Hi everyone!
I just bought an elliptical for home (Nordic Trak) and am looking into home gyms. I'm doing Body For Life training and am interesting in getting high intensity workouts! Great thread! Susan |
Motivation
Deb:
Oh, I KNOW you can totally lose that last 13 before New York! How neat! Where are you going in NY? I was born there, in Manhattan and lived my first 6 years in the state! I'm sorry about the plateau...I can't wait to get to one myself...after I've lost a ton of weight! Maybe that new Power Walk tape will do it. Sometimes they say just a switch in activities will do it! I think I may have gained a bit so far this week...I'm really anxious about my trip to PA next week...My goal is to work out every day while I'm there and just maintain...they have SO many good restaurants there in Philadelphia...mmmmm I'm so glad I don't live there! I found a couple of people on the board who are from Philadelphia and they've recommended some great grocery stores and restaurants to visit while I'm there! Susan: Welcome to the board! It's a bit slow today, but we all have other lives too, of course! There is a great group of ladies here, and if you stick around, you'll be able to meet and get to know each one. We follow different diet plans, but have one thing in common - we are the QUEENS of Cardio!! Ha...I'm an elliptical user myself. That's great that you are starting a home gym. All I have so far are dumbells! May I ask how much a home elliptical costs? I'd love to be able to have one at home...I could use it watching TV in my underwear...I would never have an excuse not to at least attempt to exercise, and I could do it whenever I want and not have to adhere to the Club's schedule. My diet has been slipping a bit lately..but at least I've got my exercise every day, keeping me sane. I'm going tonite. I have SUCH a busy weekend coming up. Just because it's Easter doesn't mean there's no homework! Plus, I have lots to do before I leave for PA on WEDNESDAY!!! YAY! Has anyone ever eaten at the Waffle House? I told myself for some reason that the next road trip I go on, I'm gonna stop at a Waffle House because they are all over the place. I hope it's not all greasy...I'm sure I could find SOMEthing on the menu. I'm also excited about White Castle. Some people think it's gross, but there are none around where I live and I just love it! I saw on a site that a hamburger there is 2pts because they are so tiny, and small waffle fries are 2pts also....I am looking forward to it!! Anyway, gotta get back to work. Womaninlove, Denise, Anne, Emmy: Hope you've had a great OP day! If not, I still hope your day was good anyway! Bye! I'll try to check in while I'm in PA. |
Girlie get out of here!! You were born in Manhattan?? What part?? I am from Brooklyn. Lived there the first 26yrs of my life.. My hubby is from Manhattan, actually the Upper West Side. What a small world.. I had to laugh when you mentioned White Castle. My hubby & I were talking about it the other day. We used to get them in NY with the fries...YUMMY! I'm sure you are going to have a blast in PA. Have a safe trip!!! :)
Susan welcome :) Hope you all have a good night! Debbie |
HA
Debbie, I have no idea what part of Manhattan! See, my parents lived by West Point, NY...I was a total preemie and was very small (less than 2lbs, they say!) and the Army hospital didn't have the technology I guess to accept me, so they rushed my mom in Labor to a hospital in NY (1978). It was called Sloane Babies hospital or something? I kept going back for the next 7 years of my life for follow up care, then moved to Philadelphia. I'd love to be able to find the hospital. Have you heard of it? I'd love to be able to find my nice doctor who dealt with me for 7 years. She took pics every year, and I'd love to inform her of my progress throughout the years (ha..I've gained that weight that I needed when I was born!! Ha!). I've looked the hospital up on the net and it looks like it's a part of Columbia University??? I don't know!
So anyway, I don't know much about NY...I was too young. We really lived in Tappan, NY in military housing. No one's ever heard of that and then they say, "Japan?!" and I'll say "No, TAppan!" and it gets all confusing...so I just tell them I was born in Manhattan! Okay, that's my story! Have a good night (or morning!). Girlie |
Oh, Deb...
Do you have the NY accent? If you do, I'll have to read all your posts with the
"New Yawk way"....ha! Girlie |
Hey Girlie, I don't have a thick NY accent but I do have a bit of an accent. Must be the being Spanish & being from NY (I don't have a Spanish accent :) ). You can ask Denise  she's heard me talk..... I do say get outta here...can't help that.... :D I think it's more the attitude  actually than the accent... I asked my hubby about the hospital you were born. He said he knows of a Sloane Kettering hospital (I don't know if I spelled that right) but I don't know if it's one & the same.
See ya! Debbie |
Smile!
Thanks, Deb! That is the hospital I've seen on the internet. I'm gonna check there some more to see if there's anyone I can email about it. Plus, I might be needing documention from them regarding my birth. I have a birth certificate - the ones from NY look funny..it's just a small piece of paper. My friend went to get her passport and needed more info than her birth certificate. I hope I don't have a hard time. My Pookie is taking me to England in August! He says lots of the women in England are thin and you don't see a lot of people who are overweight, so that's a great incentive for me to be way closer to my goal by then. I don't want them to look at me and think, "Fat Americans!". That's cool that your Spanish! I'm half black and half Jap! Ha!
Have a good night! Girlie |
Hello everybody
Hi! I'm back from my little love holiday! What a nice time we had! I did not go to the gym today, but I am back on the wagon tomorrow morning! I had to be at a stupid training for work this morning boooor-ing!
It's nice to see everyone is still plugging along though. Sounds like we have all had a rough week on our programs (me too! my eating has been a little, um liberal.) We are going to a fancy steakhouse this Saturday and then to karaoke. I'm gonna have to be careful... Girlie: Sorry I have been absent today...so hectic! I will email soon! I bet you are really getting excited about your trip!!! Susan: Hello! Welcome! I admire you for doing the BFL program. It seems difficult, but I have seen amazing before and afters...I'm sure you will be one of them!! You go girl! Deb: I hate plateaus!!! They are so frustrating! It sounds like you are sticking with it and not giving up on yourself though! Thatta girl! You can and will do it! Wait to you reveal the new you to NY!!! Anne: You are so funny! BTW, what is a freerunner?? Emmy, Denise...hope you guys are doing great! Thinking about you! Everyone have a wonderful Easter weekend! Womaninlove  |
FreeRunner
Gosh how do I describe it. LOL Well it has pedals that are off the ground and you slip your feet in so they are secure. You pick the program you want, manual, fat burning etc, time etc and basically you run. Your feet are secure so there is no impact on your lower joints. It also has hand thingys you can use or fold them down if you don't. This is made by StairMaster. I get a much better work out with this. Boy it makes you work. :)

Anne:
Sounds a little like the elliptical machine (which I still can't seem to get on...my man loves it though!) I feel like I'm getting into a good groove with the treadmill and still increasing intensity of workouts, but I know I will tire of it eventually, so I'm on the prowl for new machines... Thanks for the info! Have you been doing it long? (I have to go to bed now, :dz: because if I don't I won't be able to get up early to work out! Everyone have a wonderful night! I'll be back tomorrow!) womaninlove |
We're burning up!
Looks like we need a new thread started as we are on FIRE! Woo Hoo!
See you at Cardio Queens Unite #2!!!!!! womaninlove :) |
Hello everyone !! What a great POSITIVE thread you have going!
When I first started WW i was walking outdoors at a track with friends and as school started ( i have 3 jobs) it started to dwindle down to once a day and then once a week instead of 3-5 times a week. I am hoping to gain some motivation( kick me in the rear) to get started again. I walk at the track, do a Leslie Sansone tape, I also have a treadmill and a air walker and tae bo tapes. So you see there is no excuse except self-motivation. Please don't be offended if my posts only say what exercise I have done that day, and not individual comments. I have little time to post since I work so much. I gain my motivation from seeing what others have done. |
Hello
Hello Everyone!! Just thought I would check in and see how everyone is doing!! Hopefully, everyone had a great Easter!!
I received my new Leslie Sansone video today and will be trying that one out tomorrow. At least I will have 2 to alternate with now. I have been staying within my points. I made the 0 point veggie soup today it was actually good. That soup would really come in hand on those no points left days!! I will be checking in later. Hope everyone is doing well!! It is getting cold again here in Ohio. I am freezing!!! I hope Spring gets here and stays here soon!! |
