Boo! No company for the clutz :D Seriously, I am one of the most accident-prone people on the planet. One time, I nearly broke my finger just by turning a doorknob. Don't ask me how, I don't know! All I know is that I heard a sickening snap followed by extreme pain in my finger. I couldn't use it for days.

I think I've figured out a solution, though! Clear tape. It should help protect against scratching while still allowing me to see the display clearly. Yay!

Misti in Seattle 03-18-2006 03:28 PM

Sounds like a winning idea!!!!

I am a klutz too... I have shut my fingers in file cabinets, desk drawers, everything else LOL

Misti in Seattle 03-18-2006 03:56 PM

HealthierMe, did you get your shoes? I got a pair but I am not going to use my prize money as LOL I am putting $10 into the cruise fund. I got mine at the Brooks outlet store... have never had Brooks before but they feel good and they specialize in them so they should be good. LOL they had some for $14.99 but I went in and told them I wanted good ones... I've had too many of the cheapos and these are going to get some wear! And I just went online to check out the prices... wow did I ever get a great deal! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hmmm I hadn't really thought about a prize... I can't even imagine what I'd want for a prize. :?: I pretty much have everything I want. Well, except maybe a finished basement, but that's kind of a big prize for just walking around! :D

I treated myself to a pedicure last week. I guess we can count that as a prize!

Misti in Seattle 03-18-2006 06:27 PM

Well Lena... the HEALTH benefits are a big prize for ALL of us!!! :) Good job!!! I can't wait to start the cross country LOL.

You know... confession... one reason I was hesitant about the cross country is that I will be committing myself to stick with this for the long haul LOL. Of course I WANT to do that but I was a bit of a chicken LOL. By the time we get to Seattle I should be very slim and trim LOL

That's sort of exactly what I had been thinking, Dance. That the real prize for me is going to be leaner, more well-toned legs (hubba, hubba!) and just the overall weight loss. A better looking (and healthier) body!

But it sounded kinda hokey, so I kept it to myself!

Hmmmm how long will it take us? Well, if there are 5 of us, walking on average 3 miles a day, we can cover 3,100 miles in little under 7 months. So we'll most certainly get there for the holidays if we start in the next week or so! We can get there before the start of school if more folks join up along the way!

Misti in Seattle 03-18-2006 07:06 PM

Oh yikes I am certainly HOPING we have a lot more people sign up!! I think we will if we can get a sticky posted on it!! LOL but it is good to know I can be home for Christmas!! :ginger:

LadyFirelyght 03-18-2006 07:09 PM

Wow, 7 months is a long time! You know, I think I'm going to start the Couch to 5k program next week. I've always loved running, but my stamina is PATOOEY! That would definitely help us get across the nation faster :D

Edit: Dance, I literally laughed out loud when I read that last sentence. TOO FUNNY!

Misti in Seattle 03-18-2006 07:14 PM

ROF Lydia well I am certainly HOPING more people sign up!! By the way there were six who participated... Kayley just posted her steps in one big lump rather than daily as a lot of us did LOL.

But yah Lydia you had best start running! I would love to get in shape enough so I can start it... my legs are getting stronger and "want to run" -- but I am toooooo topheavy to lug around the top half while running LOL. But "by the time we get to Phoenix" I'll be fine. LOL I don't even know if we go through Phoenix; I just couldn't resist that line.

You are all invited to a cyber Christmas party at my place. :gift2:

LadyFirelyght 03-18-2006 07:19 PM

I think I need to do something today... it 6:20pm and I've gone less than 1,000 steps!!!!!!! Holy cow. Okay, well, I can't walk outside 'cause it's getting dark and there are no street lights so... walking in place!

Misti in Seattle 03-18-2006 07:23 PM

Okay, Lydia... march! :) I can't talk as so far I only have about 5700 steps. I didn't go out walking because I had SO much to do today but a lot of it was housework, which I can count as exercise (and it WAS!!) on my Beat the Bulge contest thread. :)

I can't wait to wear my new walking shoes! I was really happy when I looked up the price on the Internet!! Yay I got mine for a fantastic price!!! And they are made for people with low arch supports or flat feet so feel SO much better than my last ones, which cost more. Yay

LadyFirelyght 03-18-2006 08:29 PM

Man, that felt so good. I did 30 minutes of aerobics (even with my sore muscles, which feel better now!) plus 18 minutes more of just doing laps around the house. Ooh, so nice.

Misti in Seattle 03-18-2006 08:31 PM

Yay, good for you, Lydia!!! You will have us all in Detroit before we know it :dancer:

Wow you are almost DOUBLE your exercise goal for the week. You are MOVING!!!

LadyFirelyght 03-18-2006 08:44 PM

Mmm, I just finished dinner. Contemplating having that ice cream now... hmm hmm hmm. Should I have it tonight or tomorrow? That is the question. I'll probably have it tonight because I just ate spicy food and it'll help calm my stomach! Mmmmmmm! Mint chocolate chip, here I come :carrot:

As of right now, I've more than doubled my goal for this week. I've decided that because I'm consistently going over the 4 hours, I'm going to up it to 6. That'll give me something to REALLY work for. If I can consistently go over that for a few weeks, I'll up it even more. My ultimate goal is at least 10 hours a week. That's going to take some major work!
