Default Numb big toe

Hi everybody-Yesterday as I was just bumming around, my big toe started getting that numb/pins and needle type feel. I took an off day from exercise and tried elevating/icing but this morning its still weird. I walked my usual 4 miles this morning and things didn't get worse. I'm running a 5K tomorrow and am worried. Anyone got any idea? Its on the left side which I've had ankle surgery on, and the ankle was sore and a bit swollen yesterday, but what little swelling was there is gone this morning so I dont think thats causing it. (Plus I've never had this problem before or after the surgery which was about 1 1/2 years ago.)

Anyone ever have this happen?

At one point I got numb toes too... I went to see a chiropodist and it was Morton's Neuroma, I now wear orthotics when I run and I have no problems at all... See your doctor...

Mine was the exact same thing. Morton's Neuroma. A podiatrist can tell for sure though.

Thank you gals-I'm scheduled for my yearly physical soon, and unless it gets worse I'll wait for that appointment to address it. I have orthotics, but when I run I have to wear a brace, and they both wont fit in my shoe at the same time. We'll see what she suggests.

Brandy, I take the insole that comes with the runners out then put my orthotic in the shoe...Gives a LOT more room... The doctor always tells me to put the orthotic on top of the insole but it never ever works for me...

Thanks Ilene-I'll try that until my dr.s appt. You both have helped ease my mind a bit-knowing its not something truly bad.

Thanks again.
