Default My classroom Boot Camp!

Yesterday I was feeling energetic so I decided to take my students for a walk (I teach 4th grade). We walked about a half mile down the road and up and down some sand dunes (I teach right on the beach in the middle of the Indiana Dunes Lakeshore--nice huh?). On the way back I decided we'd jog...which is pretty new for me but I figured we'd give it a shot...by the time we got the 1/2 mile back to the school I turned around and half my class is way back there huffing and puffing....gasping for air! It was the saddest thing ever!! I couldn't believe these kids were so out of shape!

Today we had free time, so I left my assistant with my class and I took the 5 kids who were in the worst shape and we started the first official day of 4th Grade Boot Camp! (which seems more like "fat camp"....sad, I know!). I took the kids to the beach and made them power walk, then jog, then power walk again. Poor kids almost couldn't handle it, but I'm gonna keep working them until they can outrun me! It'll be good for me to get the exercise anyway.

Just thought I'd share! Isn't it sad that these kids are so out of shape and they're only 9??
