Hi everyone, first time here, just found this forum through someone on another forum, looks great. A little about myself - I'm 48, live just east of Albany, NY, have one son and one cat, have been a single parent for many years now, need to lose at least 20 pounds. Anyhoo, I have been home sick fighting off pneumonia and the computer is my only outlet when I'm awake, taking lots of meds right now, which tend to knock me out. I'm considering buying an elliptical trainer (arthritis in knees) and someone told me that they are great. Does anyone have one, if so what do you like/not like about it? I see one advertised at a sportings good store in my are for $299, regularly $399. It is a Pro Form, does not give much info in the ad. I have been told that you really need something like a nordic track, but they are very expensive and I really do not have that kind of $$. Any advice offered would be deeply appreciated. I'm hoping that I will be well enought in a couple of days to go take a look at this machine. Sorry this is so long. Everyone have a wonder day. Meggie

Hi everyone. I did go out yesterday and purchase an Orbitrek. I have a very small house and thought it looked quite sturdy. After I got home, I found some reviews on here that says that the Orbitrek is a piece of crap so now I'm very nervous about buying it. Does anyone have one of these and if so, please tell me that it's not garbage. Thanks so much. Meggie

I own an Orbitrek and have had it for over a year. I love mine. It is the best investment that I've made plus it comes with a lifetime warranty and you really can't beat that. I've also been recovering from bronchitis and strep throat so lately I haven't had or felt like doing much exercise so my Orbitrek is very lonely. I would definitely purchase the Orbitrek again if I had to do it all over again.

Rose, I am a newbie here and I would really like to know how you use your Orbitrek - I got one for Christmas last year and cannot seem to get into using it. I work full time and have three kids, a husband and a house to care for, I know lots of people have more responsibilities than I do and find time to exercise but by the time I'm ready it is time for bed!! Right now the Orbitrek is in the basement, there isn't a TV there but I do have a stereo, any suggestions?

Hi Susan,
I have an idea that just might work for you. I'm doing (well once I recover from my illness) a program called the Spark program. It basically consists of doing three 10 minute segments of exercise throughout the day. It's the only way that I've been able to exercise. I am a single parent that works full time and I also have a teenage son that keeps me on the run so I know where you are coming from. What I would do is get up and do 10 minutes in the morning (you could listen to some music you like) and then do another 10 later on in the day ( I do one as soon as I get home from work and then another 10 minutes 2 hours later). This has worked for me in the past and I really found that I could stick to it because I didn't have to find 30 to 45 minutes at a time to exercise. I think I have the article scanned that explains the program a bit if you would like me to email it to you I would be more then happy to. Just let me know. Good luck!

Rose, Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I had to go out of town for a couple of days. The Spark Program sounds great! Can you pm me with the details? I like the idea of being able to work out for a few minutes at a time without feeling guilty about not doing a whole 30 minutes at once.

Meggie-How is the Orbitrek? I really do love mine and it is perfect for a small apartment. I have a small one that I share with my 17 year old son and I sure can't have a big machine taking up what little room I have so this works out great. I hope you like it!

Hi Rose, just wanted to say thanks for the invite. Unfortunately, I have not gotten to try my Orbitrek yet due to my pneumonia recouperation. I had to have fluid pumped out of my chest cavity on Monday and then again on Friday. I did get the go ahead to go back to work this Monday. I have to see the Dr. again on Friday. I'm not sure when he will let me go back to working out. I am feeling a lot better than I did, but have to still stay pretty quiet. Hasn't been fun, but not much I can do about it. Thanks again.
