Iris, I hope you find a church soon! I will keep you in my prayers. Finding the right church home is so important. I encourage you to go, even if it is uncomfortable. A church should make you feel welcomed and loved!!!
Sunshine - I'm with you on the eating thing. I have found that eating fruits, veggies, nuts, whole grains, and enough protein are really important for me. I purged the house of the "junk". And now, I don't crave it - even if I am out and about. Clean eating leads to more clean eating. Try to stick with it for a few days in a row, and your desire to eat less healthy foods will diminish :) Rosebud - prayers continuing for your housing situation. Gary - :D - 172 is AWESOME - especially with so much travel for work. Sounds like you have figured out what will work for you when working away from home. We sure miss you when you are gone - glad to have you back with us this weekend!!! Ronni - congrats to your sister on her run. That is awesome! I couldn't WALK a marathon, let alone run one!!! I'm off to church again in a bit. We have our annual hymn sing tonight. Two local doctors play the piano and organ, start with a concert and then the congregation picks their favorite hymns to sing. I run the PowerPoint, and DH runs the sound, so we need to get there early to set up. It is always a wonderful night! We attend the "early" church service which only has about 80 folk most weeks. Thus, singing just isn't the same as when you have every pew filled! I'm looking forward to a very meaningful night of praise and worship!!! Blessings to all! Prayers continuing for each of you and your families! Laurie |
Health Update: Many of you know that I received that dreaded cancer diagnosis early in September this year. I am feeling quite well, all things considered. My breast cancer has metastasized mostly to the bone and a few other places. I am now on hormonal therapy (anti-estrogen) . I feel very calm and at peace which can only be from God.
"And the peace of God , which passeth all understanding , shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" . Phillipians 4:7 |
I am glad you are feeling comforted in this trying time for you BARGOO...continued hugs and prayers!
|
Bargoo - what an uplifting post! You are an inspiration to everyone around you! You continue to be in my prayers. Thanks for taking the time to update us and continue posting here at 3FC. Each time I read one of your responses to someone struggling, I think about how selfless you are - helping others :)
|
Bargoo that reminds me of another scripture - You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you - Isaiah 26:3 God bless you as you walk through this! Hope everyone has an awesome week filled with Gods blessings and strength!

 HELLO EVERYONE ~ we had a great THANKSGIVING WEEKEND; went out to a friend's place for turkey dinner and games yesterday, and I cooked a turkey with homemade pumpkin pie for DH, and pumpkin custard for me today (boy, that's an all day project). Everything turned out great and we have lots left over for tomorrow; just heat and serve, so I can rest a bit.
We're still looking for a place; sending out feelers and going to look at places. Dh says we're spending a fortune just driving all over the place looking with little results; but I said we can just look at it as an outing. Hope to look at a couple more places this week too. BARGOO ~ so glad that you are feeling well and peaceful during this ordeal. The Lord has a way of helping us through tough times. John 14:18 ~ Jesus said, "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." What a lovely promise; and this is too ~ Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world gives ... (so) let not your heart be troubled; neither let it be afraid." GARY ~ glad you have some work for awhile; the husband of where we went for dinner last night has been layed off his job again (now only working one day a week); that means two big employers will be closed again this winter. So, we are praying that they will find some alternative work in the meantime. THANKS COUNTING ~ trying to focus on GOD and each day, so as to not worry too much. Encouraging DH to keep as busy as possible too; so he won't fret. HI TO IRIS WHISPERS, RAY OF SUNSHINE, RONNI ... have a great evening. Hope all our friends and MIA's are having a great weekend! Take good care of yourselves, your fellow encourager :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: ^^PRAYERS^^ ascending for you and yours ... |
A quick fly-by to say hello. Church meetings tonight and tomorrow night have me hopping! Being the lay leader means sitting on 6 committees :yikes:
Sunshine - thanks for the scripture! It is one of my favorites!!! Rosebud :D - you always see the glass as half-full. And - I relate to keeping DH busy so he doesn't fret. Sometimes that can be harder than anything  I hope everyone had a good start to the week! Blessing to all and prayers continuing for you and your families! |
Hello, I joined this group this morning and just now had the chance to really look around. This appears to be the group I need to be in. I am a late forties (when did that happen) young at heart born again- choir member, bible study leader and all around can't say no person. I live with my husband of 25 years this year!!!! a daughter who graduated college and is now a new teacher, my son just started his first year at college. What a year for changes. One look in the "primping" mirror at church on Sunday sent me to looking for changes.
I look forward to getting to know all of you and adding my Oklahoma common sense and tactless attitude. Karin |
Karin, welcome and good luck!
|
Karin - :welcome: Glad to have you posting here. It is a GREAT place with many, many wonderful folk!
I'm an empty nester with the youngest back home :yikes: now and trying to make the best of it. Seriously, this forum is GREAT, and everyone here is so encouraging. I couldn't have made my goal without each of thes wonderful Christian chicks (um, and our resident rooster as well) |
Hello, Everyone!
Karin - :welcome2: This is a great place for support and info. We love to have new people to talk to! Bargoo - you are such an inspiration! I pray for you daily. So glad to hear that you are able to feel God's peace even in these circumstances. Iris-It's hard to find new churches-it's happened to us several times now, but God always leads us to the place He wants us to be. You're in my prayers:hug: Counting - you're so busy! And so faithful in the work God has for you. Thank you for the prayers and support for my family's issues. It really means alot to know there are others out there who will lift us up in prayer every now and again. Rosebud - ditto what I said to Counting about the support and prayers. I'm still praying for your housing. I know God has something special waiting for you. Hard to keep those DH's busy enough to not worry, though, isn't it? Sounds like you had a very nice Thanksgiving up there! Wilma-thanks for the prayers. Those pies for your Thanksgiving sure sounded good! My mom made an apple pie for my b-day last week, but I was good and just had little small pieces whenever I had the urge! Hope you enjoyed your celebration and time with family! Gary - sounds like you enjoyed your time home and glad the out-of-town stuff will be ending soon. Thanks for all your support and prayers too. I've finally made a mini-goal by reaching the 220's! I hadn't seen 229 in over a decade, so I'm very happy about it! I just can't believe how easy it's been now that I have learned so much from everyone here at 3fc. I can also feel God helping me by taking away cravings for the unhealthy stuff I used to eat. DS2's football game was canceled last night, so he was bummed, but it would have been really cold sitting there in the rain and only 48 degrees! I'm hoping they can work something out to play another reserve game before season ends, but he got to play a few minutes in the varsity game Friday, so he may get more time there as well. Apparently, the team will be going to play-offs, so there'll be more practices and play time for everyone! DS3 has appointments with 3 docs lined up for Thursday, so that'll be a long day- have to leave home by 5:45 am to get there in time:eek: He's not a morning person! You all have a great day! |
Hey everyone! Hope you are all having a great week! I am feeling a little under the weather. For some reason it makes everything just a little harder. I really have hardly had anything to eat ( I am trying to break this habit) nothing sounds good lately. What do you do when you know you need to eat healthy but nothing sounds good ... and by the time you eat you find yourself with a few handfuls of goldfish? Thats my biggest problem not eating and then when I do its nothing good for me... any ideas?? Well hope you're all enjoying your day! God Bless - Rachel
|
Rachel - buy WW golfish  I actually work goldfish into my plan sometimes because I really like them.
Your question is a good one. I try to keep healthy snack prepared and ready to go. Instead of grabbing goldfish, have cut veggies, nuts, protein bars, smoothie ingredients, string cheese, fresh fruit, V8 juice, Laughing Cow cheeese, healthy crackers or tortillas, high protein cereal, light popcorn, etc. readily available. In the beginning I actually posted snack ideas on the refrigerator door to remind me to grab them instead of the usual "go to" foods. I also eat before I get too hungry. I try to eat small meals every few hours. Yogurt, protein bars, any of the above listed items - something easy to eat that has protein in it. This keeps me from grazing on the other stuff. Of course, since my kids are grown, I can banish things like chips from the house :) Ronni - 31 lbs!!!!!:congrat: Wonderful news!!!!! You are doing GREAT! We are proud of you! Hope everyone had a blessed day! I'm trying to get caught up at work so I worked an 11 hour day today, then chaired our Administrative Council meeting at church. Not much time for much else tonight I'm afraid. Oh, well - some days are like that. Prayers continuing for each of you! Have a GREAT Wednesday. |
 HI EVERYONE ... Had a lovely day voting, shopping, lunching, and more shopping; now I'm exhausted ... lol!
COUNTING ~ I am convinced that you are SUPERWOMAN!!! Working long hours, chairing meetings, and coming in here to post, and cheer us all on ... :wel3fc: KARIN ~ this is a great group with lots of ideas and support. CONGRATS RONNI ~ you are doing great! Prayers for your trip on Thursday ... RAY of SUNSHINE ~ I think COUNTING's idea was fantastic; she's got a quick mind, don't you think? You can get those goldfish in cheese flavor now too. HEY BARGOO ~ have a great day! Prayers continue ... Hope everyone has a great week! Take good care, your fellow encourager :hug:ROSEBUD  ^^PRAYERS^^ rising for you and yours ... |
Just like Rosebud I had a great Thanksgiving also. Met with family and ate turkey. Monday I felt really tired and laid around most of the day. Not like me these days. Tuesday morning I woke up all achey. I feel much better this morning. I did try to exercise on Monday a bit - maybe 20 minutes but nothing yesterday. Tonight I have to get my house cleaned as we're getting company tomorrow night. I am so looking forward to having my sis visit.
I wish I had more time to post but I have to get moving here. busy day at work. I do pray for the concerns here - especially Rosebud and Bargoo. Also, a big welcome to Karin. Have a great day! |
