39/ 7:12. LOVE isn't just a feeling: it is a knowing, an action, and a choice ...

Today's devotional verse was this -- "By this (Love) all will know that you are my disciples, if you have LOVE for one another". JESUS talking here in John 13:35.

HOW CAN WE SHOW GOD'S LOVE TO OTHERS -- by helping them; praying for them; caring for them; sharing GOD'S LOVE with them; sharing a hopeful scripture verse; encouraging them with a kind word, a smile, or a gentle touch; a phone call, email, or a visit; giving a meal, treat, or small gift; lending a listening ear; doing them a kindly favor like offering a ride, opening a door or carrying a parcel; and offering helpful advice or timely wisdom.

BARGOO ~ thanks for those examples; I only heard the first verse of that song on a movie a few years ago -- it touched me at the time for many reasons, and I won't soon forget it!

bargoo 10-07-2011 11:47 PM

It is so important if we have young children that they go to Sunday School, as you can see I still remember songs that I learned in Sunday School. I also remember Bible Verses that I learned as well as the familiar Bible Stories. We remember those things we learned as children. Some of us may never go to church again but down in our hearts these wonderful lessins are still there.

EZMONEY 10-08-2011 12:02 PM

Hi Gals :)

Well, I have taken the dogs for their walk...although Reba is only up to 3/4 of a block now. Hoping next visit to the vet next Friday she will be released to go-go-go!

Angie went to a yoga class this morning then will head over to church for bell choir practice. Gives me time to get laundry started...thank goodness I vacuumed yesterday or I would be exhausted by now with all that work :D

Watched that GRAND-daughter of ours at my son's house last night. It's a little easier for them, that way she doesn't wake up when she is put into her car seat. No problem for us since they live about 1.5 miles away. We often just walk up. She is just getting so much fun to play with...I can't wait until this time next year when we will have a ...Lord willing...a 7 month old and a 19 month old grand children running/crawling around :)

Just a quick note here on how everyone has ENCOURAGED me here over the last 10 years!! Wow..10 years...who woulda thunk that! :D

I think today we may go do a little shopping to see if we can add to our pirate theme for Halloween. We will once again do trunk or treat at church and decorate the truck, the dogs and ourselves as pirates. Pretty sure we will be guaranteed a 3rd place trophy this year as we already have won first and second...:D

Well, off for a second load of clothes....

be good

Justwant2Bhealthy 10-08-2011 02:13 PM

BARGOO ~ I agree -- you know, I went to church and Sunday School straight from the time I was a baby until I was 10-11 years old. Our dear minister loved JESUS so much and was so gracious. He loved & accepted everyone. I felt that I could see a glow in his face & he smiled all the time.

I still recall & sing songs that I learned there too (just didn't learn the Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam one; not sure why). It was a United Church, and I know that different churches do teach different songs.

My 3 favorite songs were JESUS LOVES ME; LITTLE BROWN CHURCH (it was a little brown church too); and my favorite hymn was HOLY, HOLY, HOLY (which we sang every Sunday to open the service).

I have no doubt that those years formed my strong love of GOD and JESUS that has stayed with me my whole life. "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 :D

"Holy, Holy, Holy" Is my all time favorite hymn but I have others I love, as well. "Standing On Holy Ground" and "We shall Behold Him" are just two of my favorites..

Justwant2Bhealthy 10-08-2011 02:34 PM

Yes, there were/are many that I loved too, like -- BE THOU MY VISION, IN THE GARDEN, ABIDE WITH ME, WE SHALL BEHOLD HIM, IT IS NO SECRET, OH HOLY NIGHT, and so many others ... :)

bargoo 10-08-2011 04:09 PM

I see we agree on "We Shall Behold Him" I also know "Be Thou My Vision".I recognize ypur other favories as well. Have we been going to the same church ?

EZMONEY 10-08-2011 06:55 PM

I love singing at church...too bad my fellow worshipers don't want to hear me! :D

Justwant2Bhealthy 10-09-2011 06:11 PM

GARY ~ DH told me that one time his priest told him not to sing so loud until he knew the songs better ... I couldn't believe it! Then some time later, he told him he was doing so much better. He was a very nice man -- but I guess DH may have been going off key or something.

BARGOO ~ I have been to many different churches in my lifetime, so anything is possible ... ;)

BTW, we have lovely weather here again today @ 73-75 F and it's supposed to go up to 77 F tomorrow. All next week is supposed to be nice too. We are indeed blessed and thankful during this long holiday weekend ... HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all our fellow Canadians out there ...

:thanks1::turkey::thanks1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 10-12-2011 02:49 PM

Gee, we have been so blessed these last two weeks -- with such gorgeous weather; it makes up for the very cold days we had in September. DH has been doing lots of yard maintenace -- esp raking up all the leaves blowing from the neighbours trees; I think he's gathered up 4-5 giant bags already. Plus he has been doing little odd jobs around the house, and his bike runs too ... well, it keeps him busy and that is what is important really.

My day is busy just doing the light housechores, cooking, laundry, paying bills, daily odd jobs, looking after NIKO, managing my pc's (trying to figure everything out), unpacking & sorting, visiting with friends, esp here on the net, answering mail & appts, etc. I spent most of today downloading my security programs for my newer pc, which should have been simple but I ran into a glitch; so I prayed about it and came up with an alternative that worked out for me -- PTL.

We have really nice neighbours around here too; and that makes it much more pleasant to live here. It really is different having your own place; there is a kind of peace that is very comforting. My family always lived in our own homes, so I think I was just used to that; we love that we can do what we want when we need to & visa-versa -- so much more freedom here.

I was finally able to watch one of my favorite church services on the net this week. Now that we don't have transportation, I can watch church on the net. NUMPSTER fixed up my desktop pc so I could watch videos, shows and the like with special stereo sound. I probably could watch them on this laptop too. I use a different pc for different things; it's nice to have a backup now too. We are truly blessed and I am very grateful.

Hope you all are having a great week ... Rosebud :flow2:

Happy Birthday, Rosebud and God Bless You !

abbysue715 10-14-2011 03:59 PM

This might not be the right place for this but doing a google search was too overwhelming. I have been reading my bible for the first time on my own and started in proverbs. It says a lot about fearing the lord and I get confused. When I think of fear I think of being afraid, terrified even and I don't see the lord as terrifying. Can someone help me understand a bit better please?

EZMONEY 10-14-2011 05:38 PM

Welcome ABBYSUE :)

You ask a very good question! One that is difficult to explain sometimes, especially to those that have just started reading from the Bible.

Simply to fear the Lord is our first step towards wisdom, respect and love for Him. As Christians we are not afraid of the Lord for we know we have eternal life through His son Jesus Christ, we also grow in knowledge of how much He loves us and wants nothing but good things for His creation.

Without the fear of the Lord, there is no reason (in their hearts) to respect Him and obey Him. Faithful service to God and obedience to Christ is rooted in the FEAR OF THE LORD.

Complicated but simple...;)

In the Old Testament God showed us the power he had many times to destroy those that despised Him after he showed them so many times His love.

Reading in the New Testament we see that out of love He sent His Son to take the place of our sins so that believing in Him and repenting of our sins we have nothing to fear.

We are here to help if we can. If you have any specific scripture or questions I would be glad to try and help, there are people here much more knowledgeable than me too.

You may also PM me with any question you may not want posted here.

May Our Lord Bless You As You Study His Word!

Gary

bargoo 10-14-2011 08:24 PM

abbysue, congratulations on your decision to study the Bible. I would recommend the Book of John in the New Testament. One of the most famous scripures is John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

Justwant2Bhealthy 10-15-2011 12:26 AM

Awe ... gee, thanks you guys; geepers, even I forgot it was my birthday until late this afternoon -- I was distracted as DH was trying to put together some mini-bookcases for me and he was upset that he couldn't figure it out. I finally talked him into letting me help him, and we did get two put together by that time. Called it a day for dinner, and that's when I remembered it was my birthday.

So, DH went and got us a quick take-out dinner (I had a roast beef sub) so I didn't have to cook. Not too much choice as we only have one place nearby and it was raining all day on and off. But we've been blessed with great weather lately, so I don't mind at all.

We've had dozens (33+) of Rock Doves visiting our big feeder out in the back yard this week, which tickles DH pink. He's really getting into the birding hobby now; I got him hooked. I think we'll go through lots of bird seed this winter ... ;)

:welcome: ABBYSUE ~ yes, I had the same question myself some time ago, and found this explanation more than once -- that the word "fear" in this context meant "respect, reverence, or awe" of his might & power & sovereignty ... or a healthy respect for who HE is. I can fear fire and/or have a healthy respect for it too (i.e. when I used fire to heat my home).

The original texts often had more than one meaning for the same word as we do in English. For instance, LOVE -- there is agape LOVE (God's pure love); falling in Love (infatuation); lust Love; friendship Love; family Love, marriage Love, etc.

As BARGOO shares with us, there are many more scriptures that explain that GOD Loves and cares for us (ie the book of John). We love GOD becuz he first loved us (I John 4:10 & 19); and GOD IS Love (I John 4:8 & 19).

"There is NO FEAR in LOVE; but perfect Love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. " (I John 4:18) Then he goes on to say that GOD IS LOVE in the very next verse. We have to read the scriptures in context of one another; and they often explain others as well. I John talks about GOD and His love in great detail. :D

bargoo 10-15-2011 08:41 AM

Yesterday was a busy day starting out at 9AM with dye injection in preparation for bone scan later in day. After injection DIL and I went to breakfast and then to the Mall as I had to wait 4 hours before having the scan. We only went to Macy' and Penneys where I got some new underwear and she got a new purse , we looked around in Coldwater Creek but didn't buy anything because it was time to get back to the Hospital, too bad as they were having a big sale 70% off. Back to the Hospital for the scan , getting out just in time for the afternoon rush hour traffic, seems like the entire city of Sacramento was on 80W at the same time. I was tired when I got home.
About the Scan , oncologist wants it as he has seen a little progression on my lab work. He may want to change the type of treatment I am getting. I am not worried as I know The Great Physician is in charge.

Justwant2Bhealthy 10-15-2011 04:20 PM

BARGOO ~ to you; that was a long, tiring day. Sending up ^prayers^ for a halt to any progression; we ask for total remission. We thank GOD for His great compassion; and admire your consistant faith. We're standing with ya all the way ...

I often wonder that myself BARGOO...even posted about hope in another thread this evening.

As you know that dreaded "C" runs in my family....father, grandfather,cousins....and one that strengthens mine and your relationship my sister.

I see the stuggles, the trips to the doctor, the $$$ problems, the "worry" :(

I hope I don't get it. The odds are great that I will.

But just as you and I know...we are both assured of eternity with EVERY SINGLE DAY being a bazillion times better than our best day EVER on Earth...

If I had just twice the joy on Earth in one day as the days my children or my granddaughter was born I would collapse with the weight of the  tears of  joy!

Of course neither of us wants to check our coats here any time soon...but at least we can hope on the GOOD NEWS that the moment we close our eyes here they open forever in  Paradise!

That is what my sister hopes for every single day now....

And that, my dear friend, is worth living for

Yes, we feel the same way about this. While we are here, we pray with all the faith we have, believing and knowing that our loving Father doesn't want any of us to suffer; but wants us all to be well. Some experiences here are for learning and growing in our faith, as you mentioned. They can bring us into a relationship with Him; or even closer to GOD, if we let them.

And for those who's time may be near, we pray for a peaceful, painfree, & tranquil journey back home to be with our LORD. We all know about the "C" trials here: our family too, as you know. Many have been healed, but some have gone home; and through it all, GOD has given us strength & peace & faith & a great HOPE -- for now & all eternity.

Prayers continue for Denise and all your family as well ...

bargoo 10-16-2011 09:23 AM

Yes , I have the big C, it has visited me twice in my lifetime, but strange as it may sound, there are worse things that can happen.
I only mention my Cancer once in awhile in the hope there may be someone that it can help. My favorite scriptures are Phillipians 4:5-7.. I have truly found the peace of God which passes all understanding.

HI GALS ~ :)

Sitting here watching the World Series with my goldens at my feet :) Angie is off at her monthly teacher group BUNKO game tonight.

We went to a street fair Sunday after church, one we go to about every other year. They expected 40,000 people there but I didn't see that...not close. We were a little disappointed as there have been way more vendors in the past. We go to one here in the next city over that brings in over 100,000 people twice a year around Mother's Day and Thanksgiving. We try to get to at least one of those every other year. You kind of see the same things at all of them.

We did have a nice lunch at a new place that focused on Avocados :carrot: I had mahi-mahi tacos with mango salsa and Angie and my step-d had veggie tacos.

We bought some cool coffee from a vendor called HisCoffeeCo. they had Raise The Dead (double French Roast) ~ Vanilla From Heaven (flavored) ~ Holy Grounds (medium) ~ Be Still (decaf) :D I am pretty sure it has backing from a Catholic bunch...not sure but the coffee I got, Holy Grounds, was very good.

A church friend of mine sent this to me via facebook tonight. A very nice site with some nice music to listen to ~ http://gregronning.com/?p=291

We have the house all decorated up for Halloween but as with the last two years we will be going to church with our dogs...all dressed and decorated, truck and all as pirates for the Trunk or Treat fun! We all decorate our cars or trucks and costumes....games and a lot of fun stuff for the kids.

Well Ladies that's all I have tonight :)

GARY ~ thanks for that link; look forward to using it. Did you once say that your church had an online service and site? Could you share the link again please. I thought I had it but with these newer PC's, I have to start my favorites lists all over again with each one. I should make a file of the links and save them on a disk ...

That coffee place sounds really fun and creative; clever idea really. Those veggie tacos sound good too. DH and I are trying out new dishes too; more meatless and/ veggie dishes too. I think half our meals (over the day) are meatless now; we still sub with cheese, eggs, beans, peanut butter, etc. I guess you would say they are quasi-vegetarian becuz we still eat fish & poultry a few times a week too. I still like to have some red meat, but we have cut our portions way down. When I was single, I ate a lot less meat dishes; marriage changed that for me. DH is a meat & potatoes guy, but he is very tolerant of my experiments, and he luvs fish. I've made him rice & veggie stir-fries without meat; and he liked it. I often make homemade vegetable soup, which we both luv. I even make my pita pizzas without meat now too. Sometimes, I give Dh meat, and I have something else instead -- like he luvs his super dogs, so I'll have my veggie pita pizza instead. It's working out good.

We've just been staying home this week; doing stuff around here. The weather has been wet, chilly, and cold. :brr: Today it is very windy, so not fun to go out today. DH is trying to fix a door knob assembly; having some trouble, but it gives him something to do when indoors. Actually, there are probably many things he could do; but I let him choose what he wants to do. Keeps him happy ... ;)

I've been doing a small sorting job each day; by next spring, we may have everything sorted out. I have already gathered almost 8 boxes of stuff for goodwill ... again. I am trying to get rid of anything we are not really using; might as well let someone else have it, and it raises money for a good cause too.

 Hope everyone is having a great week out there; take good care ... Rosebud :flow2:

ROSEBUD

Stopping in between errands.

We do have a link to our church it is www.faithvista.org sometimes it is not very updated!

Here is the link to the Facebook page which is more active!

https://www.facebook.com/faithvista?v=app_2392950137

There are some short videos of the youth on the page that is up plus Angie's bell choir song which I posted before. Also a sermon from our Pastor on Oct.2 and one from our Vicar on Sept.25. We don't post all sermons but we do do some, depends on if someone is there Saturday nights to run the camera. As you can see in the pictures our Saturday night crowd is a bit thin compared to Sunday...usually around 50-60 people.

You will never see me in those videos...my assigned seat...lol....is on the far left middle ...by the Good Shepherd window!! I have sat there for over 30 years...lol

Be good :)

Oh also ROSEBUD here is a link to a thread I have going on less meat more veggies in case you have not seen it. Some good ideas given by the ladies.

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/vege...ie-dinner.html

It may be moved...seems there may be a problem where it is located because of the "meat" talk...

If it does I am sure there will be a link to it.

bye
