Hi, All!
Trish and Rosebud - thanks for the advice for DS2 on running. He'll be doing steps 2 or 3 at a time from now on to stretch out those hamstrings! I talked to his coach yesterday and learned that, even though DS is slow, the coach is very impressed at his commitment and perseverance. Coach actually thought he'd quit within the 1st week! We taught him to go for what you want and stick with it even when it's tougher than you had envisioned. Guess he really was listening:) Well, we got the results from DS3's CT. They're not sure if it's causing the side pain or leg pain, but he has a couple spinal abnormalities-spondylosis and spina bifida occulta. They are sending his records to a neurosurgeon to review and we'll probably have to take him there in a few weeks (it's at Mayo Clinic in MN). Apparently, the sbo is quite common, but only causes problems in a very few people. But, if they determine that's what is causing his pain, they'll probably have to do surgery to close the area around the spinal cord and protect the nerves. I'll be doing a lot more research on this-right now we're just kind of in shock. I guess it's a good thing we didn't allow him to do football also this year. Just keep him in your prayers, please. I know I have to let God control this because it scares me to death. Raining this morning, but that seems appropriate right now. But, I must get working on the budget and it'll be time to run DS2 to the school before I even know it! Take care, everyone! Have a good day no matter what comes your way:hug: |
I'm trying to learn who everyone is and it's hard, lol.
ShyMoment, what kind of camping do you do? We have an RV that we keep on a seasonal site and really love it. Counting, thanks a bunch! LOL Ronni, saying a prayer for your son and the doctors involved. I was down another half pound this morning, but I only weighed today because I felt like I had a 'window' with my digestion. I'll wait til next time to update the ticker. :) A lot of our friends are doing Weight Watchers right now, which is really helpful to us. Even though we aren't using WW, it's great that when we all get together, everyone is being health conscious and making healthier dishes. And I'm really satisfied with myself, lol, because I have lost about the same amount as my BFF and I'm doing it for free. (I'll be good and not make that point to her though.) Now if I could just get DH on board. He wants to lose weight too but isn't making any efforts. Yesterday he brought home soft pretzels. I ate half of one and left the rest, so that was good, but... then I looked up their nutritional info online and found I had eaten 180 calories! I won't make that mistake again on something so small! For 180 calories I could have had something way more filling! |
Good Evening Encouragers
My kids are fighting like crazy and driving me nuts as I type, I think the worst one is the 17 yr. old. Calgon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been trying to count calories, did I already tell you that? I can't keep straight what day it is let alone try to remember what I've posted. Anyhoo, its very time consuming but it is helping me to be more mindful of what I put in my mouth and what quality calories are. Had jail devotions today, I love going in there. The women are really starting to participate and I definitely feel like God is using us in Big ways. ronni, prayers for DS. inky, honey I've had 5 kids c-section, I know all about them "digestion" issues, and they are no fun, no fun at all. Gary, HI!!, so glad you got to "escape" for a few minutes. Counting, Shy, Justwant, HI!, I love you guys and your neverending support and devotion to all of us . Gotta run, literally. Later, Trish |
CC
You really can make calorie counting less time consuming by setting up something like fit day. Yes, it does take time to put everything you eat into it at first. After that you just click on what you are going to eat tomorrow and away you go. Doesn't take any time at all. I try to help. I know this journey we are all on isn't always easy. Inky There is an camper that Mon and Dad use but we use a tent and a blow up mattress ( hey I am not as young as I use to be ) lol. I don't like the camper because they freeze me out of there lol. Those soft pretzels aren't really all that bad lol. But then I don't watch calories as much as I watch carbs and fat. I have found I can eat the required amounts of the four basic food groups each day and eat the things I like and still need to eat and eat to have enough calories in most of the time. Calories are the least of my worries its the yummmmmmy carbs that I have to watch out for lol. Nice going on the loss, any loss is a good loss. Maybe try doing a weigh in every couple of weeks. You do want to keep yourself accountable but you don't want that darn scale to run your life. Pay attention to how your clothes fit. Clothes are a great indicator of how we are doing. Ronni Sometimes all we can do is do what we can and let God handle the rest. God is much better at handling things than we are. I will keep you all in my prayers. Counting It is just taking me so long to get anything done lol. Never realize how many times you go up and down the stairs until the knee just doesn't want to go up and down with you lol. I am sure I heard one knee talking to the other last night as I was driffing off to sleep and one said " You can do it, " and the other said, "Why doesn't she just leave me at the bottom of the stairs until she comes back down." lol. Three days, no kids, no house no anyone bothering me. I get to sit and read a book, do my hook rug and enjoy the not being bothered, I can't wait. |
 HELLO EVERYONE ~ had a lovely sunny day with lots of sunshine. We spent a couple of hours this morning in our garden picking more beans; couldn't believe that we got a 3-4 gallon pail of mixed beans ... way more than we expected to get. The drums and this newer garden turned out very well. Then I spent about an hour just watering and filling pails etc ...
This afternoon, I did dome mending and baked some low-fat bran and fruit muffins to give me something different for my breakfasts. I'm one who can get bored with the same old - same old, so I have to change things up a bit now and then. HI RONNI ~ I was also born with Spina Bifida: not sure of all the different forms and their names. I had a couple of surgeries as a child: one was an exploratory with skin graftings, and the other was to remove a benign lump; unfortuneately, they were not curative procedures by any means. How interesting that they didn't detect this until now; I also started having back pain at age 11 and again at 20 y/o, but at that time, it just never left. I have always had the hardest time walking in sand, snow, and up hills; plus with bending and lifting (which I'm not supposed to do: by doctor's orders). Will pray for your DS and his doctors, and for you and your DH, for the Lord's guidance and help in this matter. I also agree with SHY, put your whole trust in GOD and He will direct your path ... TRISH ~ ah thanks, it's no problem: we all like to help and encourage others whenever we can; and we are just trying to do what our Lord asked us to do really. You are also doing a wonderful work with your lady friends at the prison; I'm sure those ladies appreciate your support more than anyone could ever imagine. As you know, the Lord was very concerned about those in prisons; he gave more than one directive about supporting them. HELLO TO INKYMAMA, GARY, COUNTING, SHY, as well as all our other friends and MIA's ... Well, I still have some more beans to put up in baggies for the freezer; gotta go finish them off before bed. Take good care and have a great evening; your fellow encourager :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: ^^PRAYERS^^ continue for you and yours ... |
Hi all, not much time tonight :( But, I did read everyone's posts and you are all in my prayers. Gotta get the services created for Sunday before I fly out early Fri. for TN. I won't have Internet while I am gone. So, if I'm not back before Tues., I WILL be praying for each of you!
Blessings! Laurie |
Have a safe trip SCOOTER
No time tonight...you are all in my prayers...will catch up when I get home for the week-end! RONNIE....practice-practice! for the boy....having 4 kids in sports from t-ball through college I can say once again...practice! |
I posted in another forum about a problem of facial numbness and the feeling of pins and needles in the face. My doctor sent me to a neurologist who has scheduled me for a bone scan, which I will have tomorrow. I can use prayers for a positive outcome of the bone scan. Depending on the results of the scan I may have an MRI as well.

Hi Everyone
I want to thank you again for your prayers. God is SO Good! Our leak was just a minor problem with the bedroom window..nothing that a $3 tube of caulking can't fix. Everything is dry, and there doesn't appear to be any serious damage. :carrot: My DH will be working to get the window fixed on his day off. It's looks like we have a LONG hurricane season ahead! :fr:
Ronni: I'm praying that God will give the doctors wisdom in how to treat your son, and that He'll give you peace and assurance. :) Counting: Have a safe trip! :) JW2BH: Your garden sounds wonderful! :carrot::broc: I'm glad God is blessing you with a good harvest! :) CC Mom: As the mom of a former prison inmate, I know how much your presence at that jail means to those ladies. God bless you as you serve Him! Inky: I started WW a few years ago. I can't drive due to probs w/my right leg, so my DH brought me to meetings. After about 6 months, he decided to join in. My weight loss has stalled-DH has lost almost 100 pounds. :) Sometimes I feel like I should be on that commercial (Slimquick?) where everyone but the wife loses weight! Shy: I'm praying for your son. :) I'm sorry if I missed anyone, and I hope everyone is having a blessed day. :grouphug: |
Bargoo - prayers ascending! Let us know how it goes!
|
BARGOO ~ have sent up prayers for you already ...
COUNTING ~ sending up prayers for your trip home too. Hope everyone else has a wonderful evening too ... ^^PRAYERS^^ continue for everyone; take good care, :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hello everyone!
So much going on in this therad! :grouphug: Just checking in real quick to say may the Lord's will be done ..."And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose." (Romans 8:28) Take care everyone! |
Thanks for the prayers and support! DS3's appt with Mayo docs is 9/16, so just on hold until then. Prayers out for Bargoo, Counting, and everyone else. God is so good and I know He'll work in all of us and for all of us in whatever needs we have. Hebrews 11:1 says, "Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see."
I know I need work in this area of faith in ALL situations, but I know God is working with me. I let myself get out of control with eating after all the stresses of the last couple weeks, but God has helped me get back on track without gaining back everything I had lost! Thanks to Him, because I sure couldn't have done it myself:no: Thanks to all of you on 3fc also. This forum gives me a place to come and focus on others and get out of my pity party. Sure am glad you're here! Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend! Football night tonight, of course, then may go away for a couple days-kind of an escape, except it will involve visiting the m-i-l:lol: Really, she's not that bad, but just a horrible housekeeper:yikes: Everyone enjoy what's left of summer! |
Good morning everyone! I am new to this forum. I've been on the board about a month and getting great support for the specific diet I am following but wanted to find a faith-based support thread because that is so key to my life. Glad I found you and looking forward to getting to know everyone.
