I'm so excited! I just got back from running 9 miles - that's my longest run ever. I took a new route and had to climb 4 really big hills and I still did the 9 in 1:22:53! That's a 9:13 pace!
Hope everyone else has a great run day!! |
Made it 8.25 miles this past Saturday- my longest run yet! Avg. 9:30/mile. I bought a running water pack - the trail mix one it's called so that took some getting used to - I kind of wish I'd tried it on a shorter run first but I need it for the long runs so...who knows! I'm so happy to have hit 8 miles. About 12 weeks until my 1/2 marathon so I think I'm in pretty good shape w/ the increasing mileage!
Congrats on your distance Cherry! You are inspirational. Deva - I think my dizzy-what-not was a fluke or something - It's gone away - I went to the doc, he did bloodwork & it showed my body was fighting a virus so I guess it was a temporary thing... |
hey ladies! I ran my last long run training last saturday (19k) and it was great. I managed to hit a 6:50 min/km in 2:10:12. My first half is officially in 12 days from today Wwaaaaaaah!!
|
turbo; you rock! great job can't wait to hear
cherry pie; you keep getting faster! denfense;so are you All of you amaze me!!! as for me another 6.2 miles i have a 10k on 4th of july am its super HOT here will be 100 that morning my ankle is still hinky was good after massage bad after and during todays run |
Ran two miles today... Wanted to run three, but I knew I wasn't feeling that great. I will aim for three on Wednesday.
|
devadiva : I'm glad to hear your ankle is feeling better. At what time is your race on the 4th of july? better be early to skip the heat! ;)
Drivenbyambition : 2 miles is better than 0 mile ;) Good job! *** I had my last interval training this morning, did 8k with 4x800 between 5:00/km-5:30/km, and finished in 48:02. I think it's my best time so far for a 8k. |
Ran 4.25 miles last night - did a fast 5k 7:58/mile avg then 8:45/mile avg for another 1.2 miles to the gym. I was feeling fast last night if that makes sense - wanted a speed workout rather than distance so it felt good.
|
Had a 5k on Sunday. Finished in 32:02, which is better than I expected. I was going for 35:00 and I had literally no sleep the night before because I was up delivering a baby.
|
Got the 10k 4th july race route ran it this morning....GEE it seemed so much longer than my usual but low and behold GARMIN doesn't lie! But boy I was like 2 min slower...my ankle is still hurting so am sure thats part of it guess I'll see what I run it in on Fri?????
|
I waited to run tonight until the sun started to go down and the temp had finally dropped to 90...it was still a very hot, sticky run. 4 miles at 11.25 min mile average. About 2.5 miles in my legs where done for the night so I had to trudge through the last 1.5 miles, but I was still happy with it.
|
Also tried to wait for the sun to go down but it was still 93 degrees and SO humid at 9 pm!!! Made it 3 miles in 26:30 and then finished with 1/2 mile jog - go away excessive heat/humidity!!!
|
Devadiva, nice move and doing the route of your race in advance, it's always good to know what's coming. Maybe you could give a few days break to your ankle to see how it goes? Hope it will get better soon.
Defenestrator : Awesome time, especially in those conditions!! Great work! Lm3898 : Aaaaaaarhh, heat and running. It's super hot and humid here too, I feel you! *** Got my 11k done this morning, started early to get done with it before the heat, but it was already 25 at 6AM with the temperature and humidity going up and up... I was with a collegue who does not stand the heat very much. I could have pushed it in the end but I sticked with her, and we finished it in 1 hour 21 minutes. Much more slower that I'm used to but it was already good we got through it with this HOT temperature |
Everyone sounds like they are doing great. This heat is definitely making things a bit harder.
Today I'm going to try to get in a 2 mile run without breaks then walk 25 minutes. I have to slowly get myself pack onto long distance running shape. |
Well taking a break from running to rest ankle.Rode my bike up (3 miles)700 ft think I could of run it faster! Then a quick trip back down to Valley and rode hard another 4 miles.Really felt strong think running is making my legs stronger!
TURBO think your race is this weekend?? Good times to you! |
Hey ladies! Sorry I've been such a poor thread leader. I'm actually popping in to say that I need someone to take over the thread. I've got so much going on right now I just can't seem to find the time to nurture this thread the way I once did. It was a great run, I think it's been clost to two years and I've loved all the support and advice I've received here, but I am unable at this time to continue it.
I hope someone will pick it up and keep it going. I'll still be running and missing you all. Keep up the great work and happy running! |
Hi ladies! Hope your weekend went well,
Ncuneo: thanks for all you've done with the thread. I've never led a thread before...what has to be done? Deva: good job taking it easy. 10k Sat. Morning with a 1/2 mile uphill in 53:50 which I'm really happy with! |
I hurt my back this winter and just got out for my first jog this morning. My shins gave out before my lungs. :) From past experience, my shins will tighten up the first week I am back to jogging, then I can start working on distance and or speed.
ncuneo - you are such an inspiration, keep running and pop in now and again to say hello! |
Ncueno : thanx for what you've done for the thread. Pop in to say Hi from time to time! ;)
Devadiva : Good job on the biking!! lm3898 : OMG that is an awesome 10k time!!!! Congrats! envelope : even if the shins decided something else, it's cool to know the lungs are still holding on! ;) *** hey runners! I was away this weekend but I still managed to score my last long run training (an 11k Taper) and a 6k this morning. Only another 6k to do on thursday and than it's RACE TIME!! half marathon only 4 days awaaaay! |
Had an awesome run today. Cool weather helped. 2 new PR's - 6 miles 52:01 and my fastest mile ever 8:28. I remember when 10 mm felt like sprinting!
|
Still biking rode up 1'000 ft in 3 .3
miles I have a MT Bike so a bit of resisitance on the pavement good workout Fast ride down, You gals are all doing Great! I MISS running! |
Good job Cherry! I agree the cooler weather helped SO much with the run - I love ideal conditions!
Deva - when can you start running again?? Turbo - GOOD LUCK!! I'm still training for my first 1/2 in Sept. so you'll have to let me know how it goes & if you were happy with your training plan! Did 5.2 miles in 43:36. My legs, arms, shins etc. felt great [right foot started to fall asleep] but joint-wise etc. it felt like a great run! The only issue was my breathing- it was really TIGHT despite my inhaler puff I always do pre-run: it almost felt like it did when I used smoke and try to run...not 100% sure why...maybe I'm having more allergy problems than I thought...regardless I pushed though & am happy with the final time esp. as it included two hills. Everyone planning on running during the upcoming heat wave that's about to start - good luck! Stay cool & hydrated whenever possible! |
Nothing to it IM, just start a new thread each month and check in as often as you can to keep people motivated to participate :)
|
Well, I do really like this thread - is there anyone on here that wants to do it??
If there isn't anyone else willing to do so, I'm down for the cause...any other takers? |
Go for it lm! Be our leader :))
|
Im PLEASE that would be great
As for me running I am waiting for my ankles to quit hurting, massage therapist said it was an irrataited achilles so I am taking it slow......I have a run on july 4th so we will see. On another note have been pretty nder the weather with pain in center of my chest under breast bone since last Fri pretty steady, went to Dr seems might have a bacterial infection in my stomach waiting on blood work....ITS REALLY PAINFUL...Couldn't even get in a bike ride today.Off to try and work again in the morn wish me luck! |
Go for it, lm3898! You'd be a great leader! ;)
devadiva : I think you're more than ready for your race on the 4th, take it easy on the ankle and keep us updated! stomach bug suuuucks :( *** got my last training done this morning, 6k in 40min21sec. Half is just 2 days away! |
Deva - I'm so sorry you are having all these ailments - that sounds absolutely terrible. I hope you are ok in time for your race & take it easy in the meantime!
Turbo - you seem really ready for your first half - I can't wait to see how it goes. Thanks for the kind words ladies - I'll start the July blog on Sunday & we can see how it goes - if at any time, anyone has a strong desire to take over, that's totally fine w/ me too though. I'm excited! Woke up at 4:45 a.m. today and could not fall back asleep [I usually wake up at 6:30] so I decided to put it to good use and went for a run at 5:30 a.m. I forgot how nice out it is in the morning - so quiet and such great weather. Got in 4.3 miles in 35:29. |
3.4 miles with the BF as my running buddy last night. I didn't walk at all. I know if I were by myself I would have. Proof that it's MENTAL and I can do better!!!
|
