That would be my hubby's favorite place to go if I decided to take a vacation out there. ;)

BlynC, I drove through South Dakota last year and it was awesome. I only saw the stuff that was right along I-90 (Mitchell, Wall Drug, and those gorgeous Badlands) but I was very impressed. That's why this coast-to-coast walk is so much fun; I can mentally relive last year's trip as we make progress with our walking.

Today was an aerobics day for me, but I did manage to log a mile as my warm-up.

5/5.......2
Total.....49.5
South Dakota...They filmed Dances With Wolves in the Black Hills I think. I'll bet there have been alot of movies filmed there.....

Starship Troopers was filmed in the Badlands. That's why DS (a real Heinlein fan) was so insistant that we stop there.

Well, plans changed and I did a 2 mile WATP yesterday before I went shopping. Shopping was productive, but I didn't log as many steps as I had hoped (only 10291). But I'm happy because I had a ME day. Hubby came home and asked me what I did. My response, "I exercised and went shopping!" He gave me a look, but I reminded him that this day was for ME. He wisely let it drop.

Today he's gone much of the day doing something he enjoys--geocaching. I'll be at home with my son while daughter is at her babysitting class. Planning on doing some kind of WATP, but not sure what yet. PLUS, there's the usual laundry, dishes and supper to take care of. And then there's the dusting and vacuuming, and sheets to change and the list goes on and on and on........

Should get lots of steps if I can stay away from the computer (lol). I have a tendency to sit here and read messages and play computer games for WAAAAAY too long. Then nothing gets done!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Michele

Good morning, everyone!

Blyn, thanks for the great info!

Annie, love your new Avatar! It's great to get a look at my walking partners!!

Yay Lydia.. that was a LOT of exercise and walking. :cheer:

I would have loved to have seen the antique doll museum in SD!!! I was traveling with others and pretty much had to stop at the places they were interested in.

Courtnie... did you mean your miles for 5/4 were 2.87? I subtracted 35.61 from 38.46. But just want to verify. Thanks.

:cheer: We are over halfway!!!! Grand total is now 1538.20!!!

We are almost to Reliance SD. BTW I am picking these city names off the map as I am totally unfamiliar with that section of the country... so if you walker chicks who live out that way or have traveled there more can fill in missing info or "not to be missed" sites please do so!!

Thanks Misti. I like to rotate my avatar. I get bored with keeping the same one for too long so I thought why not post my pic. :)

A friend and I went on an early morning walk on a local trail today. The bad news... we stopped at Starbucks on the way home (my friend was in dire need of a caffeine hit) and I ordered a nonfat chai. The good news... I fought temptation and did NOT order a pastry. =0)

No cake today. We are having it tomorrow. I did pick up the cake and it is so cute. I know she is going to love it when she gets to see it. I had my mom take it to their house so she doesn't get to peek at it.

Dagirl, good job on passing up the pastry!!

Annie, glad the cake turned out so cute!

Well today I got zero steps because I wore pants with no pockets and this pedometer won't stay on my waistband LOL. So nothing to count... but I DID do a tremendous amount of exercise. My vacuum cleaner broke and I have been down crawling around in the floor with my Dustbuster vacuuming! Whew!!!
