Praise God!

Thank you all so much for your prayers! "Fickle Fay" has finally left (at least this part of the world :dizzy:). Thank you for your prayers! I'm sitting here at my computer, trying to keep away from the wet areas on the rug  We didn't have a flood..just a case of shoddy construction! We own half a duplex. We've been here for 2 years and this is the first major storm we've had. The damage isn't substantial, but if we don't get it fixed promptly, we could have serious problems with mold. :p I don't know if our insurance will cover it, or if we'll have to take legal action against the builder :fr:, but my DAD owns the cattle on a thousand hills..he's got us covered! :) Counting: I'm glad you survived your procedure. The prep is horrible :p, but the procedure is easy..all those good drugs! :dizzy:

CC Mom: I've been enjoying the Olympics too. Did you know that the young man who leading in the Decathalon is a Christian? It would be such a blessing to hear someone giving God the glory for their win!

Shy: I'm so sorry to hear about your son :( There are many schools who will accept students with special needs. I pray that the Lord will help you find His will for your son.

Inky:  It's frustrating when the scale won't move! Don't get discouraged..it's great that you're taking charge of your health while you're young. I've been morbidly obese for too many years..I wish I'd been committed to losing weight while I was young :)

Ronni: I'm sorry to hear about your back problems. I had a 'catastrophic' disc rupture at L 4-5 over 7 years ago. I have the tingling/numbness, as well as the bladder issues :o. I had very little function left in my right leg, but Praise God for a great PT. My right leg is still partially paralyzed, but I'm so much better than I was right after my surgery. I pray that God will give your doctors wisdom on how to treat you.

Gary: Nice to 'see' you again. How are your Dodgers doing? My Red Sox are doing great..I just wish those RAYS   weren't!

Wishing everyone a blessed day (early!) :grouphug:

HELLO EVERYONE ~ nice to see so many postings lately; lots of reading, but that's OK.

:wel3fc: to all the NEWBIES and RETURNEES like ANN and JOANNE and GARY ...

HI GARY ~ nice to see you're back home for a short visit and you even found time to drop in here too!

ANN ~ you have done very well so far, and you should be very proud of yourself. :congrat: on your wonderful achievement!!!

JOANNE ~ glad to see that you have returned to 3FC's (well, you were still here really); and that despite some setbacks, you have continued the race, just like many others of us who have physical challenges to overcome in this journey; prayers going up for the weather problems in the southern states ...

HI SHY ~ you are doing great; sometimes life is an UPHILL battle but you are hanging in there fine!

TRISH ~ lots of land there to jog around and good for you involving your kiddies too; you are setting a wonderful example for them.

COUNTING ~ thanks for all your prayers and encouragement; we all appreciate YOU being here too!!!

RONNIE ~ yes, it would be so nice if GOD could send us a note to tell us what His plan was for our lives and those of our loved ones; although he did tell us a bit of what His will is in His Word. I find that GOD gives me hints now and then, using His Word when I do my daily devotions and readings i.e. I read a Psalm every day and do 1-3 daily short devotions in the morning and evening as I have time. My devotions only take about 1-2 minutes each; they start with a scripture and have a short message and a prayer at the end. I find this so handy.

ANYWAYS, HELLO TO ALL OUR OTHER FRIENDS AND MIA's ~ who are probably really busy and/or away on trips like WILMA, SUE, KAREN, and others; hope you are all well ...

Take good care; have a great weekend ~ your fellow encourager  ROSEBUD  ^^PRAYERS^^ continue for you and yours, and all special requests too ...

Hi everyone!

Wow! Wow! Lots of posts since I was on here last!

CandyKisses, yes, I've peeked at the calorie counting forum and said hello. I need to spend some more time in there!

Calorie counting is going well for me. Today is day 6 and so far so good! I weighed myself this morning and I couldn't believe it, I've made my August goal!!! :dancer: (Now if I can just keep this going!)

CCmomof5, sorry to hear about your troubles. Just keep trusting that God is in control! His ways are not our ways.

Hi RoyalAthena, nice to meet you! You will definitely find the kind of support you are looking for here!

SteppingOut, Glad you are OK and that the damage was minimal!

Hope you're doing OK today, ronni62. :)

And "Hello" to everyone I haven't mentioned! Hope you're having a great day! :sunny:

CountingDown 08-23-2008 07:16 PM

Blue - :woohoo: Way to go!!!! I love calorie counting, and the really cool thing is that you don't gain weight once you reach goal, you have learned how to eat normal foods in the right quantities :D

Rosebud - I love reading Psalms each day too. I have the audio Bible on my mp3 player. Listening first thing each morning gives me such comfort and grounding for the day :D

Joanne - Your attitude is admirable! I hope the cleanup is not too difficult or expensive. You are in my prayers!
Trish - Oh, yes - I understand academy appointments. My brother went to the Coast Guard Academy and my boss's son went to the Air Force Academy. Good idea to start now - my experience is - it will take that long.
You continue to be in my prayers.

Gary - we sure missed you! So glad to see you weight is holding below 170. That is awesome! You must have made some terrific choices while you were away. Angie must be really proud of you too! I bet the dogs (and Angie) were incredibly happy to see you back home. Thanks for sharing your precious moments home with us :)

Busy day here - things are not going well on the SF front. Mom had to move him to a rehab facility, and things are falling apart fast. I've spent the day arranging what I can from afar, and booked a flight to TN for next weekend. Thankfully, I have a 4 day respite from work. But, it will be a whirlwind trip. Prayers are appreciated.

Hope you all have a blessed Sunday! Prayers continuing for all!

CCmomof5 08-23-2008 08:10 PM

Hi

Hope everyone is having a beautiful Sat. evening, its ooohh so hot and humid here right now. So good to see all the posts and everyone so full of encouragement and inspiration, how have I ever made it without you people.

counting, prayer for you and the SF situation, try to at least enjoy some of the quiet on the flight.

Blue, :bravo: on the loss. I just started counting calories again but its sooooo time consuming. I'm afraid I'll burn out, but so far so good.

Stepping, I saw the end of the Decathalon last night, I guess I missed that he was a Christ follower, but Thats Awesome!! Still praying for all of you down there.

Thats all for me tonight, off to watch Oklahoma with little Miss. Have a fantastic Sunday!!

Trish

Justwant2Bhealthy 08-23-2008 09:45 PM

Not going to catch up until next week! Sorry.

COURTNEY we had our family get together today....27 people...played corn hole! everyone had a great time! Now they want a shuffleboard tournament and a corn hole tournament!

Outta town 'til way late Thursday...Prayers and God Bless ~ Gary

ronni62 08-25-2008 08:59 AM

Hello! Hope everyone else is having as nice weather as we are-gets the week started in a positive way!

Countingdown - glad your test went ok! Prayers for your SF and family. It's hard to live a distance away when your assistance is needed. Hugs for you:hug:

Joanne- glad you come through Fay safely-now prayers for a quick clean-up!

BlueSerenity - congrats on meeting your Aug. goal already! I'm glad calorie counting is working for you. I've done that before, but always had problems-I always ended up feeling like a slave to the numbers, but may have been trying to eat too few calories. Since I've not been doing as well as I'd like lately, I may try counting calories again with a more realistic daily requirement. Keep up the good work!

Gary - I know you're gone already again, but I'll keep you and Angie in my prayers while you're away. Traveling for work is always hard-I did it for a few years myself, but now with the family, I'm glad to be a stay-at-home!

Like I already said, we're having great weather! But, it seems as if it's fall already, cool at night, the garden's dying down so soon, and it just feels like autumn. Hard to believe it'll be winter again soon (yuck!). Cooking up some stewed tomatoes again to freeze this am before we have to leave for DS2's chemistry class and my PT. Then we'll have the day free (for the homeschool part of the day) until he has football practice. Preview night went well, except for a slightly sprained ankle. He's icing it, but may not be able to run tonight, so he'll be doing extra sit-ups and push-ups! If anyone has any pointers for him on how to run better and faster, please share them. He's definitely not a sprinter and I can see he struggles with stride (steps are too short and he hunches over), but not sure how to fix it. He has flat feet, too, so maybe that's part of the problem?

DS3 had to have a CT of upper abdomen on Thursday and we're still waiting for results. He's been having pain in the side for several weeks, but we thought it was just a pulled muscle. Why can't they yet make the contrast for that procedure something more palatable-he spent the day drinking and running to the sink just in case it came back up. Glad that's over and hoping they find out what's wrong.

Praying for a great day for all of you! It's nice to see so many new people and all of the inspiring 'old' ones as well! Hugs to you all:hug::hug::hug:

hi

Getting ready to head north with DD for another Dr. appt., so not much time. It felt great here this morning when I got up to take the dogs out, I just wish we could get some rain the leaves are already starting to fall and its not even Sept. yet. It is waaaaay too dry.

ronni, good way for kids to learn to stride better is to have then run on train tracks (every other one) also, climb stairs (every other one also). We had to do that with DD, when her strides got short and choppy, but of course her leg was the reason she started doing that. Some ankle warm up (rolling foot, flexing, standing on ball of one foot) will also help to keep his ankles strong and prevent further injury once he is well. If you have a Theraband you can wrap it around a bed post and he can do ankle exercises, that is an awesome way to strengthen the ankle. Hope you get favorable results back on DS3.

Gotta get going, have a blessed day! Trish

HELLO EVERYONE ~ we are having a gorgeous day here, sunshine with a cool breeze, almost perfect weather really. Picked some more beans from our garden drums today after we came home from a day shopping and errands ...

TRISH ~ prayers that DD is healing well and feeling better; have a wonderful week!!!

HI GARY ~ it will take another week to read all these posts ... LOL; that's nice that you are able to come back sooner this time. That Cornhole game sounds fun; have a great week!!!

RONNI ~ prayers gone up for DS3 that the doctors can figure out what's causing the pain, so they can help him. Good ideas there from TRISH about the running; I used to jog a bit when I was much younger. The best idea I have heard of is up and down the stairs in between bleachers at a football field or in a gymnasium or stadium; it's a very safe place to practice too!

Hope all our friends and MIA's are enjoying their last week of summer!!!

Take good care all; your fellow encourager :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: ^^PRAYERS^^ continue for you and yours ...

CountingDown 08-25-2008 07:55 PM

Hi all - a quick fly-by. Work is crazy this week with all the staff coming back to school. I barely had time to go to the bathroom  The weather is gorgeous here today, so I am off to work in the garden.

Prayers continuing for all!

Shy Moment 08-25-2008 08:26 PM

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Getting things done around here so I have everything ready for our camping trip this coming weekend. Taking me more time to get things done than I would like but things are getting done. We are still looking at different ways to get our son the education he needs. High school just isn't enough and we all know that. I am sure the Lord will show us the way. For now, I tell him God will show us the way BUT until he does take your pills lol.

InkyMama 08-25-2008 10:24 PM

Thanks for the feedback & encouragement everyone :)

Laurie, glad to hear that your test went ok. :)

Today was a good day! I stayed OP, drank all of my water, got in all my fruits & veggies, and was on the treadmill for 40 minutes after I put the kids to bed. I'm really proud of today!:D

I've figured something out about my weight, sorry if it's TMI.... I may think I haven't lost one week, when really, I just need to poo:o My digestion has gone haywire in the last few months since I weaned my son, and some days the old girl just ain't what she used to be. So I'm thinking that I should only weigh in when I know that things are going, *ahem*, smoothly.:dizzy:

CountingDown 08-26-2008 10:19 PM

Shy- glad to see you back here - we missed you - have a GREAT camping trip!

Inky - I had to laugh at your post. After prep and after-care for my colonoscopy I sooo relate to where you are coming from. My weight was all over the place depending upon my colon's status. I support your new weigh-in policy. Certain "variables" can dramatically affect the scale

Hope you all had a WONDERUL Tuesday! First day back for teaching staff was intense - but - thankfully - prayer kept me on track through it all :)

Blessings for all and prayers ascending!

EZMONEY 08-26-2008 11:40 PM

Hi Gals ~ My boss let me use his laptop tonight. I don't have much time...we are sharing it between dinner/showers etc. Sharing an apartment with guys you work with stinks!

I have read and included you all in my prayers...I will catch up over the long week-end ahead.

Bless you all ~ Gary
