Hi everyone, I'm new here. Just finished a 30 min walk/run in preperation for a 10k at the end of spring. It went really well except I think running on the sidewalk is a little harsh for me. Where do you normally run?
miaka- check out the websites for running magazines and specialty shops like the running room, they have listings for races almost everywhere.

I remember you from the other thread,
... I always run on the road or sidewalk, I don't like running on the grass because it's too uneven... Maybe treadmill running would be easier to start, the treadmill is easier on the knees. Congrats on your goal of the 10K, but since you are just starting out why don't you strive for a 5K, it seems to be more attainable for a begginer... Just a thought...
. Thanks for the tip on race search. I'll start looking
... How exciting for you the police academy
... I agree it is definitely much more difficult to run outside than on the dreadmill, but with practice it will get easier, I promise... I used to hate running outside, now I hate running inside and will run almost rain or shine outside...
.... It's all good...
Been running regularily since July and am pleased to announce I successfully ran one mile in 11 minutes 50 seconds! I am so proud of myself and I just had to share my news. LOL
