Default Daily Devotion 6/7

I was not able to find out why the Mid-Week Boost has stopped, but I have not seen the two people that do most of it at church for 2 weeks, they may be on vacation. We had our annual Congregational meeting today, toured the new building and saw the progress...still several months off...did see the room they picked out for Angie's yoga and I had to look at some classrooms to see some problems we are having with concrete settling that has caused drywall damage I need to repair.

Anyway, I thought, for now I will post the Daily Devotion from our Synod website for those that wish to view it.

May God Bless all of you ~ Gary

-------------------------------------------------------

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy. Philippians 1:3-4

A reader of the Daily Devotions once sent me a clipping from the ad section of the University of Southern Illinois student newspaper. The advertisement read, "Sweet little old lady wishes to correspond with a six-foot student with brown eyes. He should answer to the initials J.H. - Signed, His Mother."

All of us know that when you're at school, involved with a job, a family, or the hundreds of other things that take over and monopolize our days and lives, it's very easy to forget the people who have loved us so much and for so long.

Indeed, it's even easy to let stuff shove God out of our lives.

That's really tragic, because these special people shouldn't be forgotten. We, and they, should always know we are thankful for all their efforts on our behalf.

Now, I'm not sure if "J.H." ever wrote to his mom, but I know I'm going to take some time this week to thank those people who have helped me.

Of course, my family ought to be praised, as well as a couple of teachers who said the right things to me when I was in school. And my list would be terribly incomplete if I didn't show my appreciation to my Father in heaven.

Through the sending of His Son, for the sacrifice He has made, for the ongoing efforts of the Holy Spirit, He has done more for me than anyone else.

And by the way, I'm thankful for you, too.

From a devotion originally written for "By the Way"

THE PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for those special loved ones You have brought into my life. I thank You especially for those in my life who are a reflection of You. Help me to also be a vessel of Your mighty love. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

THANKS GARY ~ for taking the time out of your very busy life to put this in for all of us. I try to keep GOD and JESUS as the #1 focus each day, as like you, there has been no-one else who has done as much for me in my life than they have.

And I have always asked GOD to bless those dear persons who shaped my life from birth, especially a wonderful minister (Mr. Snelgrove) who was my spiritual mentor from infancy until 10 or 11 y/o; he was an amazingly positive true believer in JESUS and always emphasized his sermons around GOD's love and mercy and grace ... and I can still remember his loving face today!

I had some special Christian teachers along the way too; and my parents both worked hard to support a very large family that had a lot of illnesses. Both of my grandmothers were positive influences in my life too (and both were praying Christians too), and I miss them a lot.

THANKFULNESS and GRATEFULNESS are not far from my mind when I think of all these people that I believe GOD put into my life for a very good reason ...
