Wow! Everyone is doing AWESOME!!!

:strong:

I had a productive day yesterday and managed to do EVERYTHING I intended to. After logging all food and activity into fitday.com I found out I consumed a little less than 1200 cals. while burning nearly 3000. Crazy. But a good type of "crazy". Just seeing those figures has inspired me to push a little harder today. :drill:

Hubby and I went for a brisk hr. long walk lastnight (my guess would be close to 5mi) and the poor guy kept making comments how he couldn't keep up! :snail: Which was more of an ego-boost than anything since he's always ranting and raving about how physically demanding his job is. Pffffft.

After I finish posting, I'm gonna put on my sneaks and head out for an hr 1/2 walk with my daughter. Other activities include: pilates, 70crunches, weight-training. Best get on it...!

Kristi... I'm with the other girls, if you like your hair, that's all that matters! It certainly sound like the perfect summer haircut anyway! :D Good luck on the 7mi bike ride! And congrats on being down another 2lbs! Awesome!

Jo-Jo... Sounds like you had a great bike ride yesterday... and in no time, you'll be able to ride BOTH ways to your in-laws! Fabulous!

Mrs. Beasley... Best of luck on your 3mi walk today! I'm sure you'll do wonderfully! :D

Cathy... sounds as though you had one heckava productive morning! WTG! I sure wish I had your amt. of energy so early in the morning!
:D

Sheila... Wow! Curves, 3 mi. walk lastnight and again today! Awesome! Keep that up and you'll reach your goal in no time! :)

Sunny... You have a crazy amt. of energy... enough to share? ;) Sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you! Congrats on making time to get your exercise in! :) Yup, I certainly am a newly-wed... just got hitched on May 22nd. :) It was beautiful... maybe I'll post pics sometime. :D

Anyways girls, I gotta get my butt in gear before it gets too late. I hope you all have a happy and healthy day! Best of luck to you all! :D

Sunny, Sunny, Sunny, doing ironing in advance?!?! That's all wrong girl, you're suppose to run around like a chicken with your head cut off 20 min before church starts. Aren't you ?!?!?! lol Energetic and organized too, I feel so inferior lol HAve a great weekend...Mel, Wow girl! You had an awesome day yesterday. You'll get those baby pounds off in no time.......As for me, we headed to town to meet up with the rest of the children's ball teams for our fun day bycycle ride and 2 miles out it started to rain. I knew we were going to cut it close, but my mom lives right off the trail 1/2 mile from where we were to meet the rest so, I thought if it rains we'll just go visit. Rain it did when DH came with the pick up to get the bikes we were all in our undies and my dad's t-shirts lol What a sight, but our clothes felt so snugly right out of the dryer. It'll give DS something to remember his 9th b-day by. My 7 y/o, I mentioned before, had just learned to ride a two wheeler Sun even came on the ride with us. She did totally awesome. We made the 3+ mile in 26 min. She never complained , not even about the rain :) I have to make pumkin pies now. DS always wants pumkin pie rather than cake (unless his friends are coming lol) and I'm posting my 4 miles ,because I have time for that too. It's been a "berry" good day. Rain and all!! Hope yours had been too!!

Ok Sheila, twist my arm... ;) Here are a few of the pics... I still have my prof. ones to upload so perhaps I'll share those once I've done so. :)

Kristi... wow, sounds like you had an eventful day what with the bike ride, taking refuge at your mom's and baking pumpkin pies! Crazy busy, you are! Glad to hear that your 7 y/o has learned to ride a 2-wheeler... what great fun you'll have with you kids! :D Happy birthday to your son, btw! :hb: :gift:

Michelle... Looking forward to hearing from you later. Hope you had a great day at work! :D

Anyway my little munchkin is off for a nap soon so I should make the most of my "free time". Have a great day girls! :D

Swam again today. Not as long as I would have liked but they are having a problem keeping the air and water temps right and it was really chilly in the pool room at school. Total I think I was in the water about 4-50 mintues. Hope they get the temp problem worked out by Monday.

lovnmom 07-09-2004 07:25 PM

Hey Michelle, Great to hear you summer's in full swing and you're doing great.......Mel, We did have a very adventurous day. DS got loads of Yugio cards in the mail from my SIL. He's just in Yugio heaven well, when he's not blasting his siblings with his new "spidy blaster". Your wedding pics are beautiful I especially like the black and white in which you are signing your license. Really nice. Your little munchkin is just beautiful as well......Janine, Another great job at the pool. I hope they get the temps fixed for you.........I got my 4 miles in on the TM today. I thought I'd go slower and do incline, which I did, while watching tv. There was nothing good to watch so I popped in "Sweating to the Oldies 2". I'm telling you ladies I had a blast. I haven't used a Richard Simmons tape in over a yr. I'm sure. I forgot how much fun his music is and what nice things he can say. I know many think he's a flake, but it was his tapes and food mover that got me off the couch to begin with. I just may play his tapes with the TM again......We have a wedding to go to tomorrow, but it's not until 3:30 so I'm planning a lower body strength training and at least 1 mile. I'm reading that Dave Draper book and he says 10 min on the TM before you work out is great for getting the joints lubricated and the muscles warmed up. Sounded right to me.......Have a great weekend!
P.S. You know what I really like right now? I'm not concerned about the wedding reception at all. I know I'll eat a little more than OP, but I know I won't pig out or anything. I'm really learning to look at events as seeing people I haven't seen in a long time rather than mmmmmmm I wonder what they're serving!!! God is good and so are all of you. Thanks much :)

Hi I'm new and don't know really where to start. I am doing walk away the pounds with Leslie. When I was at work I had a walking buddy but since summer started I don't have anyone until school starts again. I fond you guys and had a look around and it looks like a great support group. I was just wondering how do I join in the fun here.

Alittle bit about myself. I work at a school as a parateacher. I have 2 boys 22 and 23. I'm a Diabetic and just started taking insulin shots. I have found that walking really helps my bg control. I'm hopeing to lose 20 pounds hopeing I might be taken off insulin. If not I'm going to go for 30.

Welcome kcwinter, You've done all you needed to do to join on here!!! The Leslie tapes are a great way to get your miles in. She and her group are fun to walk with. You'll see alot of the ladies here walk with Leslie. Sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with diabetes, but delighted you are making lifestyle changes to improve your health. You will find some of the best support here. These ladies are awesome..............I got my 2 miles in, but no strength. I did clean my house good though and I'm now off to a wedding. Taking DD to Bible camp tomorrow, but will find time to TTY....Have a great Sat...........Great job again Cathy. YGG

Well girls, I feel GREAT! I've really taken a liking to fitday.com and have discovered that seeing the numbers in bold print in front of you to be a huge motivator! :) It's given me that kick in the pants that I need.

Yesterday my cals. came in at 650. Today just under 700. And I'm not hungry. Haven't been either days... just been eating healthy foods rather than my typical calorie-infused junk (and drinking only water!). Feeling nothing short of AWESOME! :D

Yesterday I managed to get all intended exercise in... which makes up for today, I suppose. Only found time to take an hr. long brisk walk with hubby and daughter tonight. Oh well. Tomorrow will be better, work-out wise. :)

-----------------------
Kristi... Sounds like your son cleaned up on Yugio cards! Cool cool! My nephews love those things! Glad to hear he had a great birthday! :) Sweatin' to the Oldies, huh? Hey, whatever works for you (and if it's fun for you, then even better)! :D Sounds like you had a good day today with your 2mi. walk! Hope you have a great evening at the wedding! :)

Michelle... Lookin' forward to hearing from you when you've got some free time! :)

kcwinter... Sorry to hear that you've been recently diagnosed with diabetes, but you definitely have the right idea in wanting to WATP! Good for you! :D Best of luck in your weight-loss journey! :)

Cathy... Sounds like you've had yet another productive day! Just where do you get that energy from?! Don't suppose you'd be willing to send me some, hey?! <--- It's worth a shot! ;)

Anyways girls, I'm off for now... hubby promised me a foot rub! <--- Apparently he's totally unaware of how stinky feet can get in hot running shoes!

Type you girls tomorrow! Hope you're all having a happy, healthy weekend! :D

Well girls today was an awesome day. I took 10 y/o DD to Bible camp about 90 miles from home. This is her third yr going so I'm not worried at all. There was even a girl in her group that did a weekend mother daughter retreat with us last fall. So she was definitely good to go. We ate lunch out just the two of us on our way and stopped at Wal-Mart and treated her to a couple last mminute surprises. When I got home I took 7 y/o DD and 9 y/o DS on a 6 mile bike ride. We rode 3 miles to town where the kids stopped for chix strips and deep fried cheese curds at my sister's place. We visited awhile then loaded up a ch burg and ch balls for my youngest and headed for home. We saw bunnies and geese and stopped to eat wild raspberries along the way. Between a lovely wedding, good church service, time with oldest DD, and a good bike ride I say this wrapped up to be a great weekend. I hope you all had a great weekend as well. TTYT

It's finally HOT in WI. It took a month longer than usual, but it's finally here!!! #1 son has ball practice at 9am. I plan to take the 2 youngest to the library and get them on the computers then I can do 2 miles on the trail. It'll be nice to get it done before the heat index rises too much. Planning an arm workout today. I didn't like how my arms looked in my spaghetti strap dress I wore to the wedding Sat. They looked like 40 y/o arms lol Very pleased this morning. When I took DD to Wally world yesterday they had a rack of jeans marked down to $7. I grabbed a pair of 8 reg thinking they'd be something to work toward. They fit when I tried them on this morning :) I haven't worn a size 8 in 13 yrs. Thanks again girls. You help me stay true to myself and my goals.

As far as my ironing goes don't give me too much credit... I only got some of it done, not all of it. I still have quite a bit to do before I catch up with my pile --- I have gone way too long in between ironing and have been just doing it as I needed to and wanted it all done. Almost there ;)

Your weekend sounded very delightful :) How long will DD be at Bible Camp?

Are you really in a SIZE 8!!!???!!! Double Woo Hoo!!!!!!! You deserve a huge "atta girl!!!" for getting so close. Kristi, you are only a few lbs. away from goal, aren't you ? How excited you much feel about that! I cannot imagine!

*MICHELLE RAE*
So good to see you stop in!
I have missed you too!!
Come back soon...

*MEL*
What unique Wedding pictures! Just Beautiful! They look old, very nice! I am so sorry I haven't been around to let you know sooner... it's been a busy last three days. Do you have a Wedding picture that is close up of you in your gown to share with us? In all the ones you posted all we see is your profile or back --- just wondered if you would post it. Your daughter is a beautiful little girl, seems she takes after her mother ;)

I was wondering if you are taking in enough calories?? I am concerned with how little you eat... I have read in many health books that in order to lose fat and feed the muscle you must eat 5 times a day small portions and making sure to eat 3 oz. protein with grain & veggie carbs 3 of those 5 meals. Anyway, I do hope you are taking care to eat enough... I am happy for you that you are feeling so great and don't want to discourage you, just wanted to post what I have learned in case you didn't know ;) It is working for me (the 5x a day) --- just allot slower then I would like, but it is coming off.

*JANINE*
So good to see you stopping in so often... I think it's great that you are making the time to swim almost everyday. Such good exercise and you sleep so good!!

*CATHY*
WooHoo in keeping up your daily exercise in spite of being so busy... I bet you sleep well at night too!

*SHEILA*
Good for you for sticking to your Curves... I am going tomorrow with my girlfriend, neither of us could go today. We plan to go Tues., Thurs. & Friday this week. I cannot believe the storms that have come through here as well. They are so fast and furious when they come through and the humidity is so bad here you feel like you are in a sauna. You guys too?

Sears is still having some great sales on T-Mills if you want to go just to look and try them out... they usually have them out on the floor and you can try them all out if you want to --- and get in a few miles in the process

Ohhh boyyyy, does your list of veggies sound great from the market! I am making corn-on-the-cob tonight with grilled chops and a balsamic salad. Don't you just love the farmers markets this time of year!!! Wonderful --- I always bring home wayyy too much and end up sharing with the neighbors

It's great that you spent time cheering up your granny... how sweet of you! I also think you did well at your sweeties  home for dinner --- that is a tough situation, I think. I know what you mean about feeling ill after not eating those kinds of foods and then indulging... your body wants to reject it. Joe & I went out with our friends for dinner on Saturday night and all went well till Joe ordered dessert and 4 forks --- it was a very rich dessert! Very good, but rich! Just the few bites I had made me very ill the next day! Not to mention the sugar kept me awake all of Sat. night! I am going to remember that the next time we go out with our friends --- no dessert for me, I was miserable!

Oh my goodness... I bet that the Thomas Kinkade Gallery was awesome to go see! One day I will too, I love his paintings... my SIL has 4 of them hanging in her home. The painting that you described sounded so cool!

*Welcome*
to our new post-ee's :) *KCWINTER* & BBUROUGHS*
I do hope to see you both come back soon --- this is a great thread with such a great group of ladies!!!!

*~*~*

I didn't have a busy day today - it was a much quieter kind of a "catch up" day for me - the weekends are so busy. I did get in 7 miles today! Can you believe that 7! I probably won't be able to move after Curves tomorrow

Well... the boss is home from work, so I must be going. Hope that all the others - not posting but still reading ;) - are doing well!
Hi *LYNNE* & *VICKI* & LAURIE*& *JOJO* We miss you!

HI girls, Sheila, it sounds like you need a pep talk in cutting yourself some slack. Your life is moving in a wonderful direction with this new guy of yours. It's ok to his mom's yummy home cooking and cheering up your grandma is a totally deliteful thing to do. Today is a new day. I bet WI wil go just fine. I have no idea what kind of flower my new avatar is, but I really liked it. Thanks for the cudos. On one hand I'm really frightened about being so close to goal. I have been 3 times before only to sabatage and go back up 10 and even 15 pounds in the past. It's like I enjoy the termoil or something and am afraid to hit goal. Kind of like what now?!? I will say I'm feeling dar stronger than ever in the past though, because I have such an active encouraging group here with the walkers..Thanks again............Sunny, my wekend was deliteful. Thank you. I will be going to watch DD and all the kids at camp this week perform at 2pm on Fri and then I get to bring her home. She just loves it there and am always so glad to see her go, but allready this eve I'm missing her and catch myself praying often that she's enjoying herself and is safe. Some bad storms are to move into her area yet this eve. I hate that thought. I have to "Fully Rely On God" to keep her safe and to let me get some sleep. It sounds like you and Joe had a nice weekend as well. I didn't think "junk" food would ever adversely affect me, but sadly when we went to see Harry Potter 3 last weekend I ate my usual 1/2 tub of lotsa butter popcorn and I was sick all day Mon. My belly just isn't use to that stuff anymore. Bitter sweet that is!!!! Have a good time at Curves tomorrow.........Janine. WTGG !!!.........Hi to everyone else!

Good Morning Gals,
Well, I got in my Curves Class and Stretching and then came home and put in 2 miles on the T-Mill... whew, I feel so tired today too. I am sure I am feeling the miles I put in yesterday :^:

Guess what gang... I think we have a animal :mouse: resident in either our walls or the floors --- I have been hearing this odd noise for the last couple months and what ever it is is making my cats crazy. My Zeppe sits in the hallway just staring at the wall for hours and every once in awhile looks at me as if to say, "aren't you gonna get it?" I think that Joe and I are going on a hunt today when he gets home to see if there's a hole somewhere in the under-flooring where 'it' may be getting in... hopefully it's just something living under our home (& the sound is coming through) and not in it :o

*KRISTI*
I thought you added a new Avatar too, but just wasn't sure --- I really like the blue, but have no idea what flower that is.

I am so glad your DD enjoys camp so much --- my niece is a camp councilor at a Christian Camp in Maine and she just loves the children and her friends there and really looks forward to going each each year. She grew up going there and is now a councilor there - neat, huh.

Ohhh Kristi, don't be frightened of being so close to your goal --- rejoice in it! I think I remember reading in Dr. Phil's book --- how you think controls what you do --- everything begins with positive thought first and then is followed by action. So you just keep thinking "I am deserving and so worth it" :queen: and you won't need to worry about that 10-15 lbs ever again... maybe a 5 lb + or - which you can keep under control. I am so looking forward to the day that I reach my goal. I am so happy for your girl! You be happy for you ;)
You have worked so hard to get there! :cloud9: :cp:

*LYNNE*
So good to see you!!!
I am glad that you stopped in even if it's brief...
at least we know you are doing well and are just very busy living life.

 *Hello's out there to all you other Gals!*
Sure do hope you are making it a Great OP Day :goodvibes

Hey girls! Thanks for all the compliments on my wedding pics -- we were quite impressed with them ourselves. Sunny, I do have some close-up frontal pictures of my dress, I just have to get around to uploading them first. Soon, I promise.

Well, my weekend was a little low on the exercise meter. But I did managed to eat very healthy (low fat, low cal with nothing to drink but water) so I suppose that makes up for it. Then lastnight I joined TOPS so hopefully I'll meet someone there who I can go walking with. :) Trying to stay positive. My WI didn't show any signs of weight-loss so far... but then again, I was just guessing at my current weight before. I knew it was somewhere in the 160-range. I've also only been at this a week now, so I can't really expect to see grand results right away. <--- Although it would be nice if I could!

Thanks, Sunny, for being concerned about just how low my cal. intake is. I am eating several times throughout the day (Spec. K for breakfast, snack of fruit or veggies, light lunch (salad or similar), and a sensible dinner (lastnight included sm. piece of steak, sauteed veggies and brown rice). I haven't yet felt hungry, but if I should ever, I would go grab some fresh cut veggies and munch away. I "save" most of my cals. for dinner so that I can eat a full meal with my family... but again, it's sensible. Low fat, low cal. and unprocessed.

I'm feeling very tired today and am not sure if I will get much exercise in. My dr. has me on some sleeping meds and what was supposed to be a "restful sleep" lastnight resulted in Melissa being awake until 4am. Ack. Then the little boy I take care of showed up at 7:30. Ugh. Hubby was sweet enough to let me stay in bed for an extra hr while he got up to take care of the kids so that helped a little. Tonight will be an early night as I have two kids plus my daughter to take care of tomorrow. Same with Wednesday. Then again, they're only here until 1:30 so I could do my exercise after that...! And I'll have probably caught my second wind by then. :)

Today though, I'm going to do pilates and 50 crunches. We'll see if I have time to fit anything else in. :) I hope you all have a happy healthy day. Good luck with all your daily goals and exercise! :D Type you later!

Good morning to you all,.............Lynne, great to see you back. Can't waite to hear what all you've been up to..............Sheila, Lynne's back yippee lol.............Sunny, Great job getting all that exercise in this morning allready. I talked my hubby into opening the store for me today. That "up and at it" every morn before 6am gets to me. I actually fell back to sleep until after 7:30 and still didn't roll out until 8. By that time the bed was too crowded with little ones to stay in it anyway lol. DS had a game this morning. It didn't go so well. They lost both games. Each game only by 1 run, but they've never lost both before. Yesterday during practice DS got hit by the ball from the pitching machine. He was really gun shy today. Struck out twice and got out at 1st once. Not his usual. I stopped and picked up one of his buddies who doesn't play ball and they're swimming now. It'll still be a good day. Hope you have good hunting (hope it's not a skunk living under there. It could be more than you or Joe bargained for)............I'm planning 3 miles on the rail today.

Thanks Sunny, Cathy, Kristi and Shelia for the warm welcome. I really do appreciate it.

Mel your wedding pictures are lovely!

Cathy - You rock on the exercising. I'm tired just reading about all the exercise you do! How long did it take you to work up to the intensity of your work outs?

I have been doing cardio exercising consistently for about 2 months and 1 week strength training but can still can only do about 2 miles on the treadmill in 45-50 minutes or the WATP 2 miles. My ex-DIL did a work out plan to do cardio for 30 minutes for 6 days a week and to strength train for 5 days a week. I am not use to strength training so it is taking me about 1.5 to 2 hours to exercise. She told me to make sure I try to burn at least 300 calories per work out. I work a 10 hour/4 day work week and have trouble doing the 45-50 minutes on a work day to burn the 300 calories. I get home at 6:15 p.m. and try to fix dinner and do chores around the house. I try to exercise by 10:00 p.m. and be in the bed by 11:00 p.m. I know I can get up earlier, but still struggling with this! Any suggestions on how I can do this?

Well ladies, I must stop here for now! Thanks for all your suggestions in advance!

Have a blessed evening, everyone!

Hey Gang. I haven't fallen off the wagon, just been really busy with a pastor friend of ours that is in from Honduras, and have people staying at my house, so no exercise yesterday or today, but I will get to it.

Brenda, somebody asked me about this today. I have been walking for exercise for almost 15 years, off and on. (I cannot believe it has been that long but it has). Several years ago I found Leslie Sansone's walking tapes and fell in love with them, even tho I still like regular walking too. I don't find what I do all that intense, but the gal I was talking to today could not believe that I do the 3 mile walking tape with 3 lb handweights from start to finish (rather than from the middle like Leslie does), but I do. I don't know I just gradually worked up to that the more I did them. Sometimes it gets to the point that if you don't add the handweights then your heartrate doesn't get up enough to feel like a workout. know what I mean? Of course, I don't do that every day, I just do what I have time to do, the 2 or 3 or 4 mile - whatever. And when I do the 4 mile tape I don't use any weights (yet)! ;)

About suggestions for getting up earlier... I have to be in bed at 10 to get up at 5 and exercise. I also get everything ready the night before - set the alarm, lay the video by the vcr, lay out my walking clothes and tennis shoes, so that I can just slide out of bed and get right into them. no excuses. If I get all that out and ready then I get up and do it. If I'm up really late the night before then I know I won't be able to get up and I don't get everything ready.

You don't have any trouble going to sleep at 11 pm, when you are exercising at 10 pm? I wouldn't be able to go to sleep for hours after exercising but I know a lot of people exercise right before going to bed. I just can't do that. When you go to bed at 11 what time do you get up? if you went to bed at 10 could you get up an hour earlier and exercise then? I know the first few nights it might be hard to fall asleep earlier then 11 if that is what you are use to, but after a few days your body would adjust to it (expecially if you are up an hour earlier and exercising). I sleep so good on the days I exercise. ;)

I don't know if any of this helps, but wanted to at least answer your question.

hugs,
Cathy

Hi *BRENDA*
Good to see you...
I have a schedule very much like Cathy's (only I don't have a job outside our home). I set everything out the night before and I am usually heading for bed by 9:30 and in bed by 10pm... I naturally am awake by 4:30/4:45am --- our alarm doesn't go off till 5:30/6, so if I over sleep I have that. But most times I am up. I like to get my workouts in before my hubby is up, so when he gets up I can enjoy a cup of coffee with him and fix his lunch for him and have chat time. There's not much chatting at night when he comes home, he's so tired... especially after working in the heat we've had these days.

Here's a little tid-bit: I read that if you workout in the mornings you burn more calories and fat then in the evenings --- because you have a full days intake of calories in you when you workout at night, so the body begins to burn that first, but in the morning you have digested all of the calories from the day before, therefore burning more of the stored fat and calories.

I don't know how you work out at night and still sleep well either??? I couldn't. When I use to work for Jazzercise as a registrar I would sometimes workout at 7pm, but just could not fall asleep at night when I got home --- sometimes by 1 or 2am I would finally go to sleep I would be so wound up. I sure couldn't do that today... :^: I'm wishing you well in trying to decide what to do.

*MEL*
Your schedule and meals sound just fine... so many starve and think they will lose weight that way, so I just thought I'd make a mention. I too watch all processed foods. Many do not realized that they are linked to most, if not all, heart attacks and strokes today. And so much of what is on the shelves (& in the store freezers) have it (Hydrogenated & Partially Hydrogenated Oils). I saw this whole program on Discovery Health about it years before it hit the news! So by the time it made the papers and articles in mags. my girlfriend & I were already watching not to buy foods with the processing in the ingred. label at the grocery.

I look forward to seeing more of your wedding pictures

Why are you on sleeping meds, Mel?? Are you not sleeping well at night? I bet it is so hard when you have children... to get that nights sleep you so need. I do hope you begin to feel better real soon! And are able to get a good nights sleep - it makes a world of difference.

*~*~*

I must be going... Joe is home and hungry (me too ;) ).
I am making turkey burgers, tossed balsamic salad, steamed veggies & a baked potatoe for him... simple, but tasty :hun:
TTFN...

Sunny, I totally understand your concern with my low cal. intake. And I thank you (again) for that! :D It's awful that people sometimes think that by starving themselves, they can attain their goal weight. But in fact, the body then goes into starvation-mode and stores everything as fat. I found this out at a very young age. This time around, I just want to eat healthy. :)

Good for you for also keeping away from processed foods. They are really very harmful... regardless of how good they may taste. We're also going to start eating as much organically grown food as possible (we're convinced that that's why children are developing at such an early age... all the hormones that are put into fruits, vegetables and meat).

As for the sleeping meds, indeed, I suffer from insomnia. Have for years. But it has gotten increasingly worse the last few months. Today was hideous -- zero energy, two kids to chase after, the whole bit. I wouldn't be surprised if I passed out in my plate of dinner tonight. Ah well... at least I'd be getting to bed at a decent hour!

I did manage to get my pilates in as well as some weight-training. Not much but it'll have to do for today. I need rest. :( Talk to you girls tomorrow. Hope you're all keeping well! :)

Good evening everyone!

Wow, just reading all of your posts makes me tired. I feel very inspired when I read what you all are doing. Now if I could keep that feeling long enough to get myself back on track.

I walked 2 miles on the treadmill tonight and rode the exercise bike 6 miles.

Totals for July: 7 miles walked and 18 miles biked.

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Brenda, The only suggestion I can give you is....make taking care of yourself a PRIORITY. If this means everybody elses supper is an hr later than they're use to, so be it. Make time for YOU!! You are worth it. Good luck............Cathy, Sunny, Mel, As always you guys are doing great and giving really good advice......... Mrs. Beasley, Your numbers are looking great. Keep up the good work!.........No Sheila, tell me it isn't so :( I so look forward to reading your posts. I want to know all about your new boyfriend etc....Maybe you can pop into your local library a couple times a week or something. (just a suggestion, no pressure) If not, please continue to tell us about you even if you can't always keep up with us. We're here for you girl!!.............My life has become NOISEY. The workmen showed up yesterday and started residing my house. I'm so excited. My home has looked like an old farmhouse for so long. Which is what it is. Over a hundred yrs actually. I went with light maple. I'm leaning toward wine colored shutters and doors. Any advice? Due to this I probably won't be doing any strength training for awhile. I only really like to do it around 9am and I'm not going to have them watching me. I'd feel foolish!!! I'm taking the children to the library today so they can use the computers while I walk the trail. Planning 4 miles today........ Have a great day girly girls!!!!!

The New Chick

Thank you for having me! Well I am married (now 1yr. & 7mnths), I don't have any babies and that is really one of the reasons for my determination to lose weight. My husband and I want to start trying to have a baby :bb: next year, and I want to get rid of the weight I have now before I add more on. I eat 3 meals a day along with 2 snacks (no bread, sweets, fast food, or fried anything). I drink so much water I hear the ocean in my ears when I sit down and stand up  ........I work out 6 days a week walking for 30-55 minutes, and I would like to start weight training but my thinking is because of my weight if I start using weights I'm going to bulk up instead of lose, but I could be wrong.....If anyone has some information I could use on weight training it would be greatly appreciated.....

Hi Ladies, hope everyone is having a great day so far.

Thanks to all for responding to my question.

Cathy, I too think that If I don't use weights with WATP tapes that I don't get a good work out. But I really like using the T-Mill, I think I get a better work out.

Sunny, thanks for the tidbit. It make sense.

Yes, sometimes I do have trouble sleeping at night. But have just got use to exercising at night because of time. I am seriously thinking about getting up an hour earlier to exercise. i just have to change my mindset.

Kristi, thanks for you encouragement. I will make taking care of myself a priority. Yes  , I am worth it.

Will walk 2 miles this evening!

Have a great evening!

Hey girlies a quick post from me!! I did 30 minutes of aqua exercise today in our pool. The water was sooo warm and enjoyable I didnt want to get out except I was beginning to shrivel up lol.

Sunny enjoy your supper and way to go on those 3 miles today!! I'm going to do a bike ride after dark when it cools down a little. It was 90 degrees here today!! How is your garden doing? We have beautiful lilys (I think) blooming right now, they are bright orange and tall thick stalks but they are just gorgeous!! Wait til you hear all about the anniversary night I'm planning with DH!! Sooo romantic, I think anyway lol.

Kristi all that remodeling sounds sooo fun!! We are going to be doing some home improvement too when my inlaws are up visiting, we are putting in a privacy fence and a brick patio, plus hubby and FIL are going to frame up the basement for a storage room and seperate laundry room the master bedroom down there is already framed up and has the ingress/egress windows we just need to frame up the bathroom and then the rec room. Its going to be wonderful!! You are soooo close to goal girl I'm excited for you!!!

Sheila - I do hope that you will keep posting even if not regularly with us, I htink you are a great source of inspiration to everyone and I shall miss you if you were to leave us :(

Abirdee - Welcome to the group!! This is an absolutely wonderful group of people and I love them dearly and I'm sure you will too!!!

Vickie you are doing awesome as always!!! I wish I could keep up with you lol this summer is sooo busy and I'm glad about that because I spent all last year in bed pretty much so I'm glad I can take the kids outside to play and to the park, library etc...I'm so glad you are doing so well with your exercise.

Mel - I'm so sorry to hear about your insomnia, I'm the opposite of you lol I can sleep almost any time almost anywhere lol. Way to go with the exercise!!

Cathy - Hey girl!!! I hope all is well with you!! How have you been feeling, thyroid wise? I really need to make an appointment to see the endo I want them to test my T3 and I bet they'll find that I'm deficient with my T3 as well as my free T4 this hormone crap is depressing and I wish I could just have it figured out and be done with it lol. Hubby is getting snipped next month so we won't have to worry about me going on birth control so no more weight gain from BC pills, patches, rings, or shots lol. Thank heavens. We decided that if we want to have another baby down the road that we would adopt a child, and provide a life for it that it may not have otherwise had. Lol sorry for going off on a tangent.

Well I better get going I need to eat some supper! I will ttyl!!
Michelle

mrs.beasley 07-14-2004 09:05 PM

Evening all!

As usual I really didn't feel much like exercising but then I read everyone else's posts and decided to do something.
So I walked 2mi. on the tm and hit the bike for 6mi.

Totals for July: 9 miles walking, 24 miles biking.

Now if I could just get a handle on the eating. I tend to be obsessive/compulsive. I either am obsessively exercising or complusively eating. Right now it's eating and not exercising and gaining weight. Oh well, I'll just have to keep trying. :dizzy:

You all seem to be doing great --- keep it up!!!! Have a good night!

cathyxxx 07-15-2004 11:28 AM

Good Morning Gang!

I finally drug my tired self out of bed this morning and did a 30 minute 2 mile WATP w/3lb hand weights! :cp:

July Miles = 18
Strength = 2

cathy

OOPS! I almost forgot the most important thing of all - guess what! I have lost 5 lbs in a week since starting the phentermine! :D I don't think I have ever lost 5 lbs in a week in my whole entire life! I am so thrilled! I know its probably just water, but I don't care, my scale has moved down 5 lbs! yippeee! I know (and understand why) people don't like diet pills, but I'm afraid it was the BOOST that I needed. I think that they speed up my very slow metabolism, and they enable me to keep my calories at 1000 calories a day (rather than 1200) and that seems to be the number for me to lose a few pounds - even tho I was beginning to wonder if anything was gonna make that happen. But still......down 5 lbs!

Abirdee 07-15-2004 11:39 AM

Good Morning,

I only walked 2 miles yesterday, but today I know I can do 3.......Wish me luck!
I will have my one month weigh in on 07/21/04 and I'm hoping for a total of 10lbs. for the month. I will start weight training starting my second month, any suggestions on how many pounds I should start out with?

cathyxxx 07-15-2004 11:53 AM

Michelle - I almost forgot to answer your question. Thyroid wise (low thyroid symptons) I seem to be feeling much better, less brain fog, fatigue, hairloss, body temperature is up, etc. All of that is better, but I just wasn't losing any weight, and that is why I wanted my doc to up the Armour Thryoid to 3 grains a day (instead of 2) thinking I would continue to feel better and maybe get things up to whatever they needed to be to lose some weight. But I do feel so much better then I did in October when I started on thryoid meds - wow - what a difference it makes.

If you T3 is still low, you may need Armour Thyroid since it treats the T3 and T4. If I remember right, the med you are taking mostly works on the T4. I'm sure you will talk to your doc about everything.

how are you feeling?

hugs,
cathy
