Music for walking/running
I looked for a thread on what music people listen to while walking/running, but couldn't find one. . .so, I'm starting this one--if someone knows of a thread like this already existing, please let me know. Thanks!
What do you listen to when you walk/run? I thought if people shared their lists, we could all get ideas to help keep our lists interesting. I'd love to hear some great ideas to help me mix it up so I have multiple lists to choose from and don't get bored with the one I have! :dancer: This is my playlist for walks with jogging intervals (um, I don't run): Finally--Patti Page (gets me started in a positive way) Lora Lei--The Pogues (nice, lyrical, but still walking fast) Corazon Espinado--Santana (good for a fast walk interval) Wild World--Cat Stevens (good to slow down a bit again) Marry--Domestic Problems (Michigan band, cute song about love/family makes me smile) James Francis--Domestic Problems (same, but this is about the lead singer's dad) Africa--Toto (good walking pace, bright energetic) Breakfast at Tiffany's--Deep Blue Something (same) Sometimes--Midnight Oil (I usually jog to this, it appeals to my sense of social justice and makes me feel strong and determined) Lust for life--Iggy Pop (I can't help moving fast to this one!) I Wanna Be a Supermodel--Clueless soundtrack (funny, slows me down to a walk) One Week--Barenaked Ladies (fast enough to return to a jog if I'm up to it) Runaround--Blues Traveler (fast walk, just a great song) Smooth--Santana/Rob Thomas (still a fast walk, really energetic to keep me going) Desert Rose--Sting (a great cool-down song, very peaceful and meditative) --p |
Great topic! I have "Lust for Life" on my list, too! Another one that I find great to walk/jog to is "All My Life" by the Foo Fighters :)

How about audio books? They pass the time so well.

Here are a couple more: Eminem--from 8 mile soundtrack, and Cleanin' out my closet No doubt--it's my life (actually all No Doubt songs are good for moving to) Moby Barenaked Ladies Bodeans--If I could hold you that's it so far. |
I just got Gwen Stefani's cd Love. Angel. Music. Baby. Almost every song has a great beat :)
No Doubt Seven Nation Army-The White Stripes Santeria, Same in the End, What I Got, Burritos, 5446, I saw Red-Sublime Sugar, I-E-A-I-A-I-O, Atwa, Bounce, Forest, Chop Suey!, Prison Song-System Of A Down Old School Vol. 1 has a bunch of great stuff Never There, Perhaps -Cake I could keep going, but I'll spare you  |
Please don't spare us, Jessie! The more ideas, the better. I have the attention span of a housefly, so I need to constantly mix up my music or I get bored/unmotivated!!!

Hmmm, I'm starting to wonder if I mention what I listen to if anyone will know what I'm talking about. So...who are all these people you guys are talking about? LOL
Some of my favorite running tunes are: Teenage Wasteland Pour Some Sugar On It **** is For Children Comon Ileen Karma Cameleon Brickhouse Wild Thing We Built This City on Rock and Roll We've Got the Beat Centerfold Cecilia Kiss Me Deadly Heartbreaker Freeze Frame Paradise City Sweet Child of Mine Panama Jamie's Crying Dance the Night Away I Will Survive Hey Now You're a Rock Star Roll With the Changes Since I've learned to run, I don't walk anymore, so I don't have any specific walking tunes. Now if any of you guys are wondering what the heck these songs are, think 80's, perhaps even 70's. If you weren't born yet, you don't know what you're missing. :D |
Cool songs! he he.. alot of those are ones I use!
