Default Wacky Workouts or Rut Busters?

Hi there,
I'm writing an article for a fitness magazine on wacky workouts you can do when you just can't stand doing the same old thing one more day....

Someone here once told me about wheeling around 100 pounds of dog food in a shopping cart for 30 minutes and then putting it back and stretching in the parking lot! That one is definitely going in.

Anyone have anything else you want to share? I don't have to use real names...

What do you do to bust out of your workout ruts?

Julie

I don't have workout ruts since I love what I do already!

I guess if you find something you enjoy doing, you don't get in a rut with it! I kickbox 3-4 days a week, run and weightlift, I love it all!

I have a cat that is species confused - he thinks he is a dog and he thinks I am a cat, so on occasion, I run around the aprtment and we chase eachother. another thing he does is a great tummy toner- he lays flat on my abs so when I crunch upwards, I have 11 pounds helping me out for resistance training (crunch up and resist kissing my cute kitty cat!)

LOL! That's awesome, Firmgirl...I hadn't thought about pets, since I don't have any. I'll definitely put that in the rough draft. THanks for sharing.

2Frustrated--Lucky you! It's awesome when you know what you love and can keep doing it. I've just discovered figure skating and am totally obsessed with it!

Anyone else have something fun to share? This is for the summer issue of Diet & Fitness, btw.

Has anyone else here ever gone snowmobiling? I never would have ever suspected that riding one was exercise...until I *tried* to get out of bed the next morning!

Don't laugh... My dad always told me that wood warms you twice- once when you chop it, once when you burn it.

It gives you two workouts too- once when you chop and once when you stack it!

My dad always combined those two...wood warms you five times, once when you chop it down, once when you split it, once when you stack it, once when you haul it inside, and once when you burn it!!!! Okay, I live in Maine and have done too much wood hauling to call it a "fun" work out! I do love to split it though, makes me feel all testosteroney.

Great idea about the snowmobiling, too!

keep em coming!

Im not sure if these count or not but when i don't feel like doing my morning workout i just plug in a good show and put the timer on for 30 minutes then i keep walking moving for the entire 30 feels pretty good! Also my daughter is 17 months and loves to be chased around so when im feeling up to it i just run her around the house and up the stairs! she really wears me out! but I usually just plug in music or a movie and shake my bon bon till im sweaty that way i feel i've gotten some good cal's burned.
