Kokomo, that's great! I had no idea that the rec centre here offered that program. Then again, I really haven't checked into *ANY* of their programs. It's definitely cool to talk to someone from the same city! :) Let's keep in touch! :) Great job getting all those km's in! I'm sure with that sort of progress, you're gonna reach goal in NO time! Have fun in Vancouver!

Brandy, good luck on your 3-day walk for breast cancer! We're all here :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: you on! :)

Jen, good for you for getting a few more miles in! Have a great weekend!

As for me, I've managed to get another 8 in (mostly indoors as the weather hasn't been too cooperative). Today looks nice though, so I'm gonna put DD in the stroller and head out for a walk. Hoping to get another 4 in today. :)

Nothing else going on this weekend. Fall is definitely here though.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Best wishes and stay happy and healthy!

Way to go ladies :carrot:

I upped my walking this month but I am having trouble controlling my food. I'm going to change my weight tracker, I'm up 7 lbs. From 163 to 170 Yikes. I have got to get this under control. I'm pigging out way to much on junk.

Tejas Walk Away the Pounds is great exercise. I would do the exercise that is the least stressful on your knees. I find if I do too much to soon it is hard on my knees. So maybe skipping a day between will help or do some other kind of exercise, like swimming.

Thanks Jen I have been walking for years but had gotten lazy. Wearing a pedometer all day gets me up and walking more.

Brandy Good luck with the 3 day cancer walk. I was hoping it would be on tv but haven't seen anything on it here in Canada. I do hope they show some of it on tv. I have seen the ads for it and it looks hard but challenging and rewarding to do.

Mel Our trip to Vancouver was great once we got over the Coquihalla highway. Fog, snow, hail and rain on our way there. On the way back serious fog. Thankfully my husband drove in the fog. My daughter drove there. The cooler weather has been great for walking in. The other night I almost turned the heat on, it was cold in the house.

Sept. 15~14 km
Sept. 16~9 km
Sept. 17~1 km--migraine.

161 km/200 km=124.7 miles

macdeez 09-18-2006 12:10 PM

I've been slacking so bad... only another 3mi to add to my total. I'm waaaaaay behind. Need to get my rear in gear! ;)

Another 2mi (at least) today. The weather is hideous and both DD and I are on our way to getting colds. Blech. So we'll see. I have a busy busy week ahead of me so I'm really hoping that with all the craziness, I'll be able to rack up some good miles.

Anyway, I'm off to get DD ready for school. Hope you all have a great Monday!

~mel

PS/ Glad to hear you had a great time in Vancouver, Kokomo. Yeah, that highway can be quite trecherous anytime, but add in fog... or snow... eeek!

Hi gals-Sorry I haven't been posting. I returned from the walk on Monday, but was busy teaching, and had 2 birthday parties, working, and babysitting that I am just now feeling human again. MAN was I EXHAUSTED!!!!!

The Kansas City walk was nice. Different from what I'm used to in Michigan, but a terrific experience all around. I'd urge all of you to seriously think about participating in something like this. It truly is life changing.

Anyways, just cuz I didn't post doesnt mean I didn't walk.

Here's my update

Miles walked - 53.5
Miles to goal - 26.5

I think I'll reach my walking goal, but won't come close to my exercise minute goal this month. Oh well.

macdeez 09-23-2006 02:56 PM

Brandy, my MIL was diagnosed with breast cancer in February and has undergone a mastectomy, just finished her last chemo treatment and begins radiation in a few weeks time. Next Sunday, DH and and I are doing a 5k run/walk for breast cancer in honor of her. Sadly, we just started raising money a few days ago but have already raised close to $1000 and are hoping to keep the funds rolling in until run-day! :) WTG on your walk! I don't doubt for one second that with everything you've had going on you are tuckered out!

Kokomo, good for you for reaching your goal... and striving to top it by 50k! That's phenom! :)

As for me, still under the weather and haven't walked in a few days. Actually, we're all sick 'round here but we're taking Sunday as a veg-out-and-relax-day so I should be ready to go on Monday. Let's hope anyway.

Hope you're all having a great weekend! Take care and best wishes!

Way to go on your walk Brandy :carrot:

Mel Have you ever been to Chickadee Ridge in Armstrong? We went there this past weekend and they have over 200 minature horses and you can go in the fields with them. Also other animals was a fun place to take our grandson.

ArtsyGirl 09-26-2006 07:50 AM

Hi gals-

miles walked-64
miles left -26

Hope you're all walking strong! I've been super busy and finding it hard to get everything done. Hopefully it'll lighten up soon.

macdeez 09-26-2006 03:55 PM

Brandy, I hear you about being super busy, lots going on here too. Good work getting 64mi in thus far! Keep it up! :)

Kokomo, no, I've never been to Chickadee Ridge. Sounds like fun though.

As for me, I've only managed to get another 6mi in. Ugh. Lagging, big time. Oh well, at least I've got my eating back OP. I'm finally feeling better, that was a nasty cold for sure, so I should be able to at least hit the 50mi mark. Still 10 short but whatever. I'll do better in Oct. <--- Can you believe that October is just a week away?! Man alive.

Anyways girls, I hope you all have a great day! Take care!

Just a quick update-

Goal in September - 90
Miles walked - 69
Miles to get done - 21

Great job everyone!!!

macdeez 09-29-2006 12:53 PM

Will be doing 4mi today... maybe more! :)

Have a great day, ladies!

~mel

macdeez 09-30-2006 11:53 AM

Walking 6mi today (3mi each way to meet DH for lunch) -- which brings me only 3 short of my goal. Maybe I'll do a WATPs DVD tonight just to finish things off.

Tomorrow, bright and early, is the 5k Run for the Cure and we're doing it in honor of MIL. It should be pretty emotional for us all. DD will be in the stroller... and we had a pink shirt made up for her that said "Running for Gramma". I think this will be something we do as a family every year from here on out in support of her. :)

Nothing else planned for the weekend, we might get started on our Christmas shopping after the run tomorrow. We'll have to see.

Anyway, hope you're all doing well. Have a great last day of September... WTG on all of your miles, ladies!

Michele L 09-30-2006 12:39 PM

Good morning, walkers! I made my goal of 85 miles this morning by doing the WATP 5 Mile Advanced Walk with all the boosters! I also passed 600 miles for the year and 10000+ steps everyday in September! The effort paid off because I found "Onederland" this week! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies -

Sorry I haven't posted for a loooong time. I had a great 1st half of the month & then came down with the flu.

I was at 90 miles by the 16th...on track to reach 180 miles for the month. Then I had to travel to Seattle for 2 weeks for business and caught the flu on the flight to Seattle. I was SICK...I had every symptom in the book (nose, chest, stomach, fever, etc.). I was down for nearly 2 weeks, which totally derailed my mileage goal. I managed to squeeze in an additional 27 miles while sick with the flu, but that's it. Oh well, I'm feeling better now and I'm doing 15 miles in the morning with my walking buddy.

Tejas 10-01-2006 04:58 PM

Hi All:

I haven't been posting much and I haven't reached my goal of 60 miles. I got 50 miles done and feel very good about it. This effort has sent me back to the podiatrist because one knee and one foot were hurting. I've got new orthotics ordered and next month, I'm gonna get that 60 done!
