Default Exercise more intense after hrm

So it's been almost 2 weeks since I've received my polar and my work outs have been intense, I believe it's because I see what I'm burning or some days the lack there of and it makes me strive and go harder, has this happened to anyone? I'm concerned there will be a day that I don't burn as much as another day and I'll feel let down. It hasn't happened yet, I hope it doesn't. I Gotta admit I'm sort of addicted to my polar, and the workouts I've been doing since.

I noticed a similar reaction after I got my fitbit one, I started walking a lot more just to see a higher number at the end of the day, and climbing more stairs to see the flights climbed go up, etc. I really want to get a hrm for that reason, but they're so so expensive! Do you think it was worth the cost?

I'm a big fan of training with a HRM.... and I've definitely gone a little further or a little harder than I planned during workouts just so I could burn more calories... But I do try to avoid that now because I found that it was being counter-productive and I was training too hard on days when I should have been taking it a bit easier... So I really just try to focus on keeping my HR in the right zone for the workout that I'm doing... but I won't lie... I still keep an eye on how many calories I'm burning and I still secretly hope that it's going to be more than I think its going to be...
