I just love this thread! Great idea to start it! :)

Here is another one I had yesterday.

You get REALLY excited when you find out that you can buy crinkled CARROT chips... just plain carrots... right in the little bags like baby carrots come in... also presliced crinkled carrot slices to use in cooking! You get home and try out your new carrot chips and are thinking yum, yum, an easy new treat (baby carrots hurt my teeth).

Also... you go through the veggie section wondering which ones would be really good dehydrated. (The dehydrated veggies I buy DO contain salt and some non-hydro canola oil.) I could make my own....

Your muscles feel tight after a previous workout, but rather than just stretching them cold you go for a 4 mile run then stretch and feel far better than you did before you went out.

Oooh, Helen, I like the stretches. I don't know that I could do the 4miles yet..but I hear you on running to warm up and then stretch. It's a good feeling!

I am cracking up on some of your suggestions because I'm beginning to fit into these categories myself.

For instance, sports bras are better than the lacy ones - so you don't have to change your underwear at work's bathroom before heading off to the park to run.
And, praying for the rain cloud to hold out until after your run instead of using it as a good excuse to go home instead.

When you're feeling tired or sore you don't skip your workout, you modify it (e.g. doing swimming or pilates).

You're tempted to buy your "Dri-Fit" stuff from e-bay cos you're always working out instead of going to the shops ;)

When the only things you want from the Costo trip is chicken breasts and protein powder!

Oh and then when your colleagues start "posing" at you and showing off their biceps!

Oh yeah, and when YOUR biceps are bigger than most of your (male) colleagues'

I know I must be weird because I was hoping for lacy sport bras! Actually I try to choose sports bras that look like regular bras.

You know you're a fitness freak when you use heavier dumbbells than the instructor.

You stay for 2 exercise classes - after a few miles on the treadmill to "warm-up"

You have a spare hour so bribe your kickboxing instructor to turn up early to training! You figure if he doesn't turn up you can always go for a run or skip.

I'm not sure I really qualify as a fitness freak, but I have a few...

- You actually get up earlier when you are on vacation than when you are working so that you can get a workout in at the hotel gym before your day starts.

- You get up at 7:00 AM on a Saturday so that you can be there when the pool opens for lap swim.

- You arrive late to a work-related conference because you wanted to get your workout in and the gym didn't open early enough for you to both workout and get to the conference on time.

- You used to think that people who got up a 5:00 AM to workout were suffering from some sort of mental illness, but now you sometimes find yourself right there with them when you have a busy day scheduled and want to get your workout in.

- Some days you get up early and workout even when you don't have to, just because it feels so good to know you have the workout out of the way for the day.

- Your peronsal trainer tells you that you really don't need to be doing so much cardio. You do not know what to do with this information.

- You are visiting your parents in December in Chicago when it is 0 degrees out with a windchill of 10 below and still seriously consider whether or not it might be possible to go running in the neighborhood so that you can get some exercise in. You put on workout clothes and stand in the driveway contemplating it. When you finally come to the inevitable conclusion that running in 0 degree weather probably isn't feasible, you pay $10 to use the local Bally's gym...twice!

- You pay $18 to use the upscale gym near your hotel, even though your hotel has a gym you can use for free.

- You exercise every day of the week, even Saturdays and Sundays. In fact, your normal weekend routine includes a trip to the gym in between errands.

- You start think of your workouts as "your" time.

You go on a cruise and get to know all of the other people who frequent the promenade deck day and night.

When your idea of a "perfect night in" is bed at 7pm. To sleep.

nelie 08-18-2006 11:00 AM

Frus!:nono:

You sound like my DF! Well not quite but I am torn because exercise cuts into time for "other things" and someone wants to get extra sleep and oh well I'll survive :)

Barbara this one made me laugh. I'm right there with you! You do get to a point where it's not about just getting so many minutes in so that you can quit and go home. When I have my headphones on I am having my own little party and I just don't care when my so called thirty to fourty minutes are up on the machines. I'm just having way too much fun! :hyper:

You know you're a fitness freak when you add more exercise to your routine and it doesn't tire you out like you thought it would!

Oh and you're getting really :tape: impatient that your new bike saddle hasn't turned up yet - which is keeping you from commuting 24 miles a couple of times a week! :tantrum:

Misti in Seattle 09-01-2006 08:04 AM

You lie in bed at night wide awake and wishing you could get up and exercise
