Christian Encourager's AUGUST Thread ...
Christian Encouragers ~ ;)
-------------------------------- You've found a great place to come and vent, share or ask for prayer support. This is a great group who will be very encouraging, caring and loving....anyone is welcome to join! A Servent's Prayer -- Jesus, My Jesus....How marvellous are your ways.... Far more splendid than my mind can envision. What an honor to be chosen by you. A lowly child I am, but empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill the great hope to which you have called me. I give myself totally to you, Lord. Take my imperfect heart and make it perfect. Peel away the hardness. Close the doors I have opened to the temptations of this world. Gently remove the roots of painful memories, sins, doubts and fears. Discard anything that separates me from you. Lord, fill the emptiness with the light of your love that I might be a beacon calling the lost back to you. To love as you love..... To serve as you serve..... To forgive as you forgive..... Always mindful of my nothingness while doing great and marvelous things in your name and for your glory. This I pray, Jesus, in YOUR name ... Amen. |
 I didn't realize that it was a new month when I posted this earlier, so I just moved it on over to this current thread ...
HI KAREN ~ nice to see you drop by and those are great pictures too! It's funny seeing the little raggamuffin looking at the baby in the cage -- almost seems to be saying, "whatchya do'in in there?" ;) Will send up prayers for your son and his new family; hope things work out for them all. RONNIE ~ glad you dropped by; and hugs & prayers going out for you & yours ... GARY ~ sent up some prayers for ANGELA that her back heals up quickly for her ... I've done that a few times myself ... ouch! HEY, BOOTSIE ~ you snuck a post in whilst I was typing; ya, that was a very nice surprise! Thanks for the prayers ... We've had a quiet weekend at home; just got our dinner all ready to go in the oven (chicken drums and lots of veggies). Gonna bake some apples & rhubarb too, while I'm at it. Tossing the idea of making DH some banana muffins for next week as well. We had a thunderstorm here yesterday, so had to disconnect my PC (to be on the safe side). There has been a nice breeze keeping the temps from going up too high today; much more comfortable for us all. I went out and watered my flowers earlier; they are doing well. Hope you all have a lovely, restful Sunday ... Rosebud :flow1: PS ... dinner was great; and decided to bake banana-blueberry bran loaves instead, plus did make the rhubarb/apple/strawberry conserve as well. Will have some of that for my evening snack tonight. I put splenda in it, so it is lite on the sugar ... :D |
Hi Gals ~ EDIT ~ I carried this over from JULY...w/o the :) faces!
Angie is feeling a little better. She will get "cracked" tomorrow and, if it goes the norm, she should be ok in a few days. She is worried about her yoga classes though, if she can teach without doing too much. Church was neat today, our new Vicar and his wife were there as he was inducted for the year. He is a young one Has his 4 years of college in plus the first 2 at the seminary so I figure he is about 24-5, but looks younger The last 3 we had were older, they had their college in but did other jobs in the ministry as youth directors or teachers before seminary. Should be fun. Just a reminder our sermons are on Facebook if you have an account. Just PM me and I will direct you. ROSEBUD ~ Prayers for safety through the storms and a "light foot" on the gas for your DH BOOTSIE ~ When I was a child, probably 7 or so a lady came to our door and I answered it...she says...."hello, I'm selling magazines, is your mother home?"....I ran to the room my mom was in and said..."Mom! there's a lady at the door selling magazines...and I think it's GRANDMA!"...it was! We lived in California and she in Illinois so we didn't see her much but I recognized her from pictures. Glad you got to see yours on a surprise visit KAREN ~ Great pictures, but following the story here and facebook...I know you are one happy lady! RONNI ~ Sure doesn't seem like a year on your fil I remember those "getting kids ready for college time!"....after this one they pretty much do it on their own KATHY ~ Glad to hear you had a nice trip BARGOO ~ I hope the birthday was fun...wait til 40...it's a good one How do you feel about the possible upcoming move? TRISH ~ We have had a lot of cancer in my family...dad, grandpa, cousins and now my sister with breast cancer. I am doing a relay walk for cancer next week with my church. ONAMI ~ MATILDA ~ DEB and all the MIA's.... |
I'm going through a particularly rough spot right now, and the Servent's Prayer was very comforting to read. Thank you for posting it. I know that if God brings me to it, He'll see me through it. Fellowship is really a mood lifter, even if it's on the 'net:D
|
:welcome: WINNINGTHEWAR ~ yes, I think that GOD will use any medium to reach people and bless his children (us); and that includes the internet. I think it is great how Christians can meet up with each other on the net; as in our daily lives, stuff often gets in the way.
Glad you dropped by; hope you come and visit us more often. Will send up some ^prayers^ for you too ... |
Somehow I missed this group in my prior browsing of the site.
It is amazing how in our everyday lives we miss the things that are most important. I worry about my weight while other are worrying about their loved ones fighting the war. It is a real eye opener, isnt it? We all need strength and love, right? Please pray that for me, as I will for you. God Bless!!:cheer::cheer: God is our biggest cheerleader. :D:) |
:welcome3: BUTTERFLYDREAMZ ~ so many people have said the same thing; that it was a while before they noticed the FAITH FORUM on the main menu. It is the last one listed under Support Groups. We are glad that you found us though; we love how GOD directs people to this site and then to this thread.
You know the "battle of the bulge" is a kind of war with the flesh; but with help from the LORD, we will be victorious and overcome! Will surely send up some prayers for you too; come back often now ... PS ~ and we are praying for the soldiers from your country, and ours, and any others; that the war will be brought to a halt so that all those brave souls will be able to come home again very soon. |
 BOY, it's a quiet week in here, eh? We have been having lots of :rain: on and off, as I mentioned before. We have :sunny: right this moment; and we've had lots of lovely RAINBOWS lately too; even got some pics of them.
GOOD NEWS REPORT ~ DH's sister dropped by for a visit this afternoon; that was nice. We are happy to hear that her DH (TOM M.) has quit smoking; it has been almost 3 months next week. The doctors gave him this new pill they have (starts with a "C") and it really helped him a lot; and he is hoping that he will be able to continue being ciggie-free once the 12-week program is over next week. She says that he is feeling so much better; and his skin is rosy again and he can even walk better. We were discussing how some people really don't realize how much the ciggies can hurt their basic circulation and overall health. He has also stopped all the hacking (just like my DH has) that he used to do too. She said the difference is amazing! So, PTL ... all our prayers for him are really helping, I think. They will be going down south to a big city hospital for a visit with his heart specialist next week (the 11th of August). Prayers for a good trip and visit with his doctor and family would be appreciated. I thought that you would like to hear some more good news!!! OOPS, dinner is ready -- will be back later ... :D OK, I'M BACK ... like a proverbial bug! ;) Anywho, we had leftover BBQ spit chicken and veggies for dinner. I picked up a spagetti squash the other day becuz I wanted to try it. I baked it for over an hour and it was still kinda crunchy, which I am told is the way it is supposed to be. I made it with a homemade Asian type sauce which I tossed it in afterward. I can see why people like to serve their favorite spagetti sauce over it; will definitely be trying that as well (maybe with the other half tomorrow). Boy, it sure makes a lot; we still have lots left over and I only cooked half! Hope you all have a fantastic Friday tomorrow; another week is almost done ... Rosebud :flow1: |
Hi everyone!
I had placed a prayer request on the prayer warriors thread, and was encouraged to say hello here! So, hello! I'm sitting patiently waiting for the shrimp to come off the grill. It's pretty awesome to be eating that on a Friday night when it used to be pizza every Friday! For those of you who say my prayer request, I had a thought during some prayer time this morning that maybe my husband should tell the president of the company that we feel so called to this area and that God has been preparing us for a big change. I knew it could be really weird, but I also thought if an employer was turned off by that notion, it wasn't someone my husband would want to work for anyway! Well, the president replied and thanked my husband for his openness with his faith and said that he is also a Christian trying to live every day for Him. SO awesome. So, keep praying! We're hoping he gets an interview soon!!! |
Outstanding HICKORY!
|
Hi Gals ~
Well Angie and I just got back from looking at new refrigerators...we are thinking of getting one, don't have to have one yet but maybe soon. We have one in the garage too, which we probably don't need anymore with the kids gone if we get a bigger one for the house. We buy bulk items at Costco so we always have tons of bread and meat...even for the 2 of us...trying to figure the best way to buy and save and be good stewards.... I walked the first lap with my sister, 2nd half for caretakers and family, at the 24 Hour Cancer Relay we are doing with our church members team. My sis and niece walk midnight to 2am Sunday and Angie and I continue from 2 to 4am.....awesome feeling walking with my sister...watching her warm up...using the yoga Angie taught her before her first lap was very emotional for all of us. I will try and jump in here tomorrow...just wanted to say hi and let you know I am here and reading daily! be good ~ Gary |
Hi All!
I've been catching up on everything that has been happening. EZ MONEY - I trust Angie is feeling better now. Hickory - That is so neat that your husband shared his faith only to find out that his boss was a Christian too. Isn't that how God works!! It has been crazy ever since I got back from vacation. Went back to work this past Wednesday and of course, there was a lot of things to catch up on. Had it all caught up by Friday. I've been working every night on the Medical Transcription course. It has been going well. I hope to have the first section done by next Friday. There is a total of 5 sections. I'm so anxious to get this done and be able to work from home. It was 3 years ago today that the Lord blessed our home with our 3 boys. We have watched them go from scared and insecure to happy and content. They are great boys and we love them so much. We had a bigger lunch today because DH and DS1 had to work tonight. We had steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn on the cob, tomatoes, and cucumbers for our meal. It was so good. I love fresh produce. I'm soon off to bed. Mowed the grass tonight and I'm exhausted. We have 10,000 sq. ft. and 95% of it is hill so we have to push mow. It's a good work out and feels good, but my body is screaming at me. I'm so out of shape. Have a good Sunday everyone! Kathy |
 HI ALL ~ we just got home from visiting friends out in the country; we took our NIKO out so their grandson could play with him. We had a nice BBQ dinner (I had steak) too. DH has already gone to bed, but I am having a hot cocoa for my evening snack; a bit late but nice before bed.
GARY ~ glad things went so well with ANNIE at the walkathon; hope you and ANGIE have a good walk during the night. You two must be night owls, but you can sleep in a bit too. KATHY ~ we had something similar for dinner tonight; how funny (a BBQ: steak, baking potatoes, corn, salad, etc). I know that you feel so blessed to have those boys in your life, but they are blessed to have such good people to open their home and life to them also. Glad that it has all turned out so well for everyone. Prayers continue for their birth mom, KELLY too. We had :rain: and :sunny: on and off all day; and we had at least 4 or 5 RAINBOWS too. I don't think I've ever seen so many in one day before. Hope you all have a lovely, peaceful & restful Sunday tomorrow ... Rosebud :flow1: |
Hi Gals ~
Well Angie and I did the walk this morning :carrot: We took over the relay from my sister and niece, they walked midnight to 2. We got there and joined them for a few laps before they took off to go to bed. We did 6 miles and completed our 2 hour commitment at 4am when another lady from church came for her hour. The relay will finish at 9am making the 24 hours. My sister did great :carrot: she did one lap with us on our time so she could get 5 miles in  It was a lot of fun and all the money goes to a great cause. ROSEBUD...Night owls we aren't! :D I usually have to get up for work between 3-4am most days depending on how far my commute is so a 1:00 wake up was not all that hard for me...especially since I went to bed at 8:30 :D Angie stayed up until 9:30 and since she usually gets up at 5am it was harder for her but she hung in there just fine. We both took a little nap when we got home. I am sure we will get another one in after church this afternoon...I'm planning on it :D Going to late service today because it is VBS closing and my nephew is singing :) KATHY and ROSEBUD I'm coming for dinner :) |
 Positive Message for Today ...
"Who you have been is not near as important as what you choose to become ... the future allows you to become a dreamer & a visionary. You make yourself old (before your time) when your memories become more important to you than your dreams. You are as young as your dreams, and as old as your cynicism. Remember, that you are here by divine appointment; and no matter how things are going or appear ... THE KING HAS ONE MORE MOVE!!" ~ by Tony Campolo ~ |
 What a lovely day we had today -- we packed a small lunch and went out fishing with some friends for the afternoon ... and I was the only one who caught a fish! :D It was a young one about 18" long, so I set him free (catch & release) so that he can continue to grow big & strong for the future ... :)
This was a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon; but it did start to get really :hot: by late afternoon, so DH had a wee nap before dinner ... And since it was way too :hot: to cook, we picked something up for dinner, but I made a mixed salad to go along with that at home, and shared half of it with our dear Fido. :D We will be going to get new tires on our car tomorrow in preparation for our upcoming holiday in September -- we are going down south to stay at NUMPSTER's B & B for a week; and then we are supposed to be staying over at a friend's place on the way back home as well. We hope to go see some places that we have wanted to see but just didn't get a chance to before. I will let you know when we are going exactly, for we would appreciate "Traveling Angel Prayers" for the whole trip. We haven't been on a long trip like this since my mother's funeral in 1993. Hope everyone has a wonderful week coming up ... Rosebud :flow1: |
 HI THERE ~ well, we got the new tires on our car; it's nice to have them all match for a change ... and they look really nice too! DH has worked hard on his hobby to find enuff pin money to buy himself a second-hand electric bike; right now he is trying to get it to charge. So far, only got a partial charge -- turns out that it may need new batteries ... :dizzy:
We've had some more :hot: weather lately, but not too bad (only in the 80's) this time; it's much more bearable. They are predicting a bit a :rain: for tomorrow; that might  things off a bit for us. Been keeping on plan pretty well lately. Have been trying to find lighter things to eat for dinner this week, as that is when it gets the hottest here. Been resting up my legs tonight; have been retaining water lately. Hope you all are having a great week; take good care ... Rosebud :flow1: |
Rosebud got on my scales this morning, in my birthday suit, and they said I gained 3 pounds! Got to the Doc's office and they wanted to weigh me again! To my surprise with my heavy shoes and all said I lost 2 pounds!
|
:cheer2: YEAH, BOOTSIE ~ hey, that's better than what happens to me -- they try to say that our scales are off but DH weighs himself on them and it works OK for him. The nurse was not nice to me the last time they weighed me there so now I am weighing myself on my scale only. She made me weigh with my winter boots and coat on (talk about 10+lbs or more); plus clothes, of course.
When I said, "Maybe I should take my coat and boots off" ... she replied ... "Does it matter?" I said, "I b e g y o u r p a r d o n?" and then she repeated the same ignorant remark ... DAH ... this is not my usual nurse; now I'm stuck with MRS. CRABAPPLE -- all the nice ones have left the office for some reason. :?: JESUS, HELP ... :^: Anywho, despite that, the rest of our life is going well ... THANK YOU, JESUS!!! We went up town to do errands and a wee bit of shopping this AM and picked up a few deals; stuff that we can have that won't make the place too hot. Am doing some laundry right now in between posting here; then will cut up the rest of my Rhubarb for the freezer. We hope to go blueberry picking and fishing this weekend and/or next week; we usually go twice, as they are predicting cooler weather for next week. Our Summerfest & Blueberry Festival will be starting soon; they are putting up the tents and stuff right now. I am putting a small request in the Prayer Warriors thread for an old neighbour of ours; we ran into her on the main street crying her eyes out -- poor dear. Her father suddenly fell sick yesterday and died last night; and this family really relied on him for everything. They don't know what he died from so an autopsy will be done today (and once again, the doctors are suspecting an infection or virus of some kind, but the results are not in yet). They could use some prayers: the Matthews family, wife Frances, and all the kids & grandkids that were living with them ... that GOD will comfort them and help them all find their way (how to keep their home, etc). Hope you are all enjoying the last month of summer; take good care and have an Awesome August ... Rosebud :flow1: |
 HI EVERYBODY ~ hope you are all having a fabulous Friday night out there ... we had homemade wg subs for dinner tonight for our Friday Fun Food -- healthy and good for us too. I put sliced tomato and lots of lettuce on mine as well with lean meat. :D
GOOD NEWS ~ one of DH's friends came over and checked over his new electric bike; and he discovered that one of the batteries could only take a partial charge, but the other one is good. So he lent us one to try the bike out and DH went for his first "REAL" ride tonight. My, DH was so happy -- he was really concerned that he had made a big mistake, but we only have to get one battery for now. Later on, he will buy a third one to make sure he has a back-up, just in case. GOD BLESS his friend, G, for his help as it does take some mechanical and electrical know-how to figure this kind of bike out. While they were changing the battery, some boys came by and kept asking DH to sell them the bike ... so cute ... then they all had a race up the nearest hill (them on pedal bikes; and DH & G on their electric ones), leaving the boys in the wind ... ;) It was very :hot: and humid here today; so I just stayed home and did stuff indoors today with the air conditioner & de-humidifier on ... :D We are a bit spoiled and very blessed too. We are also celebrating our town's 100 year birthday this year; so they are planning lots of extra celebrations this year at the Blueberry Festival & Heritage Days & Centennial all in one. DH tried his hand at fishing in the lakes today, but no luck; but one of our town mascots did pay him a wee visit for awhile. Have a wonderful weekend, folks ... Rosebud :flow1: |
HI GALS ~
A pretty easy week-end wrapping up here. Angie has been at her sister's house, 150 miles away, since Saturday morning. She will be home tomorrow when I get home from work. The dogs and I did a couple of walks, getting in 5.5 miles and typical household chores. It was a much needed rest week-end for me. The commute of over 200 miles each day right now is taking it's toll on me....nothing new in my trade :) Church was great today, my sister and niece came so they sat with me. The sermon was on how we all are important in God's eyes and He takes the most insignificant of us (we feel) and does wonders. Rosebud I saw on the news here yesterday that the electric bikes are really going fast! Have a great week Ladies :) |
What an inspiration this thread is ... Prayer Warriors, so glad to have found it. I'm just starting my weight loss journey and I call on Jesus all the time. I've heard "He can, I can't, Let Him ... " in a 12-step program I read about. I'm going to keep that tape running in my head.
Thanks! |
Hi,Gypsy :)
He's the only one that can give you the strength to make it threw your journey.Seek him and he will give you the desires of your heart :) Good luck!!! |
:welcome: GYPSEY ~ glad you found us over here; come back often so we can get to know you better ...
 ONAMI ~ nice to see you pop by for a visit too. :) GARY ~ Yes, we really squeezed the budget this month to get it for him but it is worth it to see how much he loves it, since the old body can't take the hills like they use to. BTW, we really feel for ya having to drive that far each way back & forth to work (too bad you couldn't rent a place during the week like you did before); so sending up prayers for travel and sleep angels too ... We had some :rain: on and off all day, but that's OK as my green beans need it. I can actually see some little baby beans on them now ... finally! Plus my gladiolas are finally blooming too; these ones are much bigger than the ones I had last year, so they took longer. I didn't know that you have to pull the bulbs out and store them over the winter ... but now I do, so live and learn, as they say!;) I roasted a wee chicken for dinner with piles and piles of veggies; filled the whole roasting pan, so we have lots leftover for another meal, plus veggies for a couple other meals too. I think a nice pot of homemade soup might be nice this week as the temps are cooling off a bit ... and I don't mind one bit!!! :D Take care everyone; and have a great day tomorrow ... Rosebud :flow1: |
Rosebud do they make 3 wheel electric bikes? At my age and the way I have accidents that sounds safer for me.
|
I'm not sure about that -- it is possible that in the U.S. someone does make them. DH's is a 2 wheel and I'm like you, I would like a scooter for people with challenges. I hope to save up enuff to get one sometime. I bet if you GOOGLED that, you might just find something ... :D
We have been having a mix of :rain: & :sunny: on and off all day today; it has been a bit cooler too, so we decided to stay home and just do a big house cleaning this AM. Spent the afternoon relaxing and reading; and got some pictures of my gladiolas that are finally blooming. Will post pics as soon as they are ready. The weather people are saying things will warm up again, so we may get out to pick blueberries or get up to the lot yet this week. I realized that I'd better start getting our suitcases ready for our holiday soon. I can't believe how time is passing so fast; it is exciting but it can be a bit nerve-wracking getting prepared, so I think I'd better start now. Hope you all have a great week ... Rosebud :flow1: |
hey everyone!
What a nice thread you all have here! I love it! I'm fairly new to the forum and I'm exploring different support group forums as the days progress and what a nice little treasure you guys are here hiding at the end of the list! :) Its nice to kinda get to know yall on this thread! And I hope to be stopping by more frequently and maybe get some encouragement and good ideas from you all more often :) |
Hello
May I join? Last year life was good.. and I was working out and eating healthy. and this year. things have gone horrible.. and I am starting to gain and feel very lost.. trying to dig out of that pit.. and get back to being healthy.. I would lOve the support of people who believe in god... Thank you! |
Good morning everyone I hope that all is well! I am having a pretty good week, thankfully! I thanking god that he is giving me strenght and will power on this journey.
|
WELCOME EVERYONE!
Short on time tonight plus Angie has 11 teacher friends kicking off the new school year with their monthly BUNKO game... I need to keep an eye on my mutts... |
:welcome: BOOTS & FRIDAY ANGEL ~ we are glad that you two found us over here; yes, it is the last group on the list, but we put the LORD first in our lives. Come back often; that really helps a lot ...
HI MATILDA ~ :congrat: on your WL accomplishment so far; you have already surpassed your Labor Day challenge -- you are doing very well. You must be working really hard at it and we continue to pray for strength for you just like you asked ... :D We finally got out to our lot today; had to take some stuff out there. Even though it did :rain: while we were there for a bit, we still took out some time to relax as well. We couldn't do lawn work as it was way too wet though. Then on the way back home; guess who we see passing us on the fly ... MY DAD & STEPMOTHER ... Didn't get to chat with them, but they were probably quite tired from the long trip anyways. Our silly car was acting up on us again; the gas fumes came back like a proverbial bug, so DH is gonna take it to a garage tomorrow to see if we need new gas lines. Don't want to go through that on a long trip ... I will praise GOD anyways, as it is better to happen now than then. Hope that is all it is and won't cost us too much. Have a great Thursday everyone ... Rosebud :flow1: |
Thank you for the welcome..
I need to lose about 35 lbs.. I lost some weight last year.. but this year its been not a good year.. all the way around.. and the past few moths, I can feel God is pushing me or reminding me hes there for me..and i need to lean on him..So thats how i found myself back here.. I need to start eating healthy and walking again.. thanks for the support! |
May I ask what kinda of food plans/ and excerise everyone is doing?
Ive tried everything.. not sure what i will try next... But it has to be cheap because im Broke! |
I'm still nursing my two youngest kids, (10 months and 2 years) so I just count calories and loosely add in ~500, so I'm doing about 1900 calories per day. (I'm really surprised at how much food this is! and yet still I'm losing weight! but the breastfeeding uses them up, I went lower for a few weeks and my milk supply dropped)
I try to eat semi-healthy, cheap and yet foods that store well because I'm so busy. So I add hardboiled eggs, cottage cheese, soy milk, 2x a week a whole-grained pasta, frozen vegetables and potatoes (both white and sweet). I rarely do pasta or fatty meats. I try to still eat like a diabetic and go low carb because I will have diabetes one day, I get gestational diabetes with pregnancy so its just a given in my life. If I learn to deal with it while I'm young I think I'll live a longer, healthier and happy life! I'm surprised at how easy the kids eat foods that other people would think are bland, as I've stopped adding butter or salt to anything, but kids really adapt so well and if you're not brought up on it they think thats just fine the way it is! I can't do very much "fresh" vegetable wise, and only do apples and bananas for fresh fruits. If I get anything else it inevitably spoils, so we have to do frozen broccoli and stuff. I work and teach full time at a university, I'm in the last year of a PhD program, and I have three kids under the age of the five! My life...is crazy. But I need to focus some on my health for a change if I'm going to have the energy to see this through this year! |
I am on a low carb diet and I take 1 Tablespoon of olive oil a day, 1 flax and try to include fish in my diet each day if not one salmon oil capsule. This is the first year of since they started checking my cholesterol I don't need to take medicine or go on a diet for it, and I am 57! If I could stop having accidents I would feel great!
I am changing this to counting calories, can not stay on a carb diet with my hubbie around impossible! |
Hello everyone! I just got this in an email and I just had to come right here to share it with you! I had never seen it before and I thought that it was just WONDERFUL!!! We're doing fine here-- My son found a job at a restaurant cooking and started today!! And his girlfriend stopped in at Pizza Hut a few weeks ago and they started her yesterday and are training her to be a manager! Praise the Lord!! I just knew if I could get him back here from Florida that they would be able to get things going and hopefully get on their feet!! Sure did a lot of praying about it and I am so happy!!! He was kind of surprised that Mom may know what she is talking about after all!!
Everyone have a great night and I will try to get back here more often... needless to say things are a little hectic around here right now... but I'm loving it! AIN'T He was just a little boy, On a week's first day. Wandering home from Bible school, And dawdling on the way. He scuffed his shoes into the grass; He even found a caterpillar. He found a fluffy milkweed pod And blew out all the 'filler.' A bird's nest in a tree overhead, So wisely placed up so high. Was just another wonder, That caught his eager eye. A neighbor watched his zigzag course, And hailed him from the lawn; Asked him where he'd been that day And what was going on. 'I've been to Bible School ,' He said and turned a piece of sod. He picked up a wiggly worm replying, 'I've learned a lot about God.' 'M'm, very fine way,' the neighbor said, 'for a boy to spend his time.' 'If you'll tell me where God is, I'll give you a brand new dime.' Quick as a flash the answer came! Nor were his accents faint. 'I'll give you a dollar, Mister, If you can tell me where God ain't.' Have a great day Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil......it has no point. |
Love it Karen and so true! It reminds me of the show Art Linkletter had on TV and the book Kids say the Darn est things! I wish they still had that show on TV, even the reruns would be nice!
That is wonderful about your son's new job and your daughter in laws! Is not it wonderful how God works in our lives when he knows we are really trying, other doors and windows of opportunity just seem to open up when you least expect it. I pray for others more doors and opportunities open up for all that are really trying, just never stop, just never give up and do the best you can do and don't be afraid to go that extra mile. God loves all of you. |
Friday here is a web site I find helpful also.
http://www.whfoods.com/ they tell about healthy foods that don't cost a bundle that is good for you ,keeping yourself healthy |
so, I have come to this tread looking for support.
I grew up in a christian family, I do believe in God, and when I was a kid and well into my teens I enjoyed the summer at a christian camp. Somehow three years ago I have seemed to have lost my way. i no longer go to church, (I have moved away from my hometown and have stopped going since the move) I no longer read my bible, nor do I pray. right now I live with my boyfriend of almost two years, and he has asked me to marry him, which I said yes, but I'm not sure. I think about my ex all the time, but I'm not too sure I want to be with him or not, I think its more of a I need closure thing, I don't know. and I still get crushes on other guys, like I like and am attracted to other boys and I think I'm too young, but I feel like a horrible person for living without being married. am i a bad person? am I a horrible christian? I'm so afraid I'm going to be left behind or go to ****, as my mother tells me often God is coming soon. |
Mickey, to me no one has the right to judge you, don't think you will find that here. and you know, growing up as a Christian , there is only one perfect in this world and that is Jesus Christ. My favorite song is Amazing grace and years ago at 17 I to was lost, looking for answers. I just sit down and had a heart to heart with Jesus and asked him to help me to show me the way. He loved me Mickey when no one else did and he loves you too. I read my Bible a-lot, still do ,when I come to pot holes in my life or just see what he opens my eyes too, when I have read it so many times, don't remember that passage being there. So much like the amazing grace, once was blind but now I see. Jesus does that a-lot when I read the Bible. None of us has the answers for you, the answer to do or not to do, lies within your heart. Praying for you tonight, Mickey
