depressed, stressed... a general mess.... prayers and encouragement needed please
I am 44 almost 45, I went from 125lbs to 214 in 2 years. It is even more depressing because I lost 70lbs to get to the 125lbs. I was fine eating the way I was, it was a lifestyle to me, but people started telling me that I was getting too thin. Then I went through a couple of depressed episodes and then I just gave up I guess and I started gaining weight, I started drinking too, making my weight gain even worse! I am struggling now to stop that as well as the OVEReating. I used to look like my avatar and I want to look like that again! I am hoping that telling on myself to others will help. I used to do tae bo which I LOVED and it helped me to lose weight. I haven't done it in 2 years, now I am so fat that even when I start to walk on my treadmill my knee starts hurting. Being a student all day makes matters worse, because I am either sitting at school or sitting at my coffee table studying. I only really take the time to make a family meal or change over the laundry. I know this needs to change... I just can't seem to get motivated............................. H E L P
I know you worked hard in the past... but forget about it.

post here... Pray right now for the Holy Spirit to give you the strength and courage to make it through today!
Good evening Dana - Great suggestion for our friend.
Lawsclan, The 125 wt for your height would appear to be getting rather slim and with so much anorexia around your friends may have been frightened for you. With the extremes in wt. gain/loss and gain, it sounds like something is going on in your life that you could use some outside help in working through. I would like to suggest that you contact a church that offers Christian biblical counseling and also take Dana's advise and check out the web site she gave. You really need to talk this through with someone face to face - not just anyone, but a godly lady. May God bless and keep you!
Lawsclan, my name is Gwyn and I 100% agree with Dana and Elizbennet! Get to the website and sign up! You can do it! I know what it is like being busy with life in general. You see I found out something that took me all my life to get. It is not about me! It is not about you! It is about the Lord Jesus and His Love for you!
Go for it! What have you got to lose? Weights!!!! Heavy weights!!!!!
Physical weight is heavy, but take it from one who knows, weights in your heart are much, much heavier.
Come Let go and Let GOD. And Know you are loved, you are loved by Dana, by Elizbennet, by me and most of all by Jesus!
lawsclan, Good afternoon! This is a new day, a fresh start and you have a new group of e-friends to encourage and love you. School along takes a lot of time and brain power, not to mention the family and daily life. I am just taking on the family- who is just about an empty nest (of course each age/stage has it's own challenges and blessings)- and the daily life. WoW, that's enough for me right now! I was concerned for you, Lawsclan, and would like to encourage you to keep giving the problems, challenges and all daily "stuff" over to Christ. (I might add, don't be like me and Take it Back! No, you let Jesus take it off your shoulders! and let Him carry it!) Maybe you school is almost over and that will give you a break from some of the pressure.
Gotta run!
HI there, thanks so much for the encouragement everyone, yes nursing school is the hardest studies I have ever done! I have done computer programming and merchandising, neither of which is anywhere near as hard as nursing school. I have done well the past couple of days and hope to continue the trend, have a great weekend all, Elizabeth
You go Girl! I haven't done nursing school but have had several friends go through it, and I remember how they had to keep their heads inside those books night and day. It really paid off for them with wonderful careers, so you hang in there and it will be a real blessing for you and your family in the future. And that is one of those careers you can use in any city/town in the US and anywhere in the world. Plus there are so many options of what kind of work you can do.
Elizabeth, do you know what type of nursing you are interested in doing, you know what I'm saying, like hospital, doc. office, or with a specialist, with the state dept.? One of my friends ( we are much older than you) is now one of the nurses at the Space and Rocket Center for the children's camps. She just loves it and works only on weekends, which fits she and her retired husband's schedule just great.
Remember to take a breather with those studies. That family of yours still needs their mommy and wife. Time will fly by if you aren't careful!
Have a restful Sunday!
Yes, it's almost all consuming doing nursing school. Sometimes it so hard, I just want to quit. I want to work with the kids also. I know alot of people think that it would pull too much on the heart strings, but I feel, who better to take care of our kids than someone who actually has heart strings. I don't know that I have time to take a breather, even now that I have (had) 3 weeks off, I sold on ebay, cleaned the house and never really "slowed down to take it easy" I know you are supposed to, but I feel guilty when I do, I know there is so much to do and it's my responsibilty so it's hard to relax....Thanks so much for the caring, Elizabeth

Lawsclan-keep the faith. The ladies in here are the best! You should look at the setting captives free it has been a blessing for me. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers in the coming week and pray that God guides and strengthens you daily. Blessings to all.

Wow, I could almost have been the one to have written this. On my bad days I blame my last semester of nursing school for making me fat.
We both know this isn't true.
I am convinced that there really is a "right" way to become fit. That is to work on your relationship with God. Keeping in mind that your body is a temple, as you grow closer to God - the temple will be rebuilt. This will surely be painful, but I'm sure we all agree that it will be well worth it.
linoleum, Ah, summer is here. Do you have a little time off from school, or are you a summer-schooler? I do hope you will have a little break.
My boys are in college and they are taking the summer off - they are delighted, but like you never slowing down! Gotta run, have a great weekend!
I'm new here too and I could use your support. I went back to school while in my forties to get my teaching credential. Thanks to God I have completed it and my children survived my education. They are on their own now. It is easier simply having to be concerned with my own meals. My husband has been doing a lot of the cooking and I got in the habit of eating his cooking rather than cook my own meal tailored to my body needs. I'm doing that now. When I cook for both of us I cook something that both of us will eat but I may cook his differently and add more starches to his to satisfy him. So, it is my prayer that my lifestyle change results in a healthier body. I have lost to 145 in the past and gained my weight back and added more. I currently 5'3" and weigh 204. I would do well to get to 120. I haven't been at that weight since I was 16 but I think it would be good to be a little thinner than I've been in the recent past. Anyway, please keep me in your prayers.
God bless you,
Marlena
I agree with all the above posters. Let the past go. Start new. Remember, that all things are possible with God. Are you going to church regularly? If not, you might want to read Christian books and look around for a church. Read uplifting material. Go to a Christian bookstore and ask about books that folks have been finding to be helpful. Get rid of all junk food in your home. Fill your home with healthier choices. Try to move a little daily. If time and fatigue are an issue, go for 15 minute walks several days a week. When you feel better, bump it up to 20 minutes, then in time, perhaps you can go to 30 minutes. 30 minutes walks, several times a week (4), will do a lot to help you lose weight. Take one day at a time; take baby steps; but go forward. I personally have gotten a lot of support from Weight Watchers, so IF you feel that additional support would be helpful, I would look into that or another supportive program.
Remember:
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your Plans will succeed."
and
"No man has ever seen, heard or even imagined the wonderful things God has in store for those who love the Lord."
