Default Powerwalking- Palytex Moonwalk

At some point over the last 24 hours I decided it would be fun to join 10,000 women, dressed in bras, walking the London Marathon route (26 miles!) in the dark on May 20th for Breast Cancer

I've joined up and will really be doing it and now need to get a training plan.

I've figured the bra can be heavily decorated with lots of stomach covering fringing and I obviously will have lost two stone by then!

Has anyone done it/ known any one who's done it (except Nell McAndrew grrr.) and can pass on any hints/ tips?

You probably will want to do some training. Check thewalkingsite.com for marathon training schedules and information.

Hi, I didn't have it in me to do a full marathon but I did do a half. Start training now! Also if the marathon is not entirely walkers, get yourself to the point that you can jog a least .5-1 mile, because in all the excitment at the beginning you either run or get trammpled. Train outside as much as possible! It is really much harder to walk outdoors than it is on a treadmill. When you are on the treadmill give yourself a bit of incline to get closer to outdoor walking. Don't constantly add miles, in other words if you do 12 miles one day you may only want to do 5-8 the next day. Slowly work up so that your both you heavy days and light days get longer over time. Get really good sock that fit properly and go to a running store ( not shoe store) and get properly fited for sneakers. Some tricks I used was hard candy, don't go sugar free here. This will help keep your mouth moist between water stops and help keep you from getting dizzy ( at least it helped me). Also best of luck I did my half for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and it was more than worth all the pain and work.
