Unhappy Getting Frustrated and Bored!

Ok, well the past 2 weeks I've been doing exercises on my stability ball, and resitance training with some bands, and walking alot....that's about the extent of my exercise...but I find myself extremely bored and not getting the results I want... I want to get more toned definition...which I don't think will happen with my current program. I can't afford a gym membership, or anything else for that matter, but I need to do something because this body looking back at me ain't pretty!!! LOL! I used to be a gymnast and never had problems with my weight, then got really ill was put on so many different medications and gained about 35 LB's that are very much unwanted!!! So I'm new to exercise, new to trying to lose weight, and have no idea how to go about it, or what's the best way to do it. I also read the post "the 10 worst exercises you can do"....they were all the ones I was doing...or most anyway.... kind of discouraging!

What really helped me was getting a video series. I started with Kathy Smith's Project you after reading about it on this site. She teaches you how to do all the moves and it isn't as boring because it is kind of fun to work out with a video, almost like you are in the class. She uses a stability ball and dumbells and the videos include upper and lower body strength, cardio, yoga, and pilaties. It is a very balanced system and it teaches you everything you need to know.

Otherwise, fitness magazines always have a bunch of workouts every month that are different. Body for Life has books with with descriptions as does Jillian Michaels book. You can prowl around this website and find some info as well.

As for being bored, listen to music and do it every day until it becomes habit.

I bought a book put out by Shape magazine that is pretty good. It's like 75 Best Execises for women or something like that. It is divided up into body parts--section for arms, back, chest, etc. with several exercises--mostly with dumbells--for each. I got it at Wal-Mart for around $9, I think. Good investment.

If you are interested in video workouts but not sure what you would like, try the library, an online video rental, or the video rental store. All normally carry workout videos and this way you can try before you buy!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm not disciplined in this area at all, never had to be before....and I find that my attention is just not there when I try to do things on my own.... I get too sidetracked! I hate it wen that happens!!!
