Default Working out in street clothes?

So, when I go to work, we dress real casual -- jeans and a t-shirt is the norm.

At home, the exercise bike and weights are on the first floor. My bedroom is on the second floor. It used to be I'd come home, go upstairs, and change into my workout clothes -- sometimes. Sometimes I'd get upstairs and collapsing on the bed, playing on the computer, cuddling with the cats, or watching TV (sometimes all four at once!) was more compelling, and I'd never make it downstairs to exercise.

So lately, when I feel like my willpower is in jeopardy, I stay downstairs and work out on the bike in my jeans and t-shirt. If they're not my loose jeans, I unzip them and just wear the shirt over. Nobody is around to see but the cats. I promise myself 20 minutes on the bike and I can go upstairs and play, and almost always I end up at 30-45 minutes anyway.

So am I just freakishly weird? I figure whatever gets me to doing it, eh, so what if I'm weird. I tried stashing workout clothes to change into downstairs, but I kept forgetting, and sometimes even that spoiled my momentum to exercise.

Geez, since you're alone with the cats, just chuck the jeans all together, you'll be a heck of a lot more comfortable... and/or chuck the jeans AND t-shirt, heck that's what I'd probably do the comfier the better...

i'd probably keep a t-shirt and pair of shorts next to the exercise and just change into them to exercise and then leave them there for a few work outs.

I'm with you, Ilene. That's what I actually do. Strip down and get to work! It's a heck of a lot more comfortable that way.

I'm with Ilene. Just rip off the jeans and get to sweating. Or just keep a pair of shorts next to or on top of the bike.

Sounds like you've found something that works for you. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

So this is probably an over-share, but the other night I was on the treadmill and was really pushing myself. I was hot, sweaty, and my underwear was riding up my rear like you wouldn't believe. So, I took off my shorts, my underwear and my shirt. I was on the treadmill in shoes, socks and a sports bra! My husband walked in and just about died laughing. But hey, I was comfortable and the blinds were closed!

Rabidstoat, wear whatever you want as long as you exercise!

I commonly work out in little more than a bra and shorts. And that's only 'cause I think exercising in only a bra would be a bit too weird...

Im often only in my bra and shorts, or even my pj bottoms most mornings also on days I cant do it at home, I know that 3 laps around my building is 1.25 miles so I have shoes here and I go walking in my work clothes, I have extra deodorent in my desk and touch up my makeup, and in the summer I keep a tee shirt here, but I say get it in when you can, and strip down if you want too, the important part is just doing it!!! :-)

I used to always work out in street clothes. I hated when I was back in college asking to use the workout room and getting the response: "You don't look like you're going to workout." I never bought sweatpants because they made me look fat. I never wore shorts because my thighs made me look fat. Besides, I didn't really have money to buy a whole new "workout wardrobe" that I would never wear any other time. I agree with everyone else; wear what makes you comfortable.
