Exercise 250 hours in 2012: February hours (aprox. 20 hours)

Welcome all... People are always welcome to join. If you join In February, you can jump in for the whole 250 hours (making up approximately 21 hours) or you can join us now to do 230 hours from now until the remainder of the year.

If you count minutes, that is 150000 minutes for 250 hours, or 13750 minutes from February 1st until the rest of the year for approx. 230 hours.

You decide what exercise you want to do. There is no passing judgement on what people consider exercise as movement is movement in my book!

Good luck and welcome leap year February!

berryblondeboys 02-01-2012 11:07 AM

I somehow managed to get my hours for January despite the slow start. Doing a bike ride today and the double express class of strength training and step. I love that combo!

Slim CB 02-01-2012 11:10 AM

This morning I did a Power Aerobics class. It should have been for 60 mins, but the instructor turned up late and only gave us 48 mins. I made up the other 12 though...

Summary

Power Aerobics - 48 mins
Stairmaster - 5 mins
Elliptical - 7 mins

Total - 60 mins

Talina 02-01-2012 11:12 AM

I really should make 250 hours of exercise my goal. I've been seeing the thread all throughout January. I think I can talk myself into exercising in *fun* ways more easily! I should have a few hours from January to start, I just need to count them up.

So I'm taking the plunge. I *will* exercise more regularly and get 250 hours in this year!

You are much stronger willed than I am. I would have skipped the 12 minutes and promised to do something more later and probably wouldn't manage to do it. Good for you!

jenjen 02-01-2012 11:28 AM

I'm going to jump in for at least February. I should try to get 250 hours in for the year though.

Today I did 1 hr of weight training and 10 mins on the eliptical (warm up). I'm walking a 1/2 marathon on Sunday so that will be a good 3+ hrs.

Welcome to all the newbies!

tavvy 02-01-2012 11:47 AM

I'm behind after January but will definitely be making up some time in Feb! Thanks for an awesome challenge!

berryblondeboys 02-01-2012 11:51 AM

Yay! So glad to see new people joining in! It's never to late to start on healthier habits. I like the 250 hours/15000 minutes, because it seems moderate and achievable.

That equals out to be. Exercising 5 days a week for 50 weeks of the year, so there is wiggle room for around holidays, if you get sick, vacation, etc. that is what we should strive for for life, not even just for weight loss.

So, if you all new folks want to shoot for the whole 250 hours, go for it, but don't burn out trying to get there either... It's much better to do some consistently than a lot here and there inconsistently.

Ok.... Off to go walk to my son's school for volunteering... That 15 minutes and one mile right there - squeezing in exercise in normal, every day life. Gorgeous day here in Maryland.

SanityNow 02-01-2012 12:40 PM

OK. 20 hours, 1,200 minutes...I'm in for the whole year; focusing on the 20 hours in Feb. I'm behind for the year, but that may catch up naturally as I get more and more fit. And I'll count it as minutes instead of hours to encourage me to start doing little bits throughout the day and not only think of it as an 'everything or nothing' thing.

takingcontrol 02-01-2012 04:42 PM

Hi all!

I'm adding 90 minutes to my running total today, 60 minutes of pump and 30 minutes walking with my friend and her baby, I even offered to push the pram up the hills, that wouldn't have happened previously!

1290 minutes done to date

Keep moving everyone :)

berryblondeboys 02-01-2012 08:40 PM

Woohoo! two hours today. So easy when the day is great!

osaunt 02-01-2012 11:59 PM

I'm in!

I'm getting back on track after a 50% regain:( Pity party is OVER- it's time for action!

Yesterday: 20 minute walk @lunch
7300 total steps

Today: 30 minute WATP
20 minute C25K Week 1
9628 total steps

I hope to make the 250 hour goal for 2012, but I'm going to start by focusing on accomplishing the monthly goals. Happy February All:D

PaintedButterfly 02-02-2012 09:26 AM

I'd like to try and join this :). I think I'd like to just try the 20 hours in February first though cos if I plan too much at once I get disheartened at how much I have to go and give up.

berryblondeboys 02-02-2012 09:35 AM

Ah, so nice to see more people jumping in!

I blogged today about how I noticed last night's double express class (two 45 minute classes) seemed easier yesterday and I wonder if it's because I had eaten more food this week and if perhaps I've felt sluggish before because I was pushing myself too hard on too few calories. It's something I'll keep observing. Makes me glad I log my food and exercise!

Loseit 02-02-2012 12:40 PM

29 hrs in Jan and another 75 minutes yesterday... Need to get my butt off the couch for today's exercise!! Watching a hip-hop workout from beach body...I know!! I shud be doing it instead of watching !!!

takingcontrol 02-02-2012 01:38 PM

Haha loseit, I so have that problem of watching rather than doing the videos sometimes! Bizarrely they always seem far worse when you watch them rather than do them!

Just 20 mins swimming for me today, it was far too cold to do any longer, think the council need to sort the heating out!

SanityNow 02-02-2012 02:44 PM

Hi Melissa, great going for 2 classes...awesome! I think you're on to something about the food. We do want to cut calories, but we need nourishment to exercise. I've been trying to follow my hunger, and I've been eating somewhat less than usual with much less 'junk'. I find that sometimes, if I'm not careful with eating good clean food, I get tired. I notice it after I've had a heavier food day and wake up the next morning feeling good.

PaintedButterfly 02-02-2012 04:12 PM

Well first hour completed!

30 mins C25K
30 mins walking (5000 steps)/heavy farmwork

1 hour done, 19 more to go!

Loseit 02-02-2012 04:51 PM

29 hrs 75 minutes + 105 minutes today for 32 hrs even!!!

berryblondeboys 02-02-2012 07:47 PM

So, back from Dance Sport Endurance. Think Zumba, but all the Ballroom dances, not just Latin dances. It was good for me because I can't take the bouncing, jumping of the Zumba classes because I have bladder control issues (thanks to huge babies). It was a light aerobioc workout day. Like 2 or 3 songs got my heart rate really up ther, but nothing like spinning or step aerobics does. But it was a good one to do a day after a more intense workout day.

Yoga tomorrow.

osaunt 02-02-2012 11:50 PM

Checking in...

a 20 minute lunchtime walk

8406 total steps

I'll have some catching up to do minutes-wise as the months progress, but today I'm grateful for any/all extra steps. It was just one of those days:)

Slim CB 02-03-2012 08:53 AM

Got in 95 minutes this morning....

Mixed Aerobics - 60 mins
Treadmill - 35 mins

berryblondeboys 02-03-2012 09:12 AM

Here's a bit more info on dance sport endurance if you are interested.

I think it is still mainly a DC area thing, but he's trying to grow it.

Total - 1,195 mins

PaintedButterfly 02-03-2012 02:13 PM

Did 30 minutes hill walking today.. but only did 3400 steps which is frustrating :(. But I did a fair bit of travelling today and forgot to wear it in the morning so that might have been part of it.

So 1.5 hours down, 18.5 hours to go :).

Loseit 02-03-2012 04:31 PM

32 hrs + 2 hrs today... I am not sure if i will be able to workout over the weekend!! Running or elliptical is usually tough to get to.. May be will do some abs or weight training... I only add my hrs from running or elliptical here.. So lets see..
Total 34 hrs.. Yay!

osaunt 02-03-2012 08:02 PM

WOW! Great job everyone!!!

30 min - C25K Week 1
40 min - walk @ UCD arboretum

11530 steps today ?!?

I've had a good day, but not THAT good. I had a 6 hour roundtrip commute and I think the drive added "steps" to my fit bit.

Still planning on doing a fitness DVD tonight so I'll check back in later...

takingcontrol 02-04-2012 07:02 AM

Everyone is doing great, fab to see so many people keeping up with this challenge now the 'February slump' has begun, or so people tell me! It's the most likely month to drop out of exercise plans, I'm still waiting for that to happen to some people in my town, as the classes at my gym are still so hard to get into! You can reserve a place from one week before the class, so I called this morning to book onto next Saturday's Pump class as I want to change the day from Sunday to Saturday so I have the same instructor twice a week instead of two different ones. Anyway I rang up today at 9am, an hour after booking opened, to be told I was already on the reserve list, crazy!

Last night I did hydrojog, today is a rest/workout at home day and tomorrow I have Pump.

I really need to do my gym induction so I can use the machines when I can't get into the classes!

Adding 45 minutes for yesterday's session, keep moving eveyrone!

Seashell84 02-04-2012 11:57 AM

Wow, love the new thread, so great to see so many new faces!
Well, I finished January with 31 hours. Have had the flu for the past week (lovely gift from hubby lol) so no exercise for February yet. I am feeling better today so I may do a light bike ride later, still feeling nauseous though so not sure yet.

berryblondeboys 02-04-2012 12:27 PM

Did yoga last night and BodyPump this morning.... My husband and I do those classes together. I asked hubby if it hurt his man pride that I can lift more in BodyPump than he can.... Nope, but he says it gives him extra motivation to keep trying harder.

Tomorrow is my scheduled day off as I work on Sundays.

jenjen 02-04-2012 02:02 PM

I'm up to 2 hrs so far this month. I'm walking a 1/2 marathon tomorrow, so I've been taking it a little easy so I'm rested up. I'm nervous. We walked a 10k last year, but this is the 1st time for the 1/2.

Have a great weekend everyone. I'll update y'all with my results.

Loseit 02-04-2012 04:10 PM

34+2hrs = 36 hrs so far...

Way to go you all ! I got 15 minutes is today - that's it! LOL Not even going to count it. Sunday and Monday are my lazy days. I'll be burning them up with you starting tomorrow.

Got my new BodyMedia Fit Core today in the mail too. I have to put it through it's paces!

osaunt 02-07-2012 12:13 AM

Lazy weekend:(

But -and I know this an excuse- I was soooo sore from my C25K training on Friday, just standing and walking was quite painful. My poor, underused muscles better get used to moving more often!

Sunday:
WATP: 15 minutes
Today:
Lunchtime walk: 35 minutes -gorgeous day!
