  • I know there are SO many great videos out there, but I tend to stick to something that I am totally familiar with...I regularly do Gilad's Step and Tone Workout (uses a step, and weights) and Gilad's Split Routine, Volume 2 for Toning. The first one is great for cardio and toning; the second very tough but very effective for toning and shaping/sculpting.

It's tempting to try other videos, to challenge myself and keep the interest high; but I myself am fine with staying with the same ones; and I can add weight to take myself "to the next level".

I also got my videos from the collage site.

Good luck! It's so great to see the change and definition in one's body when one really sticks to the program and puts the effort/sweat into it. Just today, when I was doing the Split Routine, and feeling the BURNING in my thigh muscles, but was looking down at them and seeing a curve that had NEVER EVER been there before...that's when you know it's worth the effort!!!
  • Has anyone ever tried any Tammilee Webb videos? I have her Tighter Assets Weight Loss in the mail on the way to me, and if I like it, was thinking of getting her Cardio Blast as well. The ones I use now are The Firm (I don't remember which one, it's my mom's, like 20 years old but we both love it) and Tae Bo (the next step up after Basic with Billy Blanks)
  • I love Tamilee's "I want that Body," workout. Its totally complete, concise and gets the job done in a decent amount of time!
  • I really like Tamilee Webb's cardio workouts-Fit to the Hits Motown Moves and Fit to the Hits Rock Hard. Check collage.com for video clips.

  • Hi All
Lots of great suggestions. A few quick questions. What's pilates? What type of aerobic activity is better, aerobics without a step or with one? What's a good step video? Is there a Canadian website to buy videos on-line? What are the Walk Off The Pounds videos? How about a good toning video? I guess it wasn't just a few questions, sorry.

  • Pilates is similar in many ways to yoga, in that it focuses on building core strength, via a variety of exercises that primarily use your own weight or force as resistence.

Neither type of aerobics is objectively better than the other: Step aerobics is higher intensity, but therefore carries a higher risk of injury.

For toning, I highly recommend The Firm.
  • Specifically "The Firm: Body Sculpting System" (not System 2 -- though I'm sure that's good too, but it requires more equipment and I haven't personally tried it yet).
  • I am a video-holic! I have at last count 107 work out videos!!! I get them all off of Half.com too - if anyone is looking for them cheap! But my favorites are usually the Crunch series! They are so energetic. The hardest ones to me are anything by Karen Voight - man that woman knows how to wear you down. All of the different Firm videos are really good too and I really enjoy Leslie Sansone's walking videos for an easy cardio that gets your heart rate up a little but not much of the jarring impact. I'm always on the lookout for the newest videos out.
  • Check out www.cathe.com.

She will torture you and you will love it.
  • Does anyone do the callanetics videos? I used them long ago and just got 2 of the quick ones again. Originally long ago I used the Callanetics 10 years younger in 10 years and loved it but life took over and exercise fell by the way side!
I also love the Denise Pilates, but only did it once, it made my chest feel weird, like I had breathed in a bunch of super cold air!
Anyway I would like to hear abotu the callanetics from real people, do they work as well as they claim to?
  • Thanks Bicker, Becjo, and Mindi for the info. Wow, you have 107 tapes, that's impressive. I have 4 and I find them either irritating or I'm tired of them. I'll ahve to try the websites you suggest and order myself a few. Thanks again.

My favorite are Weight Watchers newest set......especially the high intensity......if you do it with 5 pounds weight you earn 4 ( well-deserved) activity points in a mere 30 minutes. Also they feature ww members in their 20s 30s 40s & even 60's!

I am also a Leslie Sansone and Richard Simmons fan so it takes a little while to get used to the new tape but now I am hooked!

Good luck...just move it more if nothing else!

  • I love yoga with Rodney Yee as well, and Tae Bo is definitly a classic. My new favorite is Jim Karas' video- I actually got it free when I joined his website (jimkaras.com) but I know you can buy it too. It's a great full body workout!
  • Still goin' at it!
This is awesome! I started this thread in July, and ya'll are still posting great ideas and suggestions--I love it!
I actually haven't really tried any more exercise videos since I asked for suggestions--but I think I will be doing that in the future (my husband & I may be moving to the midwest next year). So weather-wise, I'll need videos in the winter for variety! Right now I'm still using the gym (I can go for free through my job!) and walking/jogging outside.
You guys are giving LOTS of great suggestions--thanks!
