Thumbs up New Year, New Exercise Regime

My husband's boss lives right next to us and his wife and I get along really great. We decided that we'd start walking. (we looked up curves information and the hours just weren't feasable for us)

So, at 5:30 am, we both got out and walked. We walked an hour because I had to get back and get the kiddos up for school (first day back after the holidays for them).

We did the math and calculated that we walked 3.7 miles (round trip)

Walking is free and it gives us a chance to get out and get some time to ourselves.

It felt great!

And your pedometer measured?????

Congratulations, I hope you enjoy it enough to continue even if your husband's bosses wife (?!?!) drops out!

One motivational trick if I may: grab a local map and measure 3.7 miles AWAY in any direction, draw a 3.7mile line on the map. Add your next walk to this straight line and so on...

You may have to swap map pages etc but walking over water and mountains etc is very much allowed. Eventually you will find you have walked to some amazing places. Last year I read all about that small european principality Liechtenstein, purely cos I walked the length of it in less than 5 days. Any country I can walk in less than a week just has to be visited I thought. But NO, it is nestled between Switzerland and Austria and I don't do small slopes, let alone whole mountains!

Anyway, keep on walking...

Great advice on finding new places to walk! We don't have as an exciting landscape to choose from, lol, everything here is pretty much the same. I still prefer my treadmill, but have considered taking a "walking vacation".

Frugalchick, what a great way to start out the new year! I hope it continues for you, and that the weather holds out, too.
