Question Question about working out...

Hi,

I am new here, I began eating healthier and following the South Beach Diet....So far, I have lost 14lbs. I have a membership to Bally's and a gym in my apt. complex. I was wondering if I would see more results if I do cardio only for a while and then add in weights or start both now?

I am 5'9" and weigh 176lbs. I plan on working out 5 days a week doing running, spinning, or kickboxing. Any other suggestions? They would be much appreciated.

congrats on the 14 lb. loss! I'm not an expert, a personal trainer, etc. (just someone who lost weight and has kept it off). I have done strength training the whole way thru, generally 2-3 times a week. Free weights, barbells, medicine ball, sometimes a resistance tube (convenient for travel). I think you will see good results from adding the strength routine. A trainer at your gym should be able to give you an assessment and set you up w/a good initial program.

Do both now. The increase in muscle mass from lifting will increase your metabolism so you'll be burning more calories throughout the day. Great job on the 14 pound loss too!
